  1. As you may have noticed above there is some variety. Try as many as you can to find what works best for you, your distances and your quarry. My CZ loves/d the Magtech subs, accurate, huge HP and excellent terminal performance, they used to be really cheap, now they seem to be really expensive so I use others. In a new rifle, even a .22lr, it will be worth trying again after a 1000 shots (or more or less) as you will find things sometimes change!
  2. Mike collins in dorset has a taurus with 4" barrell for £350. Thats where mine came from . www.mikethegun.co.uk Cheers Just spoken to him and he is ok to convert it to two shot, but I was more thinking about a New pistol.
  3. As various comments above, .243 with a 55/58g V-Max will be counted by many as about the best long range fox combination around. Whilst its down to each region to decide what goes on your FAC, the Home Office Guide and ACPO, etc, should provide some sort of consistency around the country. I see you list Devon under location, are we actually talking D&C Police, whilst all regions commonly throw a wobbly I didn't think D&C were quite as bad as some!
  4. Home Office Guide 2015 13.38 says.......... ".....it is suggested a .32 single (or 2 shot) revolver is suitable for most circumstances.........." That of course is a guide, and the wording simply says, it is suggested a .32 single (or 2 shot) revolver is suitable for most circumstances. It doesn't prohibit anything, and as before, regards deer, under The Regulatory Reform (Deer) (England and Wales) Order 2007 you can use almost anything to humanely dispatch a deer. A .22LR HV is commonly more powerful than a .32 S&W energy wise, so I guess .32 comes BELOW .22LR on that basis. W
  5. A .22LR is more than enough for most things we come across on a day to day basis, and there is no legislation that says .32 Upwards. Indeed a S&W .32, or even a .32Long are generally less powerful than a .22HV, even though they are a bigger bullet. As regards deer, since this, The Regulatory Reform (Deer) (England and Wales) Order 2007 you can use almost anything to humanely dispatch a deer.
  6. Weihrauch Arminius HW3 Revolver 2 Shot .22 LR Pistol, or HW5. I'm after a new .22lr, 2 shot, humane pistol (revolver). Anyone got one of the above or any experience with it, or frankly does anyone have any suggestions of a new .22lr, 2 shot humane pistol please? Cheers
  7. What am I missing here, what is that meant to imply? These people should be straightened out or not have access to guns. Walking around with an empty chamber does not turn anyone into a safe shooter. I have just got back from Bisley, I am a RCO, if anyone in my club or ANYONE else on the firing point was behaving inappropriately I would remove them INSTANTLY and either make sure they were retrained or banned...END OF! ATB!
  8. Its a valid point but there is considerably more to gun safety than a safety catch. Of course accidents can happen, but correct gun handling in the field should eliminate problems, simply relying on a safety catch is daft. I walk the fields with a chambered round (BA or Semi, Rifle or shotgun), but I don't wave the gun around and I don't rely on the safety. If you are not easy with correct gun handling and a safety catch then by all means keep the chamber clear! ATB!
  9. Good rifles, long action only IIRC.U. To be fair there is nothing wrong with the Parker Hale in my opinion/experience, and there are some bargains to be had, just be careful as they are getting a bit long in the tooth.
  10. Allegedly over 5,000,000 10/22 have been sold worldwide, so no need to buy one, just ask all the owners here if you can have all their surplus original parts after they have bought the vast amount of after market upgrades available, and you will have enough bits to build loads. ATB!
  11. Not quite sure what you are suggesting, but I hear this all the time, and agreed, the HMR can/does have issues in wind, but the vast majority of .22lr ammo actually has worse problems in the same conditions!
  12. Everyone will have a view, I use GTF18650. I don't pretend they are the best but they do me fine and are cheap enough not to worry!
  13. Several on Guntrader. It is a great semi, I sold mine around 10 years ago for a 391 and my boy was well p****d off, he loved it. Smooth and reliable but the fore end was just too wide for me.
  14. To be fair that was some fight. Well done Joshua!
  15. He said Muntjac, Roe and fox! A .223 is legal for all these in Scotland (and should be in England Wales), its plenty, I've knocked a Roe Buck down on the spot with a .223 at just short of 230 yards. So a .243 is more than plenty in my view!
  16. Carving/engraving on any gun is almost entirely down to aesthetics, there is seldom any debate about it adding to grip or handling. If you want to spend money on making something look pretty to "YOU", then fine. My guns are tools, I look after them and care for them but I don't have any need to decorate them!
  17. Price will be down to demand and a bit of luck finding the right person. It may be a very nice piece of kit but the market is limited being FAC to start with. Good Luck!
  18. I get called to remove deceased wildlife of all sorts from time to time but in the last 10 days I have had to collect 2 dead Roe Buck from fields around 12 miles apart. One on a stables and one a farm, there was no sign of any external trauma and nothing suggesting a RTA. Both looked around 2 years old, both in velvet and certainly not old enough to die of old age. Both actually looked in good shape (bearing in mind they were dead), is this just a wildlife coincidence or is something doing the rounds? Cheers
  19. Someone else said it, what do you want to do with it? Not many people would suggest a Hornet is their normal go to rabbit rifle. Hornet and headshot bunnies should be straightforward generally just the same, but a Hornet is a VERY different rifle to a 10/22 in .22lr. Without being funny the question is daft as it stands, and now apparently WMR may be a contender...what about HMR then?????
  20. I've got a T3 lite in 223. Nice balanced gun. So Have I (top one). I am amazed, has something changed with the T3 Lite. I guess mine is about 10 years old now, but it took me 2 years or barrel chops, scope and mount changes, moderator changes and then a few ounces of lead in the shoulder stock to actually get it balanced. Its brilliant now and very accurate, but then I went for the T3 Hunter in .243 (middle one) and balance was great at the start! Bottom is a Rem700 in .308
  21. For Field work and rimfires I would go synthetic. Personally I find them more practical but no difference on the accuracy side. Top one (same one as below) is a WMR, at the time it was not available in synthetic! As it happens the wood is great but then there is always the concern of barbed wire, etc., etc..
  22. There is nothing really wrong with the Savage, but I just don't see it in the same conversation as the CZ. The 452 has ceased production in all but farmer versions, as far as I'm aware, and that may well have stopped now, you will still find some NEW 452 about though, not sure why as they all tended to sell quite quickly. Anyway, 455 would be my choice today but your post seems to be suggesting multi barrel for it, consider carefully before going down that route. Many options for simple/cheap trigger work on the CZ if you consider it is needed. Thanks Deker, I'm a bit wary of the

  24. I'm coming to this late and I've only skipped over the posts so apologies if this has been covered. The 455 has interchangeable barrels, not quite in the same way as the quad, but its whole manufacturing process was designed as multifunction in this respect. Multi barrel, does have a use for some people, but the Quad has been around a good while now and history shows changing barrels is not something that has caught on with many. If you consider you may be one of the few it will benefit then crack on, but personally, and most others in my experience much prefer the 2 or 3 gun setup
  25. Who knows, but possibly because the OP says ..............what are decent run of the mill makes..................... and maybe people associate the Sako with a slightly elevated position!
