  1. What do you want to do with it and why do you want a Varmint barrel? Out of interest what region gave you a slot for a .22CF? There is a heck of a lot of difference between a Hornet and a 22-250?
  2. Just can't get on with SBS. But that's me, many love them and fine. O/U works for me but in honesty Semis are most useful to me, even though they are a pain to clean.
  3. At 45ft lb, 25 shots doesn't seem to bad to me, what would you expect and from what size bottle? Cheers
  4. Ha ha..just noticed something..ignore this post!
  5. We all have to start somewhere, but I suggest you read up on the BASC Air Rifle Guide and the General Licences and various "Seasons". And I would stay away from tuning your rifle at this time.
  6. I'm really not trying to be picky but accuracy is the wrong word, the lowest sensible height for scope mounting will always give you the best shooting tolerances. Scope height doesn't make any difference to the rifle accuracy, your pellet will always land accurately and repeatability if your scope is high or low, and if you set both zeros to (say) 30 yards then the accuracy will be identical at 30 yards and every other distance, but the lower mounted scope will give you a little more tolerance either side of your zero distance! Being a springer has nothing to do with it either, it m
  7. Yep, but about the only factory I have/use these days is PRVI 150gSP. If your favour relates to brass I have just given all my used .223/.243/.308 to a pal for reloading.
  8. dixyhmr Out of interest why a .25 at 50ft lb. Every single calibre out there has a use, but, for example, why the .25 over say a .22 @ a bit less power? Cheers
  9. Yellow jackets! Not used them since the nineties! :-) Funnily enough I guess I haven't either, but as a HV round (I think they were about 1500ft sec and 33g) I did find them pretty good in my CZ.
  10. I nearly bought one of those little Mag techs. Wish I had, I understand them to be very reliable. They are indeed, frankly I think they are VERY underrated, they are as cheap as chips as they say, but they work, and are remarkably accurate and reliable. Kenj lives up the road from me and we have been out once or twice with the Magtechs, I'm not sure who got one first, but it may well have been him. I have a limited requirement for a semi, but a requirement just the same, I am mightily impressed with the 7022. This is mine!
  11. As many of you know I deal with a lot of Domestic foxes, .22lr is very commonly the tool of choice because it ticks all the boxes and works! It's all about selecting the right tool for the right job!
  12. Synthetic stocks have their uses and will tend to give you considerably less grief during inclement weather and general maintenance! Personally my .22 T3 Lite stock left the gun front heavy out of the box, and by the time I fitted a moderator it was very front heavy and imbalanced. As many here know I took ages trying to sort it and eventually added lead to the rear stock. That worked, the gun is now brilliant, just the same I bought the T3 Hunter .243 and have done nothing with it, balance is FAR better than the T3 Lite straight out of the box!
  13. Does it or does it not have a guarantee period? There are a few RFD in Wiltshire and I know 3 well, that attitude would surprise me at any of them but you never know!
  14. To be honest I don't remember, but I'm confident it wasn't as far as the pigeon, somewhere between 100-200 yards I think!
  15. ???? why do think the 223 does it better than the .222? Obviously you have your opinion but after owning both I cannot split them and opted for the .222 everyone to their own I guess To be honest I'm a bit surprised you said that. Looking at .222 and .223 simplistically I have always been surprised how much different they feel to shoot. Both are easy of course, but the .222 is sweet! I settled for .223 though. The .223 carries a hint more energy but for most real world experiences that isn't worth losing sleep over! The difference in performance isn't worth the worry,
  16. My single 12g Baikal only comes out these days when I feel masochistic!
  17. Not many people are FORCED to shoot foxes at 250yards average distance, there are commonly ways to get closer or get the fox closer. I take the occasional opportunist fox out there but generally, with a bit of work, I can get them inside rimfire distances. Whatever, not sure why you didn't mention the .223! It's more than capable, but being the tart I am if I was forced to shoot them at 250yards all the time my .243 with 58g V-Max would be my choice.
  18. Indeed, nothing wrong with a .222, but the .223 seems to work ok to!
  19. Europe again sticking their fingers in, but as walshie says, Hornady will simply tweak the recipe!
  20. A few days back, took 5 altogether with the HMR, I was cold and wet by the time I left so didn't take a pic of them all at the end, just these 3 from earlier in the evening!
  21. Good grief! But as mentioned, doesn't seem to be loaded!
  22. As others have said you zero with what you use, zeroing with one ammo and then changing to another is never going to work 100%. If the PPU work then stick with them, otherwise whatever you favour. In the field I use PPU SP in my .223, .243 and .308. They all give me 1" and thats just fine for me in the field. If I want to get a bit more serious/accurate for any reason I use Home Brews which come close to single hole groups!
