I've never understood this, so where is the actual zero? On that basis all you know is that at 100 yards you're 1" high?

I've tried all the colour filters over the years and to be honest the "white" seems to work fine, I find the dimmer option very useful just the same I was a long time advocate of Red, but lost the filter on one site years back and used the white again, it appeared to make no difference, so never bothered getting another red!

The act of leaving a shotgun in a vehicle is not illegal at all, either whole or in pieces. You are expected to take all reasonable precautions. So the situation and interpretation are rather important!

It's the old Deben Max, I have the Mini as well, numerous lamps (torches) and NV but for some reason decided to give this an outing, not used it for a while. It does have the dimmer which I find useful. Have I missed it somewhere (probably), do any of the modern torches actually have a variable dimmer rather than simply different light settings which you have to scan through! To be honest I'd forgotten how Yellow the beam appears compared to the modern cool white of the torches though!

I got a call on Monday from a school with a fox problem. This was the result from my visit yesterday. Taken with Hornady 17g V-Max between 50-110 yards. The HMR was used because it was the most appropriate for the job. I seem to deal with a few at schools, but it's usually one or two or a family, not often I take 6 in about 2.5hours.

You're ahead of me there, but it could well be, those were taken on a school playing field!

Seeing as you chose to quote an extract of my post, let me repeat it..... "You have a fertile, misled, imagination and frankly don't seem to have a clue about the real world. You think 90% of people want Pest Control banned! When did you last see a Tree Huggers March trying to save the Rabbit, Grey Squirrel, Mink, Signal Crayfish, Rat, Canada Goose, etc etc etc? Your Naivety appears boundless!" I note you conveniently ignored the specific points raised in my posts! Your ignorance and assumption appear to know no bounds, probably around 90% of my work is Domestic and Commer

I was going to bring that up myself, (I get this was a little light baiting), seems every time I mention the HMR (or .22LR) which I take a lot of foxes with, I get a lecture from those that tell me it doesn't work! Here's some more the HMR didn't work on! Anyway, this thread is wondering, and I accept a level of it is my fault. ATB!

Regardless ...... Happy New Year everyone!

You have a fertile, misled, imagination and frankly don't seem to have a clue about the real world. You think 90% of people want Pest Control banned! When did you last see a Tree Huggers March trying to save the Rabbit, Grey Squirrel, Mink, Signal Crayfish, Rat, Canada Goose, etc etc etc? Whatever you think peoples attitude might be about Pest Control I can assure you it is not evident when a rat is running around their kitchen, a wasp nest turns up, the fox eats the childrens pet chickens, the deer ruin the golf greens (it's Hoof damage to the Greens that are the biggest concerns, no

Are you kidding? What is that rubbish? Of course it is in lots of peoples interest to wipe out certain species on certain pieces of land! Don't you think it would be in YOUR interest if I wiped out that wasp nest in the entrance porch to your house? Do you really want the rats running around at the bottom of your garden where your young children play? Rabbits are public enemy No1 round most stables/liveries/studs, causing damage/injury/even death to horses and riders. Foxes are not appreciated around the chicken farms, and you will not get any thanks from sheep farmers leaving a fe

prog·ress (prŏg′rĕs′, -rəs, prō′grĕs′) To develop, advance, or improve: Nobody is making you use any sort of advanced targeting systems, just like nobody is stopping you running after a rabbit and throwing stones at it in the hope you may get lucky. Just where should progress stop in your opinion with regards Sport shooting? I rather suspect there were those that said, rifles threaten the future, improved ammunition threatens the future, scopes threaten the future, lamping threatens the future, pest controllers and poison and gas, etc., etc., etc., threaten the futur

Of course its progress, rifles were progress from bows, scopes were progress, lamping was progress, etc etc. If some shooters and landowners are happy to continue with their sport shooting and leave some wildlife to breed that's up to them, I don't win any prizes for leaving jobs half done or taking longer to clear sites than I could, I take every advantage going, if that includes NV then so be it!

I have used rimfire past 150 several times, BUT I'd absolutely go with the above!
-
I'm glad you asked, I was about to... can't remember the last time I used them, but I never did find them particularly accurate or useful, unlike LR!

As others have said, they are different, I need both, and a WMR as well!

Posted 8 hours ago, allydog said: Why would this concern you? Your reply is not conducive to my original post so not helpful in the slightest. You seem to have an odd attitude about you, how can anyone possibly give you anything like a useful response without you telling us what you want to do with it! "What do you want to do with it and why do you want a Varmint barrel?" Which part of that isn't constructive and if you allegedly have experience and decided on a Varmint barrel why are you asking advice about the calibre? A .22CF is an unusual grant as it

.22CF covers Hornet to 22-250 (plus anything else I may have forgotten), a range of power from circa 300 to nearly 2000ft lb. So it is a little odd that any region would grant such a wide option with simply the term .22CF!

.25 Air Rifle Power FAC recommendations.

Crumbs, circa 100 shots at 47.5ft lb sound pretty impressive to me! -
Squirrels always seem to run up the tree to safety, like in the summer months, and just sit there looking at you, like, now you can't see me!

I've got the FN19 Skeleton (best part of 20 years old now), very underrated, but they do feel a bit flimsy compared to many (especially that German make). Got a bit of indexing issue these days, can't seem to resolve it myself, anyone know someone good to help? Of yes, I took that clear plastic Falcon sticker off mine the day I bought it, yours seems to have survived well, is it engraved?! Crumbs, 10 years ago, mine is also FAC!

Scope for spring air rifle
Deker replied to Carlowhunter's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
You are getting mixed up with terminology, scope height will not change group sizes or accuracy in any way, unless you took the height to ridiculous extremes, which simply never happens. If you are looking at variations due to scope height then look to the gun/scope/mounts/whatever else, 1mm above the barrel or 25mm above the barrel will not change the group size or accuracy, all else being equal! It will certainly change the POI either side of your zero but these changes will remain consistent and therefore have no effect on accuracy! But as I said above, the lower mounted scop -
That's the way mine is, and not to be touched by anyone else at the club either. So a semi auto GSG1911(LBP) can only be used at the range but I can walk round the streets with my HW3 concealed! (I work for the Police H.A.D. team!) Funny (daft) old world here in the UK regards guns. A ban on MARS rifles is round the corner I believe!
