This morning I tried a couple of mags of Accupell after the JSB RS. The Accupells go into the mag easier and feel like they cycle a bit smoother but, shot No 8 went slightly away from the group on each mag.

I popped back into my favourite RFD for something to cover my hands and face while out hunting squirrel and pigeon. While I was there, I got talking to Paul, he runs the place and is a really good bloke. Anyway, it turns out that one of his favourite hunting tools is a .22 S10. As well as giving me the recent service sheet for my S10, he also recommended trying Accupells. Until now, I'd tried AA Field, JSB Exact and JSB RS. RS giving the best accuracy and grouping over various distances........ (Apologies for the poor quality pics)

Ah yes, a wee snifter to warm the cockles. My grandad swore by his old hip flask. I remember sharing a nip of his brandy when I went with him to check his snares one January morning. I think I was about 8yrs old I don't do do very well with alcohol in the cold - I'd be leaving scent marks around my permission all night my nan use to give me brandy and warm water when i was a kid to make me puke!!its ruined me for nights out now I remember it made me shudder and made grandad laugh

I think the dog's wondering what you're doing with the camera ..... Good picture. A mate at work is waiting her to go pick hers up. I was showing her some of your pictures - she loved them -

Hi Meg. Don't give it up on it mate. I stripped my TX over 20 times before I got it how I wanted it. Have you had it over a chrono yet? How tight is the piston washer in the piston? Did you check that all parts move freely together before reassembly? Atb

Cheers Mac. I have heard it's easy to double load but, 7 pellets You just have to be aware when cocking - bringing the bolt right back and down indexes the mag. I think I've found the level of interest I was looking for with this old Mk II - it's a nice solid little thing to use

Cheers for the replies ...... Some more helpful than others ....*cough* Mark I've got no problems with keeping my core warm - last winter I was using some fleece lined camo trouser things over my usual combats and a hoodie under my dpm smock. It's mostly my hands and feet that get cold - Standing out in the open, on frosty fields.

My grandad always said that

Lol, thanks for the help so far Ya feckers I'm surprised no one's been on and called me a southern poof yet Last night wasn't too bad but, stood outside a warren in winter shivering my tits off plays havoc with my POI. I can't just stay in - cabin fever kicks in after 6hrs

Thankfully he came out alive. I heard on the news that he ended up under the cage with more sharks below him What an experience

The autumnal cold crept up through my boots and 3 pairs of socks last night. The wind bit my fingers. How do you guys keep warm on those winter nights when out shooting? I can live with it but, I'd rather be as comfortable as possible when out

Hmm, there's a thought I sold my old Mercury Challenger to a biker - I might go see if he still lives at the same address but, it was 20 yrs ago. I'd love to have that one back. never had a challenger so I made one even better, it bangs out 11.5lb with five coils removed from the spring I,ve honed the cylinder made a ptfe piston head, top hat ,Spring guide and opened up the breech port, it was about 2mm it's now tapered from inside from around 6mm down to 3.5mm i also cut the barrel down and recrowned it then fitted a vortex silencer it is smooth and quick and at 25 meters it's almost pellet -
I know mate, I was gutted. I needn't have bothered stalking into it - I reckon I could have just walked over and euthanised it at point blank range. No, nothing's turned up mate. I reckon either our postman or one of the neighbours has had it. I bought a level last week so, all my scopes are on straight now

I've been looking forward to trying this out since I got it. It's the Mk II BSA Super 10 that I picked up last week. I've made a switch from .177 pcp to .22 for night hunting. It's had some range time and I checked the 28yrd zero this afternoon. It turns out that it likes JSB RS. I went off to the rugby club for a quick look round and, found a rabbit over by the storage sheds. It was eating grass with its back to me. I kept watching it - as it turned, there was very little eye shine I knew it was just over 30yrds from my side of the fence to the back of the shed where the tr

Ah, the poor fecker in pic 2 was still eating his dinner Nice shooting I've also heard about the problems with with those rifles but, all the ones I've seen have been spot on.

People like that only hate hunting because they're dumb enough to get caught in a snare

Starting Out, What Gun To Start With...

You won't go wrong with a TX If you're after a quality, solid springer that is easy to maintain, I'd recommend the TX, Prosport and HW97. They're all good in any calibre. -
I've found that tuning is very subjective - the way we like to feel a rifle fire and the results we get from it are personal. My .22 TX doesn't have any original internals. I've managed to achieve a quick shot time and a dull thud, producing 11ftlb. The recoil is still there but, I've got it just the way I like it. I've recently bought a .177 HW97. I haven't opened it up yet but, I will do. At the moment it fires very quick and snappy at 11.7ftlb. It's very accurate and, I quite like it. I'll try to calm the shot cycle a little. Like I've said before - Springers are are just a tub

Spot on. We're not what I'd call well-off but, our daughter doesn't know the kind of hardships that me and the missus did when we were growing up. And that's just the way I like it. A council estate education taught us that you have to make your own luck.

Are you thinking of buying and tuning a rifle for yourself?
