    I want decent springer but I don't have a very big budget Fair do's. I wondered if you favoured a lightweight rifle for any reason Most forums have pretty good sales sections. If you have a look around, you could probably get more for your money But, from the 2 you mentioned, I've only tried the 99. I liked it.

    It was mate - it knocked pigeons clean out of trees. I was still trying to get within range when my mate asked me what I was doing. He took the rifle and took a shot that was at least 70yrds. The Pigeon just dropped My .25 Matador was running at around 11.5. I hit a pigeon with that at 20ish yards and the thump was unbelievable - I almost felt sorry for it. It came down without a twitch though

    yes iv got it now, to about a size of a 10 pence piece, other than that, with the scopes i have theres no way on earth that anyone could hit a pellet sized target from 40 metres away, if im wrong then please proove it ( not to be a show off....but to proove me wrong) thanks, ATB FT Where are you? And any other person over here convicted of murder who is either running this country or released early as part of the good Friday agreement?     Just a thought but, if you're struggling with the vision, have you adjusted the eyepiece on your scope?

    i understand that ovcourse, but what im trying to say is how does other people zeroin theyr scopes with cheap scopes I have a nice little cheap AGS 3-9x40 on my .177 HW97. I keep it on 8x mag. To zero, I draw a verticle cross on a sheet of A4, put that 30ish yards away and, just shoot at it. I keep adjusting the elevation and windage until I'm hitting the centre. I'll usually test it further out and close in as well if I have time - just to ensure that I'm bang on.

    Cheers JonNever been tempted with a .25 but a .20 is a different matter:) All purchases on hold till after the bearded bloke in the red suit has been!! Lol Atb si Ah yes, .20. I've never tried it - I always favoured a .177 with a heavy pellet. I may give it a whirl in the future .25 in sub 12 was fun but, I just wasn't good enough to use it a constant hunting tool. I did have a go on a mates .25 that was running at near 50ftlb - that was very effective I know what you mean about Christmas though mate - It's time to put any of my serious purchases on hold for a while.

    There are people on here with a lot more experience than me but, I tend to default to 4.52 to start. Also, from what I've heard, if you actually measure all the pellets in a tin, you'll find a mix of everything from 4.50 to 4.53 (maybe more) anyway. I'd suggest going for 4.52 and just try them. Some of the serious FT guys get really obsessive over this point but, for me, lifes too short for all that. Good luck, enjoy, and Atb

    Good point I've been thinking about this lately, after testing with my .177 HW97 (PCT97 ), I'm almost convinced that softer lead pellets work better. I want to experiment a bit more but, my best groups of the day came from FAPs (7.3gn) and JSB Heavy (10.3gn). The pellets both seemed to be softer than any of the H&Ns that I tried - they seemed to slide in easier. At the moment, I'm thinking that the softer lead compound helps with a better fit when seating the pellet and, when the air hits the back of it on firing and, this in turn, leads to a better fit in the barrel and bett

Well, it's actually a Pig farm but my mate's started calling it the Rat farm because there's so many of the little feckers We've both got early starts this morning so, we only nipped up for a quick visit last night. In the short time that we were there, we retrieved another 14 I tracked a couple of them through the bushes, along the back of the pens. When I finally managed to get a clear shot on one, they had travelled a few pens up. I got a nice clean shot on it as it came down through the bushes by a trough. Seconds later, I got his mate as he came to see what was going
