Where Have All The Pigeons Gone
philpot replied to David.evans's topic in Pigeon Shooting & Decoying
We are in the pea planting stage in this part of the world David so the pigeons are getting quite active, in fact I just had a call from a shooting mate to say he wants some help on one of his perms this week as the woodies are hitting it. A couple of weeks ago whilst shooting crows, I had a number of pigeons pop in for a look what was going on, something for the pot but the wind was blowing a hooley and my god the speed they were going made it VERY tricky to hit the buggers, I just saved the cartridges as my hide was tucked into the high hedge to keep me well hidden from the crows so I di -
Shove it in the freezer Mike but wrap it in a coloured poly carrier bag so your wife, girlfriend, mother doesn't know what it is. If however you are single......................fill the freezer with rabbits and road kill Phil

Got My Hw Custom Back Off Mark Dempsey
philpot replied to j j m's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Very slinky Phil -
Looking good Jimmy but there again I wouldn't expect anything else. Now what can you do to my crappy beech stock Mk2.........................................but not for some time mate, as you need a break after this. I did fancy a Nath green treatment but if I sold it on, that could work against me even though I love the green stocks........................I could do the S200 target rifle in Green or red, perhaps a shade of pink WTF we will wait and see on that one. I feel a plan coming together Phil

I have just checked and if I am entering the clay competition, I can take the car right into the main event area so that means I will deffo be taking my DT10 David and one way or another mate, you should get a chance to have a go if we can get one of the stands to let you have a shoot without having to enter the main comp. It will be handy to park with guns in the car where they are safe. Phil

Very fair comment Jimmy. I am sorry to the chap who sold it to Nelly for the misunderstanding. I take it back in that case. Phil

800yds, quite a walk. My buddy has modified an electric golf cart and says it is a real back saver, I suppose it depends on the terrain though. Phil

Nice one. Looks like you need to update your avatar judging by the car Never tried using the traps, are they very effective. Phil

Try driving around to see if there are any freshly drilled fields with crow activity, the farmers do not want crows pulling out the seeds and everybody asks for pigeon and rabbit shooting so approach it on a different tack but make sure you have some crow deeks and a call to do the job properly. Worth a try. Phil

Ah that explains it. Before retiring, I used to spend over £700,000 a year with Fuji with my old company for printing materials and the bonus was that I had a trade account for the cameras which came in very useful for family and friends camera purchases along with a few free ones for me. I could open a shop with all the Fuji cameras in our house, what a pity I cannot get them now. Phil

Well I am up for Doncaster show get together and this time, I think I might take the shotgun for a clay shooting session so David if you want to have a go with my DT10, that might be your chance mate. I very nearly went back to the show yesterday to shoot the clay competition but other things got in the way Phil

I went to the Northern Shooting Show on Saturday and saw both the decoys that A1 sell and the first one I listed on the ebay link. To be honest, the A1 decoy looks like a garden ornament and not realistic whatsoever but a large size. The ebay owl looks quite good and the size is decent but neither owls have great colour however the ebay, Jack Pike decoy is the one I am getting from ebay as it was cheaper than at the show. I am tempted to buy the A1 decoy and spray it to a realistic colour which would then be spot on.............................if I can be bothered but if you take that rout

I used to have a Pacific reloader for all my 12 gauge shells many years ago but gave it up when I got involved to competition clay shooting as they were not allowed and to be honest I thought it was a thing of the past for shotgun cartridges. Well after a trip to the Northern Shooting Show on Saturday, I found a stand there by a company called 'Clay & Game' who are a specialist company importing MEC reloaders and supplying all the items needed for reloading. I confess to being both surprised and very interested at the thought of going back into this aspect of cartridge supply now that

A nice read and stunning photo's which I am guessing are not from a phone camera. Phil

Do you find them much lighter than the HW100KT. If you are getting 120 shots per fill in .177, I wonder what the .22 produces. It might make a good NV ratter. Quote:- ' ive fitted a weaver rail on the underside of the forend which takes a torch for lamping and a folding foregrip which doubles as a hamster for shooting HFT with and also makes standers a LOT easier.' Gurtwurz, could you put a link or give details of the folding forend please, that might be very handy for a project I am working on at the moment. Phil

I Swore I'd Never Buy Another Ultra
philpot replied to Jonjon79's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Really nice looking gun Jon. I do have a soft spot for the Ultra and wanted to fit a reg, shroud and slightly longer cylinder along with a tune from one of the clever boys out there but it pushed the overall cost up too much and chopped it in for the Wildcat. Seamaster gave me a tin of Daystate pellets which were JSB Heavies and boy did they group well and on the opposite end AA Express did the same. Hope the gun is a winner for you Jon. Phil -
That is a shame Nelly, It is just not right to rip a fellow shooter off but this bloke has. Name and shame so others don't deal with him.......................... Phil
-
I take it that it is a .22 Phil

There were some discounts but not many and not on most of the guns I saw but there again, I was not really looking at guns to buy, more on the bits and pieces. For example 3 flocked full body crow deeks for £10 and other things of that nature along with clothing. I think if you look hard enough with cash in your pocket, there were some deals to be had but to what degree is debatable. A couple of things I looked but didn't buy are cheaper on ebay as I found this morning so I am pleased I didn't buy them. Phil

I'm going to be so disappointed if Phil hasn't got a load of war stories from a lifetime of sex, drugs and rock n roll So, far better looking than you thought then Jon............................ 'or not' DS Pulsar Jimmy....................................I must have missed that bit WTF... Phil
