  1. Very interesting. I used to meet up every now and again with a punt gunner on the marshes of the Humber many many years ago and had a go in the punt, not with the gun however, and I recall just how hard it was to lay face down with these scoop like paddles and your arms up and over the gunnels. I only paddled around in the shallows but my arms and shoulder certainly felt like jelly for a while afterwards. A couple of years ago Jackson Kayaks of the US brought out a 'duck hunting' kayak which looked quite good, they were going to send me one to test as I used to be involved with the company
  2. Oh Nelly, Nelly Nelly..................................why are you selling that mate............... Phil
  3. Nice lurcher and it is a joy to use the .410, must treat myself to another. Phil
  4. I have found that using the flocked crow decoys work very well using only 6 will bring in the birds. I put up a hide and leave it a couple of days before shooting that spot and really important that you keep still until the very last minute as these buggers have fantastic eye sight. If you have a sheep farm, use the owl decoy, superb ploy that has helped me shoot literally thousands of crows in years gone by. Phil
  5. I would jump at the chance if you were nearer as I love shooting crows over decoys and owl decoy, just finished with a farmer's freshly drilled field with loads of sport. When I lived in Sheffield, I used to shoot over a number of sheep farms at lambing time because of the crows getting the lambs eyes. Best method was the old owl decoy, they just kept coming despite dead birds lying all around. My pension would not go very far if I kept coming up to Cumbria to shoot the buggers for you I am sorry to say. Good luck in finding someone. Phil
  6. I have now more or less sorted my gun for bell target shooting which is an S200t in .177. I fitted the diopter sights this morning and went about setting zero at 10mt although the gun will need to be changed to 6mt zero for bell target but the range lighting doesn't give enough light at that range to even see the 8mm spot that I need to practice on. It is not so easy to set zero with diopter sights as you don't completely cover the front sight edges with the pin hole rear sight resulting in a ring around the front sight. Not easy to explain but you have to judge that the ring of light arou
  7. Great stuff Jimmy, thank you. So with Si we are five plus two halfs..........................any more for any more chaps. Phil
  8. Right that's four, so who else is going..............................
  9. Right chaps it is only a few days to go before a trip to Harrogate so lets arrange when and where we are meeting up. I take it you guys are going on Saturday but if different please say. Perhaps the cafe would be a good place to meet.......................your thoughts gentlemen. Here is the show layout. https://www.northernshootingshow.co.uk/ Phil
  10. I have to say we enjoy our clay shooting and she has already said she fancies a session on the rats so who knows how this will develop. Perhaps a good job she is away on a conference this weekend so she will not make the Northern Shooting Show this time. Phil
  11. I have the short stroke bit out of the TX tbt kit if it is any good to you Si or Simon just sat in a drawer and will never get used. Phil
  12. I installed a separate gun cabinet for my FAC guns plus one of my shotguns so would satisfy any police query as Trish, my wife, has access to one of the cabinets as she has a shotgun in there. Now all sorted.............until yesterday when her shotgun renewal notice arrived and she said.............'I think I will go for FAC as well'. You just know this is going to cost. I can see an FAC wildcat in the distance,..........oh well, at least the ammo is cheap. Phil
  13. The first straight stock that I have seen on an air rifle as well. It looks well but black for me.
  14. It sounds a little unfair but I think £500 will be your top figure. One in my local RFD went around Christmas for £425 and it was a pretty gun in perfect condition, nearly bought myself. More people are getting into FAC air but the number is still very small and that is what will control how much you will get for the gun. Phil
  15. I think one of the greatest things in life is for a shooting man's son or daughter to take up the sport, watching their progress and their faces after hitting a good paper target score or of course their first kill. Magic times you will not forget and neither will they. Phil
  16. Must have missed this one.............................perfect mate. +1 for the sticks. Phil
  17. My sort of trip out Mark just strolling the perm and see what is around. Phil
  18. They are phil. You won't believe the offers I've had to buy it since I put the pics up on various forums lol. It is a very good mod and so good looking too I got it from Guy on the R7OC with a barrel. Very hard to find and very expensive for a mod but it's the name you pay for I think when you're buying a nutty I think Guy buys every Nutshot mod that comes onto the market along with loads of other less than easy to get hold of parts. Phil
  19. I was after a Nutshot mod until I found they are closely related to 'rocking horse manure' in fact that is easier to get hold of. A cherished item. phil
  20. Very nice indeed, really very nice. Phil
  21. I have a leaf suit but that suit is something else, gotta get me one of those. Where did you get it from David. Phil
  22. Rez, my diopter sights have not arrived so it is now tomorrow for delivery so I am giving it a miss tonight mate. Date for your diary:- May 18th, White Hart, Lissington, near Market Rasen. bell target evening. The LSRA are taking a stand at the Northern Shooting Show and possibly having a bell target 'have a go' section so I will be having a chat and of course having a go on the stand if they have it there. Sorry matey, next time. Phil
  23. Yea, it looks good but wonder if it is hard work to cock it. Phil
  24. Nooooooo, sorry I think it is not for me. Phil
