Had the 99 apart. Worlds apart from the prosport- the AA guns are dead easy to get into compared to the hw- but I got her open in the end. Feck me. So had it apart, cleaned it out and fitted a ptfe sleeve re lubed and back in. The spring was in good nick but it's got a hell of a lot of preload on it so I urge anyone looking to get one to go for .22 The sleeve has done a nice job but ordered some fine wire wool to de burr and polish with and needs a tophat fitting to improve it I reckon. Tbt kit probably, could do with a slightly shorter spring as well. No idea how to do that though!

Headed out last night with a top lad from the range who offered to take me out on some of his land. It was one of those warm muggy nights, lovely to be out not great with a jacket on though lol! We spooked plenty of rabbits on the way in to the perm. We parked up and set about with the lamp. We were using his impact airguns gsx600 in .22 flavour- these are the guys that have taken over from theoben I believe? Either way the stock was awesome. He let me have the first couple of shots, a couple of misses over there heads first and then nailed one. No flinches, it just sat down and stopp

Not wanting to shift the focus at all, but adrenaline is incredible stuff. If you watch any deer hunting video's you quickly see how much adrenaline plays a part in if an animal drops dead or not. I think you are a perfectionist rez not that it's a bad thing it just makes you feel worse when things don't quite go to plan. It's clear to see you aimed to be as humane as poss.

Thanks mate will remember that. Ordered it after reading a blog from pyramid air, said to use 1-2 drops every tin of pellets or so

The aIre is a beauty for them. Great grayling sport too. Try the Bradford City AA book. Anything from steeton onwards is great. Carleton is stunning water.

Yeh Charlie caller that would be great, just ordered some silicone oil and moly grease but deffo up for trying whatever will make it sweet. Kind of wishing I'd got her in .22 now lol

The lad who owned the one that I had a go on said it was best springer he had used. This from a man who owns SFS tuned rifles, and has been through pretty much all the AA and HW springers.

Klinks are great. The klink and dink is a great fish catcher but if your not so confident casting then I'd stick to the single fly. I doubt you will struggle rising fish with a single dry at this time of year, especially in an evening as the light fades. The single Dr is great fun! Something that helped me last year was a long soft rod, coupled with a very fine diameter tippet, 2-3lb bs, 0.012-0.016 dia, and don't be shy with the length, this will really help with the drag issue. Don't bother trying to decrease it though, it will float like a cork no matter what you do! Doesn't put the fi

Well had the 99 down the range tonight, just on open sights. What a lovely little gun! Groups were 2 inches mind! But no doubt with a scope on they would be much tighter. Might throw the Bushnell on it next time. Cocking effort was quite stiff. The recoil was pretty light just a nice little nudge back into the shoulder with very little flip. The firing cycle was definitely twangy so needs sorting. Think a drop in kit should sort that out no probs. Polish the piston up as well and see how it shoots then. The 4.52 exacts were a wee bit loose though so I wouldn't mind testing s

Just lovely. Well done pal -
Agreed pianoman. VWman sounds like you are becoming a fine marksman and really starting to master the springer

I've just bought a 2nd hand .177 99. I'll let you know how I get on with it, only put a couple of pellets through, the cocking is fairly smooth but quite heavy, the firing is pretty good but definitely too twangy! First thing will be a strip down and relube, and fit a PTFE sleeve that should reduce the twang. We'll see what it performs like down at the range!

Fourth Coypu Of The Year
jonnie bravo replied to Coypu Hunter's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
What a beast! If you want to have some more coypu sport, I suggest taking the camera off and putting the rifle away. That's how Sods law works! -

Just a wee update to this folks. Did an internal check of the prosport tonight. The short stroke kit had worked a little loose, though I don't think it had a big effect on the shooting cycle. However the weirhauch piston seal that was supplied with it was cut. On the outer edge, so I've removed the short stroke and replaced the vmach seal. Without the short stroke the preload is reduced so I'm pretty happy going back to the previous internals. On a side note my scoring on benchrest targets has been 4-5 points lower with the short stroke fitted. I think maybe the short stroke kit is best le

Good luck with the sale, but I've got a horrible feeling you will regret this one.

The 99P Shoelaces That Cost £500,000......
jonnie bravo replied to Blackbriar's topic in General Talk
This is one of those things that makes you lose faith in humanity. How are the police meant to get anything sorted with this kind of crap happening? What a waste of time, money, dignity and the rest. -
Oooft. That's a bit nice, think you are right in what you say. It annoys me when I shoot under pressure compared to shooting completely relaxed. Completely different results
