  1. Totally agree with you a great budget scope £40 new is brilliant for the money. But a little more and you can improve the quality.
  2. Never seen a natty done like that before. B E A utiful
  3. Just ask to borrow something of his. Laptop or something like that, drop it in mud, hand it back.
  4. See if you can have a look through one first pal but I can't imagine you getting a bum deal from a nikon. Some good choices of scope in this thread, its all about finding what suits you best. Although I'm loving the genesis at the mo I will probably have a different scope on the mounts in a couple of months! Tart.
  5. Live baiting for perch is unreal, they are always game for that.
  6. Haha I know that feeling! On 5x mag with a 40mm lens you should get an 8mm exit pupil, which is the maximum amount of light your eye can take in. Sounds like the Hawke just isn't cutting it with light transmission. I've had a look through a couple of old tasco scopes, the world class model, and the lenses were superb- I think they are a similar story to the nikko gold crown, they just don't make them like they used to.
  7. What mag are you using on your Hawke in low light pal?
  8. Coot, moorhens' are tiny black fluff balls
  9. Good lad welcome to the springer club! The tx will see you well. But... I doubt you will enjoy shooting your 100's quite so much now! I would say mtc... But the genesis UL. I have owned the mamba 3-12x44 and it's a bit too much scope for me, the genesis is a lot more stripped back and lighter to boot, which I like. Some like a hefty scope on a springer.
  10. Cheers lads. Decided not to fit any grooves. She's kitted out with tapered thera gold, 40mm to 20mm. Nice draw weight, plenty to throw a 9.5mm bb with but a little lighter than my main catty as the hold isn't quite as snug. Will have a few plinks about with it.
  11. That's what I have heard, that the old glossy ones are the business, top glass apparently. Think my next springer will get a 4x32 on low mounts.
  12. Nice! What range were you comfortable shooting at with it? Shame about the broken ret, I've heard a lot of good things about the old gold crown's
  13. Picked up this yew fork a few weeks ago and hand carved it last night, I'm liking it so far. Just need to file some groves for flats. Probably touch it up with danish oil.
  14. Ooft very nice mate keep up the good work! Cheers for posting
  15. Got to agree with Simon here, 3-9x40 has never left me wanting. Can't stand 50mm lenses though, I hate high mounts too. Ofcourse real men shoot with 4x32's on low mounts
  16. The piston is spun in a lathe and some rings are cut to seat a Delrin ring that's custom made to suite at top and bottom of piston (similar to how they used to button a piston) to keep the piston slide down the chamber much smoother and stop any rattling effect as moves down comp tube where normally would just burr your piston it has deffo improved the consistency and accuracy ten fold need to get me a lathe lol enemy sounds different I think Ooh so the black rings on the piston? Pretty sure my PS has that, good to know! Cheers for explaining mate. Did you manage to remove most of the p
  17. Love that about the PS, but it's still possible to get a stuck pellet in a PS lol...
  18. Top job Matty! This might be a stupid question but what is v gliding?
  19. Its an amazing place, tickets into the castle are a bloody rip off though. If you walk around the castle and go right down to the rocks on the seafront can see the seals
  20. Sorry pal, I mean if you fold the bands width ways and attach them to the forks, so you can use a nice wide band that will last a bit longer and give you a bit of extra power
  21. For a brand new gun my money would be on the Walther LGV challenger. £300, bang on budget, good reputation out of the box. Quite fancy one of these actually, 3.8kg, break barrel. Looks like a good hunter.
  22. Nice! Small is good. Easy in the pocket. Flats for me, dead easy to do on natty forks. Go for folded single bands for a bit of extra strength
  23. The Bushnell trophy is a great bit of glass for the money, and you can get it in mil dot. I've owned two and the glass is great. I would love to try a prostaff! The mtc mamba is a 30mm tube, they are nice glass too solid construction bit weighty and bulky for me but good. The scb reticle is a bit cluttered, plenty of useful aim points but much prefer the AMD reticle.
  24. Well headed down the range tonight with the short stroke kit fitted. Didn't manage to get a chrony sorted, so thought I would just check pellet drop. First few shots were all over and low. It did settle in though, dropping 15mm or so below zero. Popped a pellet on the elevation cap to check recoil and it only moved a tiny amount. The more shots I fired the higher the POI got, eventually getting about 5mm below the crosshair. So I think the extra bit of preload and reduced volume has dropped the power ever so slightly, but the recoil feels reduced a little. Think I need a coupl
