  1. Angling Addicts is also a good forum. There's a lot of catch reports that will guide you to the right places/times/baits etc then the time and effort is up to you. Sea fishing I definitely a world apart from freshwater.
  2. Two things to think about. Energy is calculated by mass and velocity. So higher mass and higher velocity means more energy. Heavy pellets can over penetrate. This means that they tear a neat hole through a bunny but don't lose all there energy, where as a lighter weight pellet (of the same shape) will slow down faster and is more likely to dump all it's energy in the intended target. Shape of the pellet matters too pointed pellets are known for over pentration, where as flat or hollow point pellets are very unlikely to over penetrate... But they are not very accurate! Hope that
  3. Only ever had a handful of bass, but fresh peeler was the bait.
  4. Tidy bag, your getting to know that springer very well. Top shooting
  5. Nice one Mark. AA make some lovely guns and the springers are great. Glad to see you putting it to good use
  6. Seen a few youtube vids of h&n extreme hunters impressive stuff think I'll be banging them through the 99 if they shoot well
  7. Cheers CC, can you get it in the UK??
  8. Well gents I'm starting off with an apology- I had an epic fail at the range tonight. I put a few shots through the 99 with exacts, looked good. Then the grouping slowly grew and grew. What feck??? Turns out my scope mounts were loosening up. I'd shimmed the back mount as the scope elevation was maxed out the previous week, and I was a bit shy when tightening the screws as to not damage the scope. Feck sake. So back to the range next week. So never ended up getting any useful results!! However I did stuff a few sample pellets in her. H+N hunter extreme - very solid fit in the ba
  9. As above- prosport is probably the better choice out of the box, but if you are willing to put a bit of elbow grease in I reckon the hw is the better choice. I have a prosport and it's lovely. Dead easy to get into clean too, so relubing etc is probably easier than the hw.
  10. Stripped the 99 again today, full clean and relube. Polished the piston, piston chamber and spring ends. Added a washer on top of the ptfe piston sleeve to allow the spring to twist easier when cocking and firing. Adjusted the trigger to a much lighter setting (not too light mind!!) really looking forward to trying her out Monday! Got a selection of sample pellets to try too, should be good
  11. Yes, just keep everything consistent. I shoot ott just like ttf and it works for me
  12. Well down the range tonight again with the 99. It has now been cleaned and lubed, and fitted with the Bushnell. First few shots were very ropey. After 50 or so she settled down, doing ragged one hole groups at 20 yards, lovely. The action is smoother and quieter. A couple points though, I couldn't get the scope to zero as I ran out of elevation. I think this down to a slight bit of barrel droop so it'll be a case of shims on the scope mounts. Secondly the trigger is set forward quite a bit and isn't ideal. After hearing pianoman saying that his sweet shooting 77 has origina
  13. Well lads clearing out the drawers before the house move, hopefully they might be of use to someone! First up is a Tbt drop in kit for the AA prosport mk3. All original parts, never fired. They have been fitted but the spring guide doesn't fit the v mach spring I have fitted. This contains all the parts and instructions, spring guide, tophat, tophat washer and 2 power washers £12 posted Next up Mk3 original internals piston, seal, spring, tophat, spring guide and 4 power washers. Will need some polishing to bring back to perfection. £30 posted Tbt short stroke extension. Seal
  14. Well I wouldn't say no to one! To be honest I was more interested as my 99 doesn't come fitted with one either, but research points towards getting A LOT of improvement by fitting a tophat. So it's great to hear of a gun that is working superbly without one! I'm learning a lot at the mo from the 99 and loving it. It's worlds apart from the PS, which is great. I think something like a 77 will be on the cards when the PS get's boring
  15. If you don't mind me asking Simon, does it have a tophat fitted?
  16. I've had Hawke sport hd, nikko Stirling gameking, Simmons etc 1.5-5x20, 2x Bushnell trophy, mtc mamba and genesis UL. The Simmons, Bushnell and mtc were nicest, the mamba was a bit heavy and cluttered, the simmons just a wee bit small for low light (awesome though) the Bushnell is the most ideal yet but I had a go on a 4x32 trijicon and I think that will be a step closer to perfect....
  17. No wonder you didn't see much looks like you were catching zzz's lol Nice job rifle looks great.
  18. Well shepp I see what you mean, but my choice of the 99s was based mainly on the interals, I wanted a break barrel that was designed to shoot optimum around 11ft/lbs. After a lot of research it seems that some are not I.e. Prosport, , 35.... These are more optimised for FAC power, in the same way that a 30 is better for around 6ft/lbs
  19. That longbow is tempting mate good luck with the sale
  20. Feck me I started reading that threw last night finished it about an hour later lol. Good read that's got me thinking, I'm a little more confident in the .177 99 now! Put the Bushnell on it tonight and removed the open sights- they look bloody lovely with them removed! The Bushnell looks massive though! Needs a 4x32 on low mounts to balance it out
