That picture is class lol. Iv a jill the same and one of my new hob kits seems to have it too. Hes not as bad as my jill. She does be limp and oblivious to everything going on around her. Fairly common.

Live trap it in a mink trap, give the cage a good shake or let the dog yap over it for a bit and release the cat. If I get a cat in the mink trap I give it a good scare and I never see it again. Doesnt take much to scare a cat and let it go unharmed. A cats more than equipped to kill a ferret but a ferret is more hassle than its worth for a house cat. Smell of food from the hutch will be bringing it in. Cats are a pain in the ass but it could still be someones pet.

They wont eat the actual bones just the meat and marrow out of them, too hard for their teeth. Mi e always steal the dogs bones. Their more likely to bury it or stash it behind a shed.

Iv a poley jill kit here She was doing the same, not coming out the nest box at all. First I thought the ramp was too steep in the run so I lowered the nest box, she was still skulking and crying all the time. Just had to keep lifting her out and get her involved with the rest of the kits and the dogs. She was freezing with fright when she was lifted and I had a few moments of ear piercing screams out her. Wee thing was proper terrified. Seems ok now but is still the most timid of the bunch of kits. She comes straight out when I squeak to them now and shes straight into the hand.

I had loads of pallets but found it a major pain in the ring taking the planks off. Half of them kept splitting, then once id taken the nails out, theres big holes in the planks that my ferrets would start digging at and inevitably make bigger in no time. Then there was the problem with the length as they werent long enough for the back of the hutch either vertical or horizontally. I was wanting the hutch up quick so I ended up buying shutter board ply for my two story hutch and sealed it with creosote. It will still last longer than any shop bought hutch and worked out at half the price.

My daughter comes out with me ferreting, shes only seven, she takes rabbits out the nets not a bother and holds them without getting scratched. Shes used to holding them. Shes got her own ferrets and helps take care of the dogs. She sees the full process of animal taken from the field and used to feed the animals we keep and ourselves. Even although she keeps rabbits too she knows and accepts some are for eating. Had her lamping once but went home early as she fell a couple of times. Didnt put her off she loves hunting and fishing.

My last staff claimed everything he caught too. He wouldnt eat them but he wouldnt give you them either. Caught a lot of stuff. Was out with him once when I saw a big pile of feathers shooting up from the grass, he caught a pheasant and burst it all over the field, even got a cat once. Saw the same dog catch a starling chick mid air and had it in his mouth without hurting it and dropped it. This new pup retrieves rabbit skin no problems, straight into the hand everytime. Funny my beddy whippet took the hump with jealousy and got the skin before the pup. Decided enough was enough and ate it. Sh

I catch them on full lug and limpets. Bait does barely be in the water sometimes and its fish on. I was hardly catching monsters but they were around a pound and a half.

I only ever saw 3 wild cats around the loch lomond area in 20 years and I was always on the hills doing some kind of hunting or walking to wee hill lochs fishing. I grew up there. Two I only got a glimpse at for a few seconds and I found a kitten by itself. Im guessing it was around 8 weeks. 250 lynx would push them out fairly quick.

Its alright for an animal to kill another animal for food, thats nature. Its only when a human owns the animal that kills another it becomes cruel and wrong to some types. Why release another feline predator ?. Scottish wild cat is already the apex predator of the highlands. Can see the bigger lynx wiping them out. Their going to be in direct competition.

I use hobs too. They get through the nets the same as the smaller jills. Hobs are more dog like and seem eager to please imo. Good luck with them.

Cheers darbo.

Plenty rustling still going on in Ireland and its not for religious reasons. One farmer where i stay lost 200 sheep off the top of a mountain in one night. Got to be neighbours or family members robbing off each other to know where the sheep are in the first place also they dont draw attention to themselves being near the land with trailers and they would need dogs to herd them into the trailer. Its farmers stealing off farmers. If your not a local you cant go a walk up a country road here without being noticed and stopped by either a farmer or the Garda.

Shes Am staff cross normal staff. She was got as a pet for around the house. But the weather dont bother her, shes good with the ferrets and other dogs, so Im going to give her a go a ferreting. I had an uncle to this dog and he was a fecker for sniffing out stuff, just a pity he bust everything he caught lol. This pup is softer mouthed and a lot smaller than him.

I had to crop some of mine, it was saying files were too big. That was last week. Could get some photos up but some were coming out on their side. Was fine when they were cropped.
-
If its saying file is too big you need to use a photo editor app to crop the picture first. Then try it again.

I got a camera and computer so will try and get a few pics of her and the other dogs ferreting outings this season.

Thanks terry. More likely to be allowed on permission here with a terrier than a lurcher. I used to go hunting a lot with Russells when I was younger and it was always interesting. Thats a class looking wee Russell in the pic. Havent saw a proper one in ages.

Thats it Arry the older im getting the slower im getting and iv always problems with my knees in the colder months. Shes very obedient and sticks close. She can work beside me and save me rugby tackling any bunnies that are getting free from the net. My beddy whippets a bit of a free spirit and decides for herself where shes working, I let her do her own thing as she catches plenty, though its normally on the opposite side of a fence or banking. Just makes things easier. Turned out a good wee watch dog too. Will see how she does this season.

Was at the zoo this summer with the wife and wee one. When we came out there was a bunch of wee overweight girls with hair dyed unatural bright colours trying to give people coming out the zoo flyers to petition against keeping animals in the zoo. Could understand if it was a shady circus but its a zoo ffs. Conservationists and biologists with degrees in their professions working around the clock trying to educate people and doing there best with breeding programmes to try and save endangered species, most antis are deluded eejits that use animal products every day without knowing it. Fair pla

Got myself a new terrier a couple of months back and shes showing a lot of promise as a new ferreting dog. Obviously shes not going to catch bolters but shes got a cracking nose and retrieves better than my lurcher.

Mine caught a brent goose on a estuary while out a walk once. Dont think she liked the feel of it in her mouth as she let go of it and held it down with her paws. She doesnt show much interest feather.

Iv one albino jill kit here. If your in Ireland or can get it picked up your welcome to it, Free.

Mine has thrown more to the whippet side but will go through anything for a rabbit if she smells it, even pulled a couple of moggies out of bushes too, I dont do a lot of bushing with her but shes no probs going through blackthorn, gorse bushes and brambles if theres anything there. Class wee dogs.

Id live trap them too but I wouldnt touch them without a welding glove to begin with incase their no tame.
