  1. Only a few ewes lambed so not on a commercial scale however pleased with what we gave on the whole. Being Hampshire’s we lambed in Dec so most just about ready to go.
  2. Hopefully not established here - just a few immigrants that have been seen, located & destroyed! Any reports at present are dealt with by the ‘non native species secretariat’ but the feeling is there will come a time when the containment period is no more - then it will be Everyman to himself! Attended an event recently about the Asian Hornet, yes to the nests in trees..........but also found in the ground..........they’ll go anywhere! link for a few more details https://www.vespavelutina.co.uk/asianhornet.html
  3. Yes to the Hamp tup as its a pedigree flock. Started on the 5th Dec, last one dropped on the 29th. Weighing on a weekly basis, largest lambs now hitting 17kgs! Always amazing how fast they get up & grow! Hope your lambing goes smoothly ?
  4. Missed this thread previously........Hope all goes well. Not at your scale but all done & dusted here. 9 ram/7 ewe lambs from 9 Hampshire ewes.
  5. HMR will do the job but centre fire has to be the better option. When lamping they don’t usually hang around so I’d say the shot is made pretty quickly usually - instinct more so than choice. Night vision is definitely a game changer allowing shots to be placed and a HMR will certainly allow you to stick it where you feel most comfortable, all situations are different so just keep an open mind.
  6. Na just the lid. Contact them at info@ferretfinder.co.uk with a photo and ask for a repair price. Replied to me within a couple of hours, as already said a real pleasure to deal with which makes a change from most companies these days.
  7. I could quite easily complain about the price of ferret collars/finders but I do use & consider them an essential piece of kit. Don't know how but I recently lost the battery connector in one of the lids, contacted Deben to enquire about repair and they kindly sent out a replacement lid FOC. Well done Deben ?
  8. Credit where credit due, having just taken delivery of a Pard have to say a pleasure to deal with. Good communication, prompt delivery & a competitive price ?
  9. That does sound like an evening of fun. interesting choice of socks by the way..........are they thermal?
  10. Got some bad news for you Stavross, you’re missing another 4 looking at your photo, keep a tight hold on those before any more go! Glad you had an enjoyable night albeit a bit of a wet un
  11. Although not bino’s the Pard 008LRF would be worth looking at using as a monocular - good bit of kit ?
  12. Have never decoyed like that before, quick question - artificial magpie decoy or dead’n that you had? Good result anyhow, far too many of the buggers about
  13. Very envious.........hope you continue to catch plenty ?
  14. Optic Fire would be worth a look. Have tried all sorts in the past but now have a couple of XC50’s for rimmies out rabbiting - probably a bit of an overkill for what you’re wanting but there are other models. https://opticfire.co.uk/collections/opticfire-xc-hunting-torch-kits-lamping-lamps/products/xc-50-deluxe-led-hunting-torch-kit Would. Happily recommend
  15. Sorry.........have pinched loads of jokes from this site & thought I’d return something to the board............promise not to in future unless its really funny!
  16. A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest. After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and sadly said, "I'm sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has passed away." The distressed woman wailed, "Are you sure?" "Yes, I am sure. Your duck is dead," replied the vet.. "How can you be so sure?" she protested.. "I mean you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something." The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room. He
  17. Would have to disagree (in the Suffolk area at least). Last year even with the ‘Beast from the East’, we were inundated with wasps, they caused havoc within the beekeeping fraternity. One would expect that a lot of queens were produced so even with a ‘normal winter’ one would expect a reasonable survival rate of over wintered queens - hopefully I’m wrong. Don’t get me wrong as a healthy wasp population is good - but everything in balance.
  18. VHD - viral haemorrhagic disease believed to be the cause. Massive demise of rabbits over the last 6ish years to the extent that some area’s appear to have none at all! Still pockets around us but no longer the numbers that you used to hear of.
  19. Gorgeous morning, looking really good................nets out and waiting........... Pushed out young ones so small they legged it through the nets but no adults? I’ll profess to being an amateur but that surprised me no adults at home (or ferrets couldn’t find.....) Anyway a cracking couple of hours out which may tempt me out for one more try a little later in the week.
  20. That is a real bitch about the Fenn trap! Glad you had an enjoyable last outing - I’m out today for the only outing of the year, same as most too many things on the list of things to do! Global warming may be nice for sun on the back but it has messed with ferreting weather. Hopefully it will help with rabbit numbers though - still very low in the Suffolk area.
  21. Shit.......what a crock of crap.........as a Navara owner you have my sympathies for your troubles. Glad it's sorted at long last!
  22. With the weather changing to colder they'll have all died off in a few weeks so I wouldn't worry too much. The existing queen should have died / will die shortly so no further larva, new queens will have been produced which will hibernate over winter somewhere else and your colony as already said will just disappear. Quite sad really, our European hornets munch quite a few pests & aren't too aggressive - just be ready for the shitty tempered Asians that are in Europe to jump across the channel, then we'll have a problem
  23. To much for me.........glad I'm in the crapper
  24. Don't want to worry you walshie but a couple of us are having the same issues with winchesters. Switched to 42's a while ago, very pleased with, seemed to drop stuff better however, things have gone down the pan now Ejection issues as you've mentioned plus accuracy issues also! Have stripped the bolt down a couple of times & even cleaned the barrel - haven't given it much thought just cursed to date. Looking at this thread though maybe there are some more general issues with production - don't most of these 22 rounds come from the same place?
