  1. Take your point, but think the two scenarios I mentioned above were 100% genuine. Having cameras on nests 24/7 has ‘caught’ lots of predation by all manner of things from stoats, otters, mink, rats, bops and even hedgehogs. There’s a been a few good ‘one in a million’ clips and images sent in by the public…, the weasel on green woodpecker being an example. Different strokes etc…, it piques my interest anyway.

Pass an xr2 regularly on the way to work. Always shocks me how small the old motors were. Wish I’d bought a dozen of them twenty five years ago, I’d be retired about now.
  3. I record these now, and skip through probably 90% of the content. Don’t rate any of the presenters at all, barring maybe yo-yo…, he’s not terrible. Still watch because I love UK wildlife, and some of the footage you get to see is brilliant. Stoat probably my favourite UK mammal, and in recent years seen them show stoats climbing trees to raid a woodpeckers nest, and thermal imaging of a fox killing a stoat. Stuff that you could live a lifetime and not see, so worth a watch imo.
  4. You know what I always say…, times are aaard and friends are few…, tarraaar to foookin you!
  5. Was saying exactly that to my missus yesterday, and lamenting the fact that life is short, and I don’t do it nearly enough. It’s always ‘next year’

    Cost

A wee bit off topic but talking about breaking down working hours into cash value etc…. for the last 30 years or so, if my boss/employer etc. pissed me off, I’ve ‘fined’ them. I’ve fined the fcukers for loads of stuff, from any form of criticism I felt was unjustified, not putting on overtime when I was skint, any wee crackdowns on breaks and time-keeping etc., or all and any manner of petty sh!te. I’ll down tools for an hour on the sly to ‘punish’ them. An old guy I worked with years ago taught me to do it, and I’ve just carried on. Find it good for morale as you always feel like you’re comin
  8. “I was born in a cross-fire hurricane”…, must be one of the best song intros and first lines ever…, in fact it’s a gas.
  9. Boris is back. Unbelievable Jeff.
  10. Scrape out with a big spoon, takes two minutes. Fcuking about with a drill ? Saying that, I do like to retain our halloween tradition (it’s a Scottish thing don’t you know) and carve a tumshie (turnip) lantern too…, and I have used a drill and a spade bit for that, but they’re pretty heavy going with just a knife.
  11. Fury v Chisora 3 apparently to be announced. What a joke. I can honestly say that if those two fought again in my back garden I’d draw the curtains. Fcuk heavyweight boxing now, no legends being forged in this era. Shithouses the lot of them.
  12. Elvis! First started sniffing round Priscilla when she was 14!! Funny how the likes of him, Wacko, Bill Wyman, and Prince Andrew effectively get a pass for the type of misdemeanours we’d generally (and rightly) be disgusted by. Seen all the rumour and speculation on SM. If David Jason has done wrong, hopefully he gets outed and punished before he nicks off and snuffs it scot free like Savile did. But if he’s totally innocent then hope his name is cleared asap. Must be the worst thing in the world to be accused of. Horrible feeling there’s no smoke etc.
  13. Men died in two world wars so we’d have the freedom to stand cross armed in our underpants, on our own doorsteps, surveying all around us.., and without being gawped at by some nosey owd bugger over the road. Have a fcukin word wi yer sen man ?
  14. Can’t stand watching those videos, fcukin blood pressure goes off the scale. If, as has been stated, this was a bike theft ‘gone wrong’ and the perpetrator elected to stab his way out of it, then in my eyes it’s pretty straight forward…, it should be a hanging offence. As mindless as it might seem, I’m much less offended by kids fighting, even stabbing each other over daft allegiances to their streets and towns etc. Young men stabbing indiscriminately over a bike worth a few hundred quid, we have zero need for in society. I would gladly support a police strategy to tackle these pe
  15. As been said, hope its drawn out and painful. And I hope if there’s something after, he’s made to pay there as well. Cnut.
  16. Think that means you’re gay ? I can see the grid lines on the red t-shirts, but yellow, green and blue are blocked out. Skin tones look in colour, unless I focus an area closely.
  17. Have a look at this photo. If you have a closer look you’ll see it’s actually a black and white image, with coloured grids overlaid. Your brain fills in the colours by itself. Nuts ?
  18. Wasn’t trying to dig you out, I maybe should have read more of the thread before jumping in. And I agree that ‘original sin’ weld defects would be a potential cause.., just maybe not as ‘common’ on a new pipeline. Although just how common might be determined by the quality control, as operator skill/human error is still a factor. Just as an aside to the topic, and talking about weld quality on pipelines, I came across this old documentary on the construction of the trans-Alaskan pipeline. I found it a fascinating watch, and there’s a bit about how the quality control of butt welds went horr
  19. Think given the age of the pipeline, and modern welding technology and weld quality inspection , that there’s very little likelihood of a rogue weld defect being the culprit of an ‘accidental’ failure. Bit of footage of fabrication and testing on the lay barge here:
  20. Apparently so. Shows a couple of goats taken and dragged over a cliff, as well as a few calves taken back to a chick in the nest.
  21. Anyone watching it? Golden eagles dropping chamois to their death was brilliant. And the drone footage of an avalanche was one of the most spectacular sequences of film I think I’ve ever seen. Worth looking it up just for that.
  22. Came across this wee clip taken from a motor on the streets of New York, comments suggest its circa June ‘45, so a few weeks after VE day, and a few before Hiroshima and Nagasaki were flattened. Anyway, I found it interesting. Wouldn’t mind one or any of those old cars now.
  23. The love you leave, will be there after you’re gone…
  24. You’re allowed to turn it off ffs. Angry old men hour again ? Let it all out, lest you have a heart attack. Talk about the fcukin snowflake generation

    queen

Think it’s fair to say the minutes applause for the queen at Hampden tonight got some support, but a fair bit of protestation too. Not sure why after the official 10 day mourning was over, it was done at all.
