Still cool at 2C this morning, but dry and settled.., lovely morning to be out at first light. Stopped to use Merlin a couple of times. Nothing exotic but brilliant to hear the trees full of life again.

Decent innings at 86. Apparently very good at the martial arts thing, only ever seen a few of his films and they were low budget and pretty dreadful affairs. Not his fault I suppose. RIP

Just finished the first two series of Landman on Paramount. I thought it was worth watching but boy, do the yanks love a hero. Bit like Yellowstone (both by Taylor Sheridan) if you liked that, or if red baseball caps and country music are your thing.

Remember watching that original shaky footage on ‘Arthur C Clarke’s Mysterious World’ as a wide eyed kid, totally believing it was real. I thought it had been debunked by one of the family or a deathbed confession years ago, or maybe that was something else. Watching it now it’s actually laughable, I’ve seen more convincing ‘UK big cat’ clips.

Very tall order for Scotland. Also, thought the final day fixtures were played at the same time to ensure a level playing field. I guess TV money talks louder than sporting integrity.

Always thought I wasn’t a cat lover, then as I got older and smarter realised I just don’t like cat owners. Had someone at my door a few years back with a petition to ask the Scottish govt to make it a legal requirement to stop if you run over a cat in the road. I said I’d sign it just after I’d signed the one to makes it illegal for an owner to allow a cat out to freely roam the streets, shitting where it pleases, and decimating the local songbird population. Needless to say I didn’t need to borrow her pen. Good on your missus for being so kind to a wee helpless critter in need of saving

Tv adverts on erectile dysfunction, vaginal dryness, thrush, pissing your pants etc. I preferred a society that was slightly embarrassed to talk about such things, and where we’d deal with them discreetly and with some dignity. The latest ad boiling my piss is for Pepto fcuking Bismol. IFKYK

Agree, a long way from those great write ups of the exploits of the wee whippet on the golf course. Bad enough getting drawn into a bit of bickering on a thread, but another level kicking off a thread and trying to start it. Sad indeed.

Does anyone actually buy a Firestick for what Amazon or others provide legally.., surely the whole point is to get them sorted and get free PPV Tv? The whole thing would go away if companies didn’t take the piss out of people, massively over-charging for their product. Take boxing.., charging punters £25 to see over-hyped, but in reality are bang average contests. In the US I believe it’s even worse, maybe $60-70? And the fact they’ve torn apart sporting tournaments onto multiple paid platforms means (in Scotland for example) I’d need Sky, TNT and Premier Sport subscriptions just

Won’t matter what’s on them, as they’ll be all gone before too long. They’re saying it’s to make it more difficult to counterfeit, but I think that horse has bolted. The minute the mint can’t stay one step ahead of the forgers hard currency is dead. And who wants a pocket full of plastic anyway, it’ll cost you a oner for a tank of diesel or a bag of shopping by next week! Better off with a card, phone etc. so the government, and all it’s corporate puppet masters can keep on top of what I’m up to.

This looks pretty cool. Seen loads of low flying aircraft in the highlands, including a couple of times when I’ve been above them and able to look into the cockpit of a jet banking toward me. Didn’t know there were places you could go which were pretty much guaranteed.

I think that about cricket. Any game that can drag slowly on for days and then wind up in a draw is fundamentally flawed imho.., and could only have been invented by the English. Scotland has invented a few of it’s own sports down the years.., football being the obvious one, but the likes of shinty is pretty ‘niche’ and only survives as it’s played traditionally in some areas and communities but has never really caught on or spread very far.

100% correct. You make an exception for one group you need to do it for anyone. And I give zero fcuks if people want to observe their own religious or cultural traditions as long as it doesn’t hurt or impact on anyone else..,, this did and should never have been allowed to happen.
