    I've had probably a dozen silenced shotguns , but I've never had a 20g . I'm hoping that a 20 will be a bit better than a .410 , but not as cumbersome as a 12. I had a norica 3 shot bolt action .410 , with a bolt on mod . It was fantastic, but I just couldn't get on with the loading of the internal mag . If you don't load it correctly, it doesn't cycle correctly .

    Silenced shotguns are great. I was sat shooting at first light yesterday , and nobody even knows you're there . Ive got a hushpower baikal .410 , and a fully silence mossberg pump .410. I've had several silenced 12g guns , but I just couldn't get on with them. They're like waving a length of drainpipe around. I think my next gun will probably be a silenced mossberg pump in 20g.

    I was shooting crows , on a paddock behind the cow sheds. I had 23 in the first hour of daylight, with the silenced .410 .

    I have a theory about it. The less you have when you're young , the greater hunting drive you have. I grew up hungry for food , and I've spent my life hunting for food ( and everything else really). It's been many years since I've been short of money or food , but I was off work today , and I was still up at 3am , to go shooting. Like you , I was taking my lad out as soon as I could , and as much as he enjoyed it , and is good at it , he's just never had that drive/need , to get out and get stuff.     I bought an alaskan mill , and saw with a 24 inch bar a few years ago , and it's just sitting in the shed now. It was fine on pine , but not good enough for oak. If I need to cut oak planks now , I just do it freehand. I did a knife making course a few years back , and the guy had built his own log cabin in his woodland ( he even forged his own 16 inch nails). It's was only a single room , but it was amazing.
