  1. Nice land there 65 Be patient and learn the ground/woodland well, it will repay you ten fold if you do. HW 95 -
  2. Table top needs a staining Mac Rifle looks much better mate. atb
  3. Respect to you Mac for raising a son with such determination and respect to your son too . I hope he shoots a lot better than you yer Tw£t. "respect mate"
  4. Nowt better than a session with the father-in-law X
  5. Well, just back with my dog from a permission, trained him on retrieving, then went walk abouts. Fabulous morning out (with no gun), all the fields are ploughed now but saw no wildlife other than three buzzards circling like an old western movie. So i foraged about half a pound of sloes to go with some Gin ready for Xmas atb
  6. I really don't want to start a row. but I am genuinely interested in this and you have raised some questions, if you don't mind. 1: Night shooting might not be your preferred method, but surely when you can shoot is down to the landowner. 2: If someone phoned you and asked you to come and do a quick pest control job, would you decline, take a month before you even started it, or just do it? Lastly, do you you believe that with your tactics, you kill more game than the average competent shooter like most on here? After all, it's not stalking a tiger is it? It's shooting rabbits.
  7. Night shooting has never been my preferred method as i find a good trap line beats a night time air gun, rimfire or shot gun hands down if a good pest control is to be done.
  8. A pill for night vision ? My Mum always told me to eat more carrots , my old gamekeeper mates always told me a good beer, a warm fire and "good wire". atb
  9. What on earth is wrong with "careful planning" or as you say, "being obsessive" to the correct approach to field craft. My post was to the original OP not you, hence why I didn't quote you. As i said before, nothing wrong with careful planning at all, but a month to go and shoot an airgun? Are you sure it's me who warrants the "yawn" smiley? Yes a month, i was out yesterday with my GSP (German short haired pointer), checking around for a good hour or so and same today and same again over the forthcoming weeks.

  11. Then you would need longer than a month of occasional visits to a new shoot, i would have thought, to "Learn it and it`s wild life`s habits and way of life". Each to their own but please,- please yourself, you would never change me to opportunistic hunting over careful planning and observing, "never ever". But good luck .
  12. A month ???Seems a bit exsisive.. I am all for seeing the lay or the land.. I'd personally have a wander with the rifle and get cracking.. Good luck.. Learn your land first ! - observe and learn, opportunist hunters learn absolutely nothing in comparison.I disagree..So In a period of a month, how many times would you suggest " learning & observing ". A months total over kill.. Far enough walk the land , look for potential hazards, back stops, stock, the direction rabbits are traveling home, runs & dreys. If it took you a month to weigh up a small holding, your over complacating

  14. Well done Dean, well done ! First job ! Leave the rifle well at home, no distractions, and walk around the new permission, watching and learning for at least a month.- "yeah at least a month" !- you will learn so much more about your shoot empty handed. Know the very basics of your permission`s wild life fist Dean, - "vastly important mate". An "opportunist hunter" gets no where near the results of the hunter that "plans and practices"
  15. Mmmm not much difference . Stay as i am then,- Air Arms Fields Roger, extremely hard hitting and damn accurate.
  16. "Perfection" - that will be the day Rez. I appreciate your input but have you shot this rifle or are you guessing ? Any type of improvement suggested by HW has me watching and listening, because if any manufacturer of air rifles is close to "Perfection" it is HW . atb
  17. Anyone tried this new HW 100 kt yet please ? (I have my eye on them) atb
  18. I let go of my memories and sentimental thoughts letting go of my FWB Sport as part ex towards my HW 100 kt, do i regret it ? "Hell no" ! .177 springer ? Lads i am struggling big time to put my T-Rex 200 HC mk 3 down. My confidence is sky high with this springer and boy is she accurate and hard hitting. Superb spring rifle . Each to their own, i`ve shot the in .22 at my range and also the 77 but for me they cant live with the T-Rex, it fits me like a glove. I have noticed the Pro Sport .177 on these forums giving some great results also.
  19. September 22nd today, and the time 8-52 pm and pitch black outside as i write. What a difference from the original post Rez just 15 September 9-39 pm. Oh and nice shooting Rez
  20. Be careful on that lawn Mitch ! Stripes 9 & 10 (left to right) look a little ruffled up. One of those "proper guns" eh mate ?
  21. Great post Kanny and good on you with the Dad and Son stuff .
  22. I too have thought of FAC air and have since thought unnecessary. I love to shoot under concealment, with good natural camo` as much as possible. Fieldcraft is the part of being an air gun hunter that gives me the return i so, so crave out there. Being blended into the countryside and hedgerows in wait . Calibre, power level, types of guns, springer or pcp, this sight, that sight x this, x that magnifications but no one on these forums speaks loudly enough about "Fieldcraft" except for a few. The "greatest sense of achievement" i get from
