Is My Scope Slightly Tilted?
mark williams replied to Stu_24's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Ditto to most, if it helps any, hang a heavily weighted string "indoors", as said, set the rifle up with a spirit level on a flat surface.(say 15 ft away) ish. When you are satisfied the rifle is perfectly level, look through the scope and set the vertical cross hair dead inline with the weighted string. Stu if your rifle is still level and the vertical cross hair matches the weighted string perfectly,- tighten things up gently. Then zero to your desire and any scope cant will be eliminated. -
Excellent shot placement there ftm. compliments Block paving could do with a little bit of weed killer and a scrub though. atb

Respect to all thoughts on the calibre question. The general pcp answer is HW 100 in the format of "your choice". seemingly period . HW 100`s are without doubt the best pcp`s in their price range and far beyond. Hope this helps any SS - "mind you", - the Ultra is a mighty fine rifle.

Lads i was erm, "reading Air gun world" in the "big boys room" - don`t start ! Any way a lad wrote into the magazine by the name of Rob Haworth stating that if you remove the ink tube from a bog standard ball point pen and then load each empty pen with exactly 20 .177 pellets and screw the top back on you will have the perfect pellet carrier,- no damage ! (page 11, you tubes) Rob also suggests that the pen will act as a speed loader when you need to re load the mag. Keep the pens cheap but very cheerful from the local pound shop.

I`m a very lucky chap with four wonderful permissions of nigh on 2000 acres all told, at a guess. I`ve shot these permissions for over 40 years and still learn something new each season/year. Walked one this morning(no gun) to find three buzzards wanting to take residence in a small wood but two of them are male and a decision is to be made by them, i think . A month is "the blink of an eye" in the life and day to day routines of wildlife on any shoot. In my humble opinion

Yeah i thought as much because rabbits were rolling over with "every" shot taken, so i presumed HW in .177 cal` . MAC ! Had you noticed this mate, Mac ? Mac ? Cheers Dave.
-
Shooting Dave. I notice you like the .177 cal mate but out of interest, which of your rifles did you use and which pellet ? atb
-
Great choice mate (you kept that quiet didn`t you ?) If "you dare", put a Mamba Lite 3-12x44 SCB scope with medium sports match mounts on her and then watch Mac go and buy one as well and in 177 CALIBRE because he will struggle to keep up with your bags . P.S Lovely looking gun too - "git" atb

The HW 100 KT .177 gets used "more than" the T Rex, especially on the little or no movement/ noise shooting such as hides and corvids.I would not get the shot with the cocking of a springer (but that is me),- do remember though, i like to shoot close, real close. (As much as i possibly can) Yep tried quite a few springers down the ranges Rez but just loved the mk3 T Rex .177. With regards to AA springers being easier to shoot accurately from the start ? I`ve not noticed or heard that one before . Stick with the HC or move on ? Well i`m very happy inde

Read many a springer report/story after buying the HW 100`s and decided after trying the T Rex down the ranges to buy the HC (hunter carbine) mk 3. I just cannot put her down ! An amazingly accurate, hard hitting springer. that i find 2nd to nothing that i have ever shot in springers in over 40 years ! I cannot recommend this springer enough in .177 mind ( for me) .
-
Stick with that 100 Mac, - that`s nice shooting lads. Just think Mac, if you were to shoot a "proper man`s calibre, .177" with a HW 100 kt, your bags would increase greatly, eh ! Who`s is the scruffy pile of rabbits on the right ?
-
One of my sons posted it up but getting him to sit down and teach me how is a different thing after he`s done a shift or two,- he has two jobs. That photo is going on my wall Rez
-
No me neither TC, - he`s a dirty get that VM you know, and he`s "forever borrowing rabbits for his photos"
-
Taken a few now Rez but don`t say to much about anything because i need to sort the photo bit out you see

Took the scaffold back to the farm this afternoon and noticed my AA TX 200 .177 (bagged) was in the van with me (how did it get there ?) Anyway as i pulled up i noticed a large Magpie just soaking up the sun with it`s mate on the barn roofs and neither of them took a blind bit of notice of my van rolling up. The T Rex was debagged and loaded in seconds, within the van and i very cautiously opened my door and stepped out, instantly taking a rest off the van door frame and putting the crosshairs on the biggest Magpie`s engine room, (both birds heads were behind g
