  1. Whether we agree with his ways or not, it has to be said he has got a spine unlike most of the tossers who are supposedly looking after our interests. He doesn't shy away from what he is, and I admire that in anyone, even if I don't agree with them.
  2. I honestly think I could go a year, I've got 3 huge chest freezers full of stuff (mainly meat) I've got about 400 birds of different varieties can go in the oven, cows for milk, grain for flour and bread, plenty of fish, I would run out of fruit and veg before anything else, but am just as happy tucking into a lump of beef than carrots anyway ?
  3. And I thought my drive was bad ?
  4. I may have missed this as not had time to read the whole thread yet, so appologies if I'm repeating something. for me, it's pcp all day long, I don't even own a springer anymore, however I grew up and learnt to shoot with a springer, and when I do use my mates I can still shoot well enough with one. The reason for my choice, I am doing a job, every thing I shoot is for a very good reason, it is all 100% pest control, for myself, I don't want to shoot one rabbit if I can shoot 3, I don't want to kill 3 rats if I can shoot 10 etc etc, for me, pcp's are the way forward, cl
  5. To shoot, or buy the carcass ?
  6. Oh I travel further than that, 5 or 6 hours each way in some cases. i could see myself digging turf, and building a pond from it, that's very much a bit of me. am still having a look around, but prices are considerably better moving an hour or so inland.
  7. Yeah that's a cracking location, nice bit of ground as well, limited details, but a lot of money unless it was to be a full time home. Must admit the slipway 50 yards down the road is tempting, very tempting.
  8. Yeah, that's a deposit over here ! flight pond would be good, I think it's been part cut for the peat already Im almost 3 hrs from the sea here, so still closer, and your roads are not gridlocked like ours, with two tolls to pay every time I go fishing. I would have thought plenty of good ports within 3hrs from there. In honesty it's a full refurb job judging by the pics, might have 4 good walls and that's about it. No services, but all out on the road. I've done worse.
  9. Yep, right up my street. Oh I don't disagree with any of that sentiment.
  10. Just seen a place near Charlestown for 39k euros sat on 15 acres, admittedly 5 acres of that is bog. I don't like neighbours but I do like isolation.
  11. Exact same problem I had, except the shop was fighting my corner for me and got the charges dropped(so they say). it went back 3 times and they insisted nowt wrong with it, load of rubbish.
  12. After the last two daystates I had, one been the wolverine, I wouldn't go near them with a barge pole, the wolverine I had went back 3 times to try and get it sorted, was a heap of junk.
  13. You have me reminiscing about many a good time spent over there, it's certainly high in my list of places I would move to. Right by the sea, I would be in my element with a bit of land to farm and the sea for my fishing. In all seriousness, I have considered buying a place out there, one that needs a lot of work (cheap) kind of a retirement plan if you like.
  14. 2hrs west from Westport ? You'd be in the sea then ?
  15. You'd have to be full time cos no way am I working with cattle again (except the odd day here and there helping out) gone are the days of been pished and shat on by cows. mind, I've read most your threads, and you've got more go in you for work than most I know.
  16. I know it well, used to spend every year in or around Westport, nice part of the world, sounds like the housing market is still sensible unlike here. that sounds right up my street, apart from Been brand new, I like old derelict things like me ?
  17. Sounds ideal, which part you in and any derelict farms up for sale ?
  18. Stunning bird, and an interesting watch, she certainly didn't want to give her dinner away
  19. Reminds me of my first ever farm labourer job, I spent all winter on full time pigeon patrol, farmer gave me his shotgun, and 250 carts at a time, my job was walk round the rape fields with my dog putting them up, paid to do what I love and with my dog as well, I thought I had gone to heaven.
  20. I think that could be possible, I don't for one moment think I shot the biggest ever fox in the country, but a 30 would be a beast
  21. Good old fourtrack, I miss mine.
  22. Anyone would think there is a shortage of them judging by those numbers, what a joke, I see literally hundreds of the blasted things.
  23. Not in a million years, it would have been a horse. perhaps if it lived at McDonald's, worked in a gym, and had an addiction to steroids, it might have got bigger, but 40lb would be some big arsed fox
  24. I've moved my to an inside barn, get them out the wind, they are proper snug so happy enough with that.
  25. This is not only the biggest one I've ever had, but by far the biggest I've ever seen. lads talk about them the size of a German shepherd, that's exactly how I described this one, am still trying to find the pic showing the full fox. To give some idea, the bottom of the second pic on the left hand side is the top of a 3 foot slab leaning against the wall. The foxes nose was brushing the floor.
