Still plenty round here, and I'm one of the ones your blaming for the decline, I shoot them all year round, when they show my birds and pens some mercy, I will leave them alone.

Am doing a few birds and going to have 20 -30 spare carcasses, most will have breasts, legs and thighs removed otherwise totally intact. free to anyone who can use or want them, must collect, Bedford. these are big heavy birds (Ross cobbs) not your average supermarket chook.

I fibreglassed mine a few years ago to sort it out, it's been pucker ever since and never needs anything more doing to it.

Worked it out yet ? Shoot one, get one free, anyone managed it with an air rifle, I just done it, had a hedge full of woodies at 40yds from me, sat watching for ten minutes or so, eventually I had two lined up, head shots perfectly, hit the first, straight through, and through the upper neck of the second, one shot, two woodies, both stone dead, think that's a first for me with an air rifle.

If you feel bad just put a couple of hanging basket brackets up on the walls. Could even string a rope up and hang them off that, once birds know of a food supply they are not too fussy how you've done it.

I've seen them take pheasants on my place, doesn't worry me as I don't have a syndicate shoot, personally I like seeing them about, both pheasants and buzzards, pretty sure I would view them different if I was a keeper, but I'm not.

Must have had some form of contact to be like that. cover your backside, they may say they ain't bothered, until something comes to the crunch, get everything in writing, or email, and keep it, show you've done your bit if needed.

When I was a lad I,was taught several ways to deal with them. vaseline smeared over the body, dab them with a lit cigarette, smear the body with a cotton bud soaked in meths, all worked very very well, but not so sure how it would affect the (ferret) in my instance. I was told never ever squeeze and pull them off as it left the mouth parts in, and the squeeze made nasty stuff inject into the host and that's what caused 99% of the infection.
