  1. Well done to you but as i have said our Scottish CIC judges are f**king useless they did that with a head of my brothers. It wasent till we got home & looked at the certificate i noticed they hadent measured it correct missed on a bit of the section it was like a half hearted effort. The head is now in for appeal but i hear they have a new system & dout it will come close now considering another head we had done just scraped through. I have a cracker to get done from last year but lack the heart to have it done.
  2. Hi narrow it down a bit as in area & do you wish to pay as there is loads of pigeons on the go to be had.
  3. Nice head & as you can see cleaning/cutting a head isint easy as you have cut that that head wrong & im not getting onto you.
  4. Nice 1 ali is that L-wood in the back ground any sign of the rut i have seen doe's on there own. Your low ground buck looks a very nice even head.
  5. Hi Dave keep the 243cal its good/proven round & you have the gear to reload it as brass can cost £60-£100 for 100 in Lapua. As for a tube the archer are good hard barrels & nice to clean same with pac-nor but there is many to choose from. When you get it done get your remmy blue printed at the same time but watch as there are many variations of a blue print so look into it wizely call me for a chat if you have any questions ATB v-max.
  6. As said the buttalo is the most popular but get the rose wood whistle with adjustable screw as you can get buttalo working 1 day & nothing next & a couple calls is handy to vary between.
  7. Great write up nice to here of your meeting with the doe as you say memorable & amazine to see & not often seen. It makes a whole experiance & the hobbie worth it. Im going to try & video some action this year & hope to get what you experianced but in my area due to cover i only see kids heads behind the doe when they are bounding along.
  8. Hi get a book & read it i have Breaking clays by Chris Batha which covers the principles of shotgun shooting. I have shot for 21yrs & am a good shot on pigeon/rabbits/game etc but i have never done much clays & dont bother with it due to expence of it. Dispite my years of experiance & abilaty there is room for improvement & to learn & it is the BEST thing i done to do read the book it has taught me so much more on reading the target & mantally to attack the target & i have slightly improved for the better & its true its 90%mental 10% physical.
  9. Nice big body on the beast it wasent till 20th last year when i saw my first buck chasing.
  10. Im another beta puppy food man with a bit barf & i use a 24% protein dog food & find that pups are hard to keep on the beta for any length of time & want the big dog food.
  11. Well done & hope you are having fun & training going well. I would not exersize him too much or give to much work jumping in his training as you could damage his joints. Its finding that fine line & dont over do it as labs can suffer bad in this some of the trialing people dont do much with in the 1st year just some basic's & light jumping work. When i have lab pups i advise the new owner not to exersize to much ie 2-3mile walks in his 1st year.
  12. Hi nice to see the video clips of them as they are nice to see. I was out this morning but just saw a lonsum doe so ended up picking 1lb of strawberrys for breakfast.
  13. I like 5's in 30g-32g or 6's in the same but have used 7's from 28g-32g with great effect for pigeon/woodcock/pheasant etc but the key is cartridge/choke combo to suit your needs & pattern test.
  14. I have 2 T8's for a 25cal & 22.250 & they have done a bit of action & are quite good. They were some of the first out the BR-Reflex mods & there down fall was the non stripabilaty but when i come to replace mine it will be between a Pes T12/Jetz or an A-Tec. JLS arms have a good site on mods & rattings.
  15. Roe scored 121.73 after deducting 2 1/2 penalty points . Weight was 578 gms. Sika scored 243.4 points. Looks like that Gold will always elude me but if you have one to spare Wireviz I will gladly come and shoot it for you :11: Seriously though I never set out looking for trophies I have just been lucky to bump into a couple. I am more than happy just shooting cull animals so if you have cull animals spare I will have a trip up Well done mark i hear that they have a new system & my brother had a head that i reconed would have went a good bronze low silver & it only
  16. I have a black cocker dog with odd white hairs on chest he will be 3yrs of age in september & is opti gen test clear. He is sired by FTCH mallowdale zander & a windmillwood dam & has many FTCH/FTW in his pedigree. He is a good honest dog & the spit of his father he prefers game to rabbits etc but stlill hunts them with go. I have worked him since he was 14months with no problems really on commercial shoots & he has never let me down. I dont have any bad points about him other than his need to be in you pocket or in your face or sitting still for 10min+ he is a pain. His sec
  17. Dont get the spray its a pain to use just get the pipets of frontline & dont let them get wet for a couple days after the application.
  18. I got a lens cloth out of specsaver & got a bottle of visinaid liquid cleaner. I dop a cotton bun in the cleaner & wipe the lens then let it dry a bit then clean/dry with the cloth.
  19. How much benzyl benzoate do you apply and where because i know it burns the skin if you put to much on. we have benzyl and garlic for the horses so i will be giving it a try, Thanks. Regards, Sam Hi just take the hit for frontline/advocate i use frontline from petmeds free postage. This gives you 3 pipets in a pack & sorts it out & for DOGS sake get on with it it must be driving them mad & not nice to live with & for your health. you will need to get a weight idea of your dogs to order the frontline etc.
  20. Plenty marks off Arbroath then usan is good but its winter time for best results. Mackerel arent far & you might get them off arbroath harbour spinning & they are great fun on the light rod make you pish your pants like a kid again with excitement.
  21. Well done hope you dident have far to go as roe like that can get heavy in the roe sack & makes you think why you shot it.
  22. Hi as said the LEE Anniversary kit is a great start i still have my press 10-12yrs of loading. As stated you need to buy dies in said caliber & i personally cant recomend the Lee Deluxe dies enough. You will also need to buy a case length gauge in your calibers too & im not sure what is in the Lee kit as i havent looked. What you need is dies/case trimmer/chamfuer tool/pocket primer tool/powder funnel/auto prime/case length gauge in your cal's you need maybe an MTM case block then you could build from there like zip trim/ perfect powder measure etc. As for you calibers Hodgdons Varget
  23. You are going about it all wrong & she is still a pup & by the sounds you havent helped her come out her shell as a puppy & she lacks confidence & experiance. Try & get her out with some other terriers on rats to start her off & let her whatch the others. Let her mill around with the others & she will see the others going daft on the rats & want to join in her self after 10-15min even if its a dead rat & she is still warrie of it. It may take her some time to come out her shell & a few rat trips to gain confidence but you need to know how to make them it
  24. Hi nice but personally for medal heads i find you loss more from the cut than what you loss for a whole skull from the judges but to be honest i think our scottish judges at Scone palace are a bunch of tosa's. Iv got a cracker in the shed & just cant find the heart to get it done iv lost all faith in our judges & im not the only 1 to feel in this way i think.
  25. Hi very nice but if you have some money or need to save look into a jewell trigger trust me amazine & an HS-stock & then look into some years down the line to better the scope to a S&B/swarovski/zeiss or some thing.
