  1. Hi to everyone, just wanted your thoughts and to know what sort of whistle you all use. I have a 9 month springer who is trainied to the sit, stop, recall and turn whistle (just started this one). I have been using a 211 1/2, after being away for the weekend with a trainer he put the thought into my head on the adjustable almost silent whistle (acme 535 is one that i found). Don't feel it is to late to change as the dog is very focused on me and feel it would take a short while to change whistle's. Not seen many people with. Thoughts and comments. Cheers
  2. When ever the wife says: i think we need to go shopping, lets go visit my mum, if your doing nothing to night can you finish of that decorating,
  3. Thanks to all the replys so far, popped into a local pet store today who stock james wellbeloved and they said next week they are doing another one of there own brands which is based on the james wellbeloved, it is about 10 quid a bag cheaper as it will be in clear bag so no cost for packaging, they do various own brands of working dog food other then this new one, what are general thoughts on own brands. And i do know that cheap is not always the cheapest as i work in procurement and look at costs all the time.
  4. Hi there everyone probably a question been asked a hundred times but i would like to ask what food you all feed your dogs on. My springer Alfie is now 5 months old, he was orginal on Chudleys puppy which one day he went completly off. He is now on James Wellbeloved puppy/junior and he absolutly loves it. This is the first springer i have had as before had labs as family pets. Am looking for opinions, advice, guidance. Is the food worth the money are there alternatives what do you feed yours that sort off stuff, but please lets not turn the thread into a slanging match we are all here for the sa
  5. Hi everyone a question that has been asked a thousand times so may as well make it a 1001. I collect my new puppy on Wednesday he is Springer and i cant wait. I have borrowed a book off a frined of mine for training. But i would love some advice from anyone out there as there are so many members on this site and the more help i can get would be great. What in your opions are the basic training i should start with and at what stages do you start to progress to the next. The puppy will be 8 weeks on Wednesday i have a decent sized cage for him and he will be living indoors. He will be comi
  6. Have you checked that you can have a 243 for fox only, i asked my FEO down here if i could have a 243 for fox only and the will not allow it. They stated i have to have permission and land to shoot deer on as 243 is over calibre for fox only. I just cant get my head around the different counties and interpitation of the guidlines, i have a 22rf and i have fox stated on my licence but some counties will not allow that. When will everyone come in line and all sing from the same hymn sheet.
  7. The land which i shoot over i think a 223 would suit better, and me mate dartmoorman is getting a sako 22-250 so i think i will go with the 223, will also be able to blackmail him and get the 22-250 on my licence ( hope he don't read this thread)
  8. Hi there gonna put in my variation very shortly i know this has already been asked a thousand times, but advice and comments on which rifle to get soley for a foxing round 223 or 22-50. The cash flow is not like i wish it could be unlike you dartmoorman so this is a factor unfortunatley.
  9. Yes that is right dartmoorman i am your only friend
  10. What a lovely night it was last night, out with me best mate doing a bit of pest control for a friend. Got about an hour and a half into it and my friend had bagged 17 rabbits, decided we would swap over for a bit and he would drive. 45 mins later and 25 rabbits in the bag old charlie decided to pop up. Followed him accross the field when he just stopped and looked straight at me which was his first and last mistake. Cross hairs right on the engine room and now i have a lovely brush for my son. Really happy as it was my first fox. Soon as i work it out will upload picture.
  11. hi mate how much for the jacket and boots together?
  12. hi mate can you get em with spaniels on i would be interested in a couple.
  13. I have had my .22rf since June and have enjoyed the pest control i do for my local farmer. The lamp we use at the momonet is a lightforce S170 scope mounted, it is perfect for going out with the two of us and our 4x4. I am now looking for some advice on what to do next, do i get the battery for the S170 or invest in a smaller lamp for when i go out on foot. The S170 as you know is quite a large lamp and think a bit bulky for when out walking. Any advice on what lamp would be greatfull and would it be a good idea to get one with a dimmer. There are so many lamps to chose from and as no money tr
