on our beaters day at the shoot where i beat the under keeper was loading for me with his benelli 10 shot simi auto, thats bloody good fun but like you say it takes a bit of getting used to, but atfer the first drive i was hitting most things that came over and didnt even need to reload more than once. but it takes a bit of getting used to having cartridge smelling gasses blowing out of the breech in your face. I have an FAC shotgun & it is very good for its intended use but you should keep it quite about using it on game etc. I will state this reason for below. because he

36g BB shot for fox..is this ok?
v-max replied to langouroux's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Yes that will be ok out to 35-40yrd max & i generaly work half choke on athing. -
I have quite a bit experiance & adjusted my own down to 1lb & is fine but to be honest im saving for a jewell there is no better. I was also taught with set triggers so like them light & like the jewell on a 10oz setting & just tryed a 6mmbr dry fire with a jewell at 2oz WOW . Pay once & cry once get the jewell HVR & your shooting will improve no end trust me.

There is nowt wrong with them just get scotch bright pad which you will have for dishes etc or send them to me to dispose of for you. You must have to much money to chop them up for a bit rust. That is the worst advice i have ever seen given you trying to kill people DO NOT PUT IN FIRE water is best to destroy them ie wetting the powder & primer knackers the cartridge you are a crazy cookie.

whats the best rifle scope on the market,
v-max replied to dave123's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Lucky man with no budget so for scopes i would be looking as the swarovski Z3-Z5 range ie the Z5 5x25x52P or the zeiss not sure model but it is 6x24x56 ill with lutec coating & get a sun shade for the scope you choose. I rate the S&B very highly but they only do the PM11 models & some have 34mm tube that match the zoom/mag kinda scopes of the zeiss/swarovski Z-models. Due to the 34mm tube its a no,no you dont need that. As for scope mount i would got down the light force/clusion range & as i said get a sunshade to stop glare from lamp. -
I use my 4x4 to cover the ground & pending how i read the fox i either go out on foot with back-pack or will shoot fae the motor. Some bits i park up at farm & walk it varys for me. I work the clusion vehicle mount very good IMHO but with a few teething probs but good for the money & i really do need to get a scope mount lamp etc for when i walk & on my own as its not easy DIYing it.

For the past 3-4yrs we have had to get them on our certificates (expanding ammo) signed in as you buy & you can only buy what you are aloud to puchase/aquire at 1 time so we need minimum 100 to buy at any 1 time on ticket. They changed the law up here over night making many of us sitting with hundreds of heads & ileagle with a rush to off load to local RFD to get signed on as we needed them.

scottish gamefarms??
v-max replied to thurso jack's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
We have 1 not to far from hear 10-15min fae mik but not sure on what they have or got partridge. -
You are kinda right the the hot load stuff but full length sizing is the worst of all as it works the brass & can only go 1 way to the neck then you trim it back & take away brass.

The polecats were quite common in Aberdeenshire when i was in that area for a couple years not to far fae dunecht. I was thinking the stoat/weasle/ferret/hedgehog line as you mentioned the wee holes in head as an owl just crushes & brusess the whole head.

Great pics like the golden retriever quite fancy 1 in a few years but there all good pics.

Hi i have a 3" chamberd gun but genrally use 2".3/4" (70mm) in 36g-42g from 3-2-1-BB. I also work some 3" (76mm) 50g 3's & BB's for inland stuff. I have never had any probs woth the 2"3/4" carts in 36g-42g 3's or 2's for in land stubles & work a half choke with lead stuff.

Was a great motor I recon it was just the driver I was thinking the same as mine is a 2001 20ltr petrol & it goes every wear just the ground clearance lets it down compared with a landy etc. I have 15yrs off-road experiance & very rarelly been boged could count on 1 hand in that time. Iv had 2 stags etc in mine & thats just road tyres on it i was looking at the general AT/2's but i do well with what i have.

Our rut is only just started with my first sighting on saturday night & have had no joy with calling & i know how to do it well done to you FD.

My mate has the sps 700 stainless synthetic in 25.06 & found it best with remmy 100g bullets at just under an 1" at 100yrd. He has a jetz S-5 on it & balance was fine but he has now fitted a jewell trigger & i got an H-S stock for him & it went down to 3/4" but he now home loads & it will shoot 1/2" - 1/4" now & is flat out to 300m. The rifle was good from the start & i know he had it grouping 1"1/2 at a range 200-300yrd & even better now he wants to re-barrel but i told him no point till it is shot out as it is very good accurate out to 300m he is delighted wi

I used to do quite a bit years ago when keepering & we had 1 just on 15ft but lucky for us we got the JCB in & broke in the last 3-4ft of sand to the terrier poor buger was down for 9hrs & near f**ked. I was at the head keeper & his mate after an hour & the terrier settled to dig but no. They pissed off to another hole left me there with a yt lad from another estate & came back 30-40min later after bolting a vixen in 5min at the other hole .

Roe dont tend to taint there meat while rutting like red/sika & fallow do i would say it was too fresh as i hang mine for up to 10-15 days. Do you trim & take off the silver sinue/mussel as that can be like rubber if not trimed off.
-
Hi well done to you i have shot hundreds of roe & am lucky to have medal bucks & have 3 golds to my name & got the silver/bronze too. As you say some of my best stalks are of lesser bucks even does & i enjoy taken people/friend's out & whatching them shoot & get enjoyment from seeing there faces. I also enjoy the many sites you see at all times of year while stalking & have seen a young yearling buck & fox playing together with a friend that was great.
-
Hi Von your buck dose look medal class bronze area pending weight & i think it while be worth a try. As for the rut i have just seen first signs of it saturday night when i found this young buck with two young does & he mounted 1 of them twice. I have to shoot them as they come in on this farm & i genrally get young over spill but have had crackes too. This is my 4th of this year on this farm & i know of the young does that came in on may. I saw signs of the rut last year in the same field on the 20th of july 08 & shot a cracker. Here is a couple pics of my young buck i go

Im sorry but i find this unbelivable pest control or not that is a kid at 3-4months old & is it even legal & this should be removed. That is venison VEAL as it will still have been suckling & i find it sick never did that or know of it in my time even when i did FC-Scotland work controling deer. I know we shot young rabbits/crows/fox cubs/etc but im sorry i find this totally out of order to have done that & you should hold your head low for even posting this its a sad day that this is what it comes too. 3-4months old still on the udder & bet it was no more than 15lb clean i

Well done thats a fair shot under the lamp as said the 22.250 is a great cal. Nice set up whats the rifle as i know it looks to be a Pes12 mod. Whats the ammo as my home loads do nowt like that damage to foxy when i shoot them have the time you see no marks on them. Pretty sure its a Pes 12 or Pes of some sort.
