  1. I hardly ever clean my c/f rifles tight to be once a month & my .22lr never.
  2. Hi i work 2 T8's & they have served me well cant fault them but when they go i will look at ASE mods or that.
  3. Im in for it to have been a cock sparrowhawk going by the size of it next to the tin in the cage a goshawk is a big bird.
  4. I cant recomend the remingtons enough & once you have saved more money you can re-stock & trigger it. Remmys aftermarket options is endless in what can be done with them down the line. I helped a friend set up a friends remmy 700 SPS S/S in 243 & we had it zeroed in 5-10 minutes with factory 100g norma & shooting 3/4" group out the box. My mate him self has the SPS S/S in 25/06 with a jewell trigger & HS-stock & homeloaded it & it shoots 1/2" @100yrds.
  5. Hi very good video some very good bucks in velvet there going through the motions. As for the stalker doing his DMQ2 should you be advizing/telling him to take it??. To me he should have been noted about the terrain before the stalk for back stop etc & then left to it in my eyes as anyone sitting the level 2 should be of experiance/knowledge to read the deer & do whats needed not guided/told when to take on shots as this would indicate to me there level of experiance & see what abilaty they have. Dont wish to sound off but just my MHO as i see the odd so called DMQ2 who have no bas
  6. I would say 22.250 but iv had one for 10yrs now & love it & homeload it. Im a velocity chaser & used to have a 222 to & liked it but the 22.250 walks all over the 222 & im not a 223 fan.
  7. Have a look at the AIGLE line on wellys as they have good support & are 4.5mm neopreane lined. Dont go near the hunter balmoral neo as iv had 2 pairs due to the neo at the heals wearing out after a month but they are warm with 3mm neo & have good support but poor that the neo wears away at heal. Iv had le chameau with 2mm neo for years & the pair i have now is 6yrs old now & heals are fine in them & looking at the aigle now foe myself.
  8. J.Davies there is no hard & fast rules & you will get the odd funny bitch with there season. I have a yellow lab bitch 5-6yrs old & a right funy bitch when it comes to her season's. I have years of experiance & breeding & not claming to know it all but i was working my bitch unswollen & no blood & no dogs botherd with her. She how ever would with certian dogs all labs do the whole mating thing & offer to stand & tail going right round yet there was dogs all round some proven studs & not a care for her. This happend on a thursday on a shoot then by friday
  9. Hi Mark im up at montrose basin & our geese are in good nick other than what i would guess are odd pricked birds which are more common since the ban of lead shot. As for woodcock i still feel they arent them selfs & today was the first day iv seen more than half the woodcock lifted i saw that i would class shootable now as the ground was still solid when ban lifted & 99% of the woodcock i saw lifted just fluterd along & pitched in not far away the dogs were near pegging them alot but thats just my MHO.
  10. Nice beast & i think i should shoot that for you if he shows again or you cant let the missus shoot it.
  11. Depends on what you want/expect & peoples views can differ on that mater near all pups have it there just as you stated you do your bit. Dont want to burst you bubble but training & working at the final hurdal are worlds apart & its amazine how it can all change or go wrong in 1second or the dog reacts diffrent to the real working enviroment & clam up but it takes time & some times none. Just keep up the training & drum it in till 100% with the most importiant stuff the basic's ie recall/heel & sit/hup on the spot on command & it should go semi smooth for you. A
  12. Dont worry they will know its your first time & wont expect much from you & will have you under wing. Remember your food/flask etc & some bits you could put into your pocket as im a pocket muncher when beating. You will need wellie's or good boot's leggings & as stated a stick if you have one but not a very good one & you might want to take a camera. Dont spend too much time taking pic's or watching the shhoting as you can get caught out standing there for 5min watching the shooting & day dreaming.
  13. As stated reloaders nest or hodgdon data. I used to use 87g v-max & 36.5g to 37g of varget with a cci primer with 1/2" results. I like this powder & use it for the 22.250 & 75g v-max in the 25cal but at £42 1lb tub its getting scarie at the cost of reloading products.
  14. Your farmer can get a licence via the scottish office for them to protect his crops dispite the ban but if you can refrain do so it has been hard for the birds cant blame them really.
  15. Can I be the photographer???????????? Yeh sure you pervert or you can just look at my own personal pic's of her i have. Your not her type to bald/ugly & a little pichie . How tricks iv still got your burgers come get them.
  16. Yeh the 28g 6's or 5's if high stuff & even try up it to a 30g 5 or 4 for brown hares i would go for the 4's personally.
  17. Hi & im sorry i never ment to hi jack your thread just our summer foxes ie sucket vixens still look good compared to yours.

  19. Do you refer to me?. This is the first time i have shot at game this year & as i do loads of beating/picking-up. As i said i lifted 10+ & only shot 2 to check them out as they have been fine on shots i go to they are plump woodcock all in. I must admit some looked weak & i know the diffrence from an unsporting woodcock to a sporting one as these birds are a passion of mine to shoot. I have shot for 21yrs & keeperd within quite a heavy commerical programs so have learn & seen alot of action & met many people with knowledge to pick there views & ideas to give me a wea
  20. It dont look good but it is a sucket vixen unlike my 1st fox of 2010 & one of my best ever when out with the family i got this dog which i weighed in at 22.6lb. My partner is 5.7ft so this pic gives you an idea of the size it was like one of my labrador bitches size wize. A pic of me with it im smaller. .
  21. Nothing to do with QC it is mear improvments to the rifle as in remmy 700 they can be done with loads of improvments & blueprints varie. As you stated with truing up the action from re-threading it new bolt-body & face when rebarreling. Bolt-bodys can be bought fluted etc as an add on its a whole can of worms for work that can be done & the list endless with the bolt alone.
  22. Iv seen loads here in Angus area I had a wee walk at a wood strip today & lifted 10 or so. I shot a couple & left the rest & just weighed them & they are still quite plump one was 12oz & the other 12.5oz & see alot in evenings moving to feed.
  23. Most of the game cartridges will shoot the same in either 20bore or 12bore in a 1oz load ie 28g in fps & i dont know if the powder charge is diffrent. A 20bore can pattern a little tighter due to smaller bores of that of a 12bore. Modern guns are now made with a 3" chamber now so you could push the 20bore out to 32g loads but it deffeats the porpose of the gun & kicks quite bad & wouldent be nice to shoot many cartridges through it. 20 bores are good guns & can kill as far as a 12 bore but as stated the 12bore comes into its own on high stuff with better pellet volume.
  24. Hi i got my calender from my brother as part of my xmas very good well done girls. If you do it next year my partener has said she will model for it for the HTL.
  25. Hi is the scope new??. If not it sounds like it needs to be renitrogen purged which stops internal fogging. Swarovski will normally do this free & takes them no time to do.
