Hi i dont do as much as i used to as for loss of ground & struggling to replace it im on about 15-20 & count from 1st september to 31st august. This is all shot on my own ground & i dont snare just now but am into the sport of fox control from terrier work/lurcher to rifle & snare. Used to do alot of camping out at dens on the hill when hill keepering which pending on place could go on for months with cubs moving in where you started 3-4weeks ago.

Well done to you both as you say you are new to this so hope you learned some tips. From what i read on you thread you need to carry a 2nd knife. I carry a dimmond pad 1"x4" buck which is good to get you going again. As for a novice guestimating distance & taking it you got off with it but here is a tip if you dont aim at it you wont hit it to many people get in a fluff with it & im lucky to have a range finder to use. I dont know how you gralloch but there is no need to be cutting any bone ie pelvic/brisket in the field to remove pluck/blader etc but dont mind me we are all diffrent w

Im 15 and i wish to start hunting!
v-max replied to Rhys_i_bey's topic in Driven, Walked Up, Rough Shooting
If you know people that shoot in your area just try & approach them & ask to tag along & tell them you want to learn more about it all. Try get into beating as this can give you a good sense of it & meet others. -
Yes young rooks are all black like a hoddie/carrion crow. The beak changes & they get the metalic colour once they mature.

There all roe cant you tell???

Just shave/scrape it with the knife where you get the hair on it as it comes off very easy there is an art to skinning & it is so over looked.

Anyone else seeing load of woodies
v-max replied to whippeter69's topic in Pigeon Shooting & Decoying
Iv quite a few with me working the clova but i have a bean field they were working & got 21 woodies 4 rooks & 1 scut in 2.1/2hr. I dont like shooting them at this time of year unless i really have to & as for roost shooting them its not the time of year & the woods would be better left in peace for the other wildlife & save disturbance its a busy place with new life give it respect. -
You get the allroader with hydraulic suspention & it is very capable off-road pending on you common sense on off road driving.

The sloes in Angus Scotland were i go was bad none to found i got nothing last year. I havent looked at this time of year but may try to see how they are doing.

Before they cut them you have the chance of barley/wheat etc that is flat & the doos go daft on this. Its known as laid crop up here or flatend crop from rain & wind in parts of the field & you get get some good bags off this type of shooting & you dont need much gear as to keep an unclutterd pattern for the doos to land just reconisize them & bingo. As for barley its bad news for the dogs with the ears of the crop & more so on spaniel as it will jump/spring about in it & get it ears/nose etc. The picking up part is hard due to crop unless you have a good sized fla

Good news and some very Bad news!!!!
v-max replied to martin's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Hi Martin very nice i have been looking at these scopes too as there a good deal as far as i can see. Personally im a S&B man but there prices are out this world for what i want & the zeiss offer what i want with a good price compared with S&B/swarovski. As for the tick iv been there a few times & i get the missus to help out down there with them as i can do it myself right. You must get that head of the tick out so get a sharp pin etc & get it out or go to your GP & get it dealt with as i see you can get an injection now for limes all the best. PS keep me posted on -

Well done to your bitch get some lamb lack from harbro for the powder milk 10kg bag & i have always used beta puppy food & rate it highly. Sorry for my honesty but cant stand chocolate labs never seen a good 1 pet or worker & they seem to nothing but problems in my area with the 1s i know of but i dont rate much of the owners either behind the dogs.

Hi sorry to burst your bubble but james douglas was a twat & couldent train a dog to save him self the dogs were trained by others & he made videos etc. I dont have many books nor read much but i can highly recomend Working Springers & Cockers by Mike Smith who also trialed spaniels & this to me is a very good book as it lists a profile on the people behind spaniels like Ian/Wendy openshaw/peter combes/carl colclough/denis douglas to name a few & also lists hundereds of FTCH as in most successful stud/bitch a wealth of knowledge to any spaniel enthusiast & of course fu

Hi nice area mark looks like it would hold a few deer. As for views you know iv seen some great views from some of our Angus Glens but there all unique in there own way trees or no trees beats sitting about the house . I do agree a bit with wireviz as to the trees but wouldent say it was s**t still nice in its own way.

Hi as some of you know Dave our (remmy) is a friend of mine now & comes up now & again to see our fantastic area of Angus & stalking. He loves the change of scenery & our vast fields of crops compared to his stalking back home & our big bucks we have as he has seen some of his biggest bucks up here when out with me. Unfortunatly i lost my main farm 400acre in the end of march & i havent seen much moving on my other local farms due to crop but seen deer out in other places. Daves trip was 28th-29th of may so we had an evening stalk local to me & seen a cracker i reco

Hi sorry but im going to honest & i think you should not do this alone. You need guidence as if you dont have a clue nor cant find or know anything about the animals you hunt how the hell you going to know the shot what/when & then what to do once dead if you kill it right pest or no pest it deserves respect. To find & locate deer etc is quite easy to be honest & if you stuggle at this then its in your interest to seek guidence as you could wait a while till you get lucky but could be done quickly with help.

Bedding a Remington 700 SPS V + PICS!
v-max replied to philip140's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Hi very good job there but i would have just got an HS-stock but i suppose it was fun doing the bedding work. As for your front mounted preasure what you took off just replace it with your jb weld or arldite right round the inner of the stock i did this with remmy 700 when i had the factory stock mistake!. You dont want to much as you are only looking to get the same depth as what you removed from the front hope this helps. To free float your action you might have to look into rebedding the front/recoil lug area with a bit more jb weld but dont screw the action right down into it. Failling th -

Nice dog iv had 1 or 2 when i bred my bitch they are quite common in Angus now & the red ones can fetch a good price as demand for them is high. 12yrs ago i kept a yellow dog off my first litter & was the only person beating on a certian estate with a yellow now there quite common. Im not sure what i want off my next litter black or red but it has to be a dog i know that but we will see what catches the eye.
