  1. One of huntings great charicters... R.I.P. Len, you were bloody good company.
  2. I know a lad who took all his dogs at the season end. The man reckons the terriers back was all misaligned, few cracks and off he went. How would you know they've done anything if theirs no initial symptoms of an issue? Always gonna be more difficult to spot problems in a terrier but IMO its an area where you need to look at the greyhound and lurcher men. They know their worth, so with working terriers you'd have to base it on that...
  3. Could have been much worse... Glad he's on the mend an well done you for your efforts. Now when he's back in the game, get back out on them bunnies..!
  4. 100% with you on that ....... Be interesting to see if anyone's done it or even thought of tryin it...
  5. Ok, on the same subject then, fitness... How many would consider taking a working terrier to a bone man after a hard seasons graft. Twisting and turning, squeezing tight spaces, forcing themselves further and pushing bodies to their limit for hours on end. Only have to look back on the last few digs to see how much their bodies take. Could/would it make a difference to make sure discs, shoulders, wrists etc are put back into place after months of graft to help next season. Personally, i think it would be invaluable and, just for the record, i'm of the opinion that a terriers excercis
  6. Always liked her, thought she would be bloody good company. A sad end. No age to go....
  7. I believe its all to do with everything and we all got to keep trying to find it. With working dogs of any type, we have to take or blinkers off...
  8. I have read somewhere that the worst offenders for sheep worrying are the pastoral breeds. As hearding is only a quazi form of hunting for those breeds, so they tune in to it better than any other.
  9. It's just those tiny lines in local rags and on local tv that plants the seed in peoples heads. Little bits, just to make people aware of something they wont have heard of before but you betcha they'll hear it again and again. Tip of the iceberg for you Irish boys... Keep your noses clean and your cards tight because its coming...
  10. It must have been Stones, though i can't remember the dogs name, he did have a russell bitch he was gonna put it too. The lad lived up by Anfield (ground).
  11. I've met the best of em and the worst of em. No different in that as the rest of society...
  12. As said, a little bit of closure. Though there are no words...
  13. A lad i knew had a smooth 30 years ago that he could dig to regular. Never took any stick, just a constant screamer. Almost fecking annoying. I hated that elongated skinny head though. Crackin ratter too.
  14. If anyone has Wolfy in mind with your posts, then i will vouch for him, he's my mate. I have known him since we were kids and thats nearly forty years. He's kept terriers in all that time and digs weekly in season. He has a wealth of knowlage and is great company when talking dogs but when it comes to posting on line, its almost only late on Friday nights after a few too many. Damn shame as he has so much to offer but thats him, i cant change that.
  15. Unfortunatley i've been charged with GBH... 'Great Big Head', i have a massive bonce, i get it cut by the acre... Apart from wooly hats on cold days, in almost all hat types i look a tw@t. Which is a pain as i like a nice titfer.

    Wellies.

Them heavy duty 'Herman Munster' Purofort are fecking indestructable. Had mine over two seasons now and i've give em some stick. Warm, lightweight, comfortable and solid. If i dont get another 5 years out of em i'll be gutted. Edited to add, the grip on the feckers is excellent.
  17. I must be the only one who thinks he's dropped a bit of a bollock with this one then? Whatever he wants to do, however he wants to do it, the nitty-gritty of it all doesn't need to be so openly, easily said IMO. No need to come across as a wannabe Putin and i think even the Russian leader would have more sense to blurt out sommat like that... Under some questions Trump needs to be more of a polititian. Hard line yes, America both wants and needs it right now but in this climate i betcha his real enemies are a lot more close to home....
