  1. Heard from more than one source that Spud was not a first cross but the dogs long dead so who should care. I know if i was gonna breed an F1 cross, i'd be finding a Beddy stud that knows its job underground, if there is such a beast...?
  2. I'd go with Micky's advice and ring it, the strip of bark to be removed need only be a half inch around and you can rub a bit of dirt in it to cover the lighter trunk underneath the bark. Use a Stanley knife and a narrow chisle, or sommat similar, just for picking the bark out from between the cuts. Sap cant rise, tree die's, real quick.
  3. If you mean the black bull cross, he gifted it to AT when he left for HK. Its still in AT's kennel, 4 years later and few give em as much graft, so that speaks volumes. Thornton's spitting distance from my house, so if it comes off that would be great... ??
  4. I think its the only complete they do (i've only ever shopped in the Lidl closest to home!)
  5. Yep, soaked for me too Joe. Have fed both ways but would rather have a dog hydrated all the time. I dont like a dog drinking gallons to digest its food.
  6. Couple of years now for me mate and the dogs look as well as they have ever done on anything else. ?
  7. He was home last weekend and as usual called round to be fed ? He's doing well over there but all he bloody talk's about is dogs and hunting..!
  8. Fed just about every good greyhound kibble on the market but was forced to buy a bag of Lidl's complete one time and was gobsmacked how well they looked off it and how it came out the other end..! I feed mostly chicken carcasses but as Phil said, a little bit of everything too.
  9. I try to keep mine in decent nick right through the summer. My busher keeps the lurcher on its toes, every walk turns into a hunt. Long bike rides a couple of times a week and as soon as the fields come down around my house, the thrower comes out and they both are retrieve crazy. Like a bit of retrieving down at the lake too. Though nothing gets em as fit as real graft, i've got mine at a decent level to make a start. As for grub, just Lidl complete with either chicken carcasses (always got a freezer full), mackrel (whole) tinned sardines and loads of fresh eggs from my neighbour AND kitc
  10. Fine fine litter, that black n tan really takes my eye... ?
  11. Great write up Shroom, enjoyed that...?
  12. Re-enforced my stance as to why i'll never attend. Just bullshitting cruel cnuts showing off...
  13. Went over to Dublin two years ago on a Stag do. Every other group of cnuts was dressed in Peaky Blinder clobber, bars were full of em. Most of em looked propper shite too. Bet they all thought they were clever as feck before they went BUT realised they looked like bellends when they were dressed like another 5 groups in every bar in Temple Bar. It put me off the series, between that and the shite brummy accents. Thankfully Tom Hardy's Jewish gangster and better acting saved the day, so this series better be good as he's now dead..! Role on Taboo... ?
  14. For the first time this year i didn't get to go round the show ground, though i know full well, like most GF's its a shadow of its former self... I discussed it with Strong Stuff and a few others over the day. Hunters chat on line now and buy their gear cheaper there too! For the layman, i'm sure its still a good day out though, from hounds to steam engines, farriers to flyfishing theres loads to see. As far as the dogs go, i thought it was a good year in the rings. Some cracking dogs, good judges and a great day to meet old friends and new.... As it should be... I'll put some p
  15. In the early 90's a mate of mine had a bitch bred out of an imported Saluki bitch to a big mean collie blooded lurcher. Though we just terrorised the local hares on Altcar esate and surrounding areas a few times a week, her killing abilities were well enough known that the lads we knew, who ran the fens for money, were offering big money for her. Then knowing that she would never be for sale, were making offers to him to take her down there and compete. My mate never did, he loved that bitch and never wanted to see her in any different light than as his hunting pal... Time does make
  16. The show bench and nothing more..!! Hinks was a dog dealer, who 'created' them to look the part and sell...
  17. Agreed mate, i once owned one. A family pet that I, as a keen kid, used for anything and everything. Would i get one as a working dog though... Not on your nelly...!
