  1. Montane are great bits of kit BUT best worn next to skin or with a very light, wicking top underneith. It's only a pertex outer layer too, so dont go bramble bashing in one but for a good yomp on a cold day, they are spot on... ?
  2. Some did, the rest of working class innercity Briton ate out of the frying pan and started dropping off their perches from 50 onwards... Doctors in the A&E wards will ask the families of older heart and stroke patients what they did for a living. They get a feel for the lifetime state of health in the patient from that... In working class people, daily fry up breakfasts, spam and white bread butties etc for dinner and a couple of pints in the evenings, Woodbine and Capston ciggies all day... etc The state of heath in this country post WW2 was/is shocking and yet WE have so many i
  3. Yep, a big bowl of Swiss style muesli topped with a shit load of fruit from my garden... ?
  4. On Great! Classic tonight at 23.40 - Used Cars. A 1980 Robert Zemekis film starring Kurt Russell. Been many years since i last watched it but as i remember its a great bit of fun...
  5. Two terriers stolen from Lowestoft last night (11/7/21) between 18:30 and 23:30, a white JR Terrier dog about 10 year old and a Black Patterdale Terrier dog with a white blaze about 6 months old, microchipped, There’s a reward leading to their safe return
  6. Watched Darkest Hour on Saturday night, followed by John3Wick. Really enjoyed Darkest Hour and although i have watched the other two, John3Wick was the biggest pile of crap i've seen in ages.
  7. Fool i may be, but i've turned down many offers to go into breeding programmes of dogs like these. Point of fact is that many dog lads are breeding the arse out of these hideous monstrosities for coin. I loath the practice... I never got into this game to make money from it, for me it has always been at my expence to keep working dogs and enjoy them at their work. I have my morals and always will do...
  8. Rats and rabbits should be your main two quarry species, unless you want to work your terrier underground and then working above i'd just stick to rats. Loads of stuff a terrier can chance catch, some have been mentioned. I also had a leggy Lakie that cought a couple of hares and had a knack for moles and patridge too. Just read your question above and terriers love working brambles and will get scratched to bits but it doesn't bother them and with a clean up, shouldn't bother you ? Have fun... ?
  9. I've also seen them and will confirm that. I seen them in the field on a days hunting on a freezing day in the snow. I never seen them run that day, as we were on different pegs, but they did get a couple of runs and surprised a few. Out of all the dogs there, at half time, they looked the most comfortable. Remember having a look over them and their teeth were fecking huge ?
  10. Yer, a bag or tub really forces it up. Just make sure its well watered before you cover it. I'd like to core hollow tine in Autumn, as it better to do it twice yearly but my lawn gets too much hammer in the winter from the dogs, so it'll probs just be the fork and a bit of a top dressing/sand mix and i'll seed into that mix before applying, with a bit more seed on top for good measure.
  11. I had an idea you were down there somewhere, basking in summer heat. The heavy clay of my neck of Merseyside took a while to warm up this year. Even with the stuff i pre-grew, i had to be patient before i put it out, or it would be shocked... It still was..! Thing is a couple of weeks after i put the grown corn in, i just thought sod it and put a couple of rows of corn seed in. Right now you can't tell which is which. Proof to me to wait and sow when the soils ready. I'm so keen to get things started but i've got to lean from that... ?
  12. ? Looks great Arry, both your beans and corn are much further on than mine.
  13. Thanks, i very rarely water my lawn mate. Was told by an old boy greenkeeper that if you water regular, the grass gets too used to it and won't hold if it's dry and you can't water. That germination idea sounds spot on BR, gonna give that a try ASAP. I usually seed in a soil/compost mix direct on the lawn. Though i do cover with either a pegged down plastic bag or clear plastic take away tray to force it a bit but to grow prior to putting it down makes perfect sense.! One other thing on this thread is about airation/spiking/hollow tyning. I've always hand forked and top dressed to ai
  14. In a constant battle with pee patches, though i'd rather have that than everything upright stinking of pee, when i kept dogs rather than bitches. Between pee patches and a bin licking desert blooded mutt that rips it up doing high speed laps, it's bloody hard work maintaining a lawn...
  15. Lovely pup that... All the best with him ?
  16. I'm out more daytime than anything else these days but i still consider myself a lamper.
  17. Did that with peas last year and never seen a single shoot. This year i've done runners, broad beans and mange tout in trays before planting out. The MT looks poor tbh and for some reason my broad bean plants are dying off, one plant every couple of weeks. Same spot as my bumper crop last year but this time they look stunted in their growth too... ?
  18. Thanks Arry, yer should be better than last year. It's only the plots, second year, as i did it during the first lockdown and it's not on my land, my garden is the other side of that fence but i'm loving my bit of Guerrila Gardening. Though i've had a better veriety this year. I'm deffo gonna grow my spuds in bags going forward and put other veg in its place. ?
  19. No mate, you need to get a grip, bounce on here giving it the big one... I didn't warn mC for any other reason than his own disruption. I kiss no ones arse on here, so please get your facts right. Could you be any more childish in your post... Pathetic...
  20. Sorry it wasn't for you mate. I didn't like it the first time round but really enjoyed it second.
  21. Is this where you can be prosecuted on the suspicion of coursing/lamping?
