  1. Great pics Torchey, first and last for me....
  2. It's a Solway i've been after for a while now but I just can't get my head around the price for second hand ones..!
  3. Get yourself a good purebred Greyhound and you'll kill more gear than with any other type of running dog.... BUT the problem (and its massive!), is finding yourself a good Greyhound, perhaps 1 in every 100 really makes the grade. i could list a whole load of problems but the best way to say it, is that i've seen more greyhounds dead, trying to work 'em than any other dog and a long time ago I gave up with 'em and realised why we have lurchers!!
  4. Few men in these Isles have the foresight, time, patience, honesty and money to do this properly... Fewer still would make that many culls....
  5. Nice work Jai.... Them arty types Good on ya....
  6. Right, topic cleaned up, if you posted honest and I deleted it, then my apologies, as i did rip through 'em. Anyways, post for working terriers, to support working terriers... post honest, post for all...
  7. why dont you delete the last few pages of shiite That I may do, though i'd rather it just gets back on track and folk understand that, saves me the bother, that way I can read and contribute to the thred's I want to without fixing shite posted by others....
  8. This started an interesting thred, with good debate, one's gone, be a shame to lock it....
  9. Bull Grey to Bull grey or second gen bull grey's usually shape up better than their first cross parents. That said, not even first crosses throw 50/50 anyway. All lurcher crosses in truth are 'variables' but different shapes suit different folks. Ensuring parents are good enough to breed from and choosing the right pup out of a litter is more important...
  10. Why don't you debate, not slate, because as Paulus said, you won't be on here too long...
  11. You only have to look at the Facebook link on the forum page to find me, my pic's on there almost none stop!
  12. Over the years I've seen some very good dogs of this type BUT i'd be forever wary about buying a pup for earth work with one half of its blood from a dog and ancestry that has never seen a hole. Real working terriers are difficult enough to produce but think on about how many in a litter of this type may not go to ground... Best of luck.
  13. Don't see the point in putting all that time, money and effort into re-creating breeds, unless its for coin. From a work point of view the 'went' for a reason, no point dragging 'em back. That time and money would be far better spent improving what we have. Sick to the same just make it better....!!
  14. Formby if i'm not mistaken..? Well done you for sticking by your pup, losing it at such an early age should see the dog adapt well, bags of fun to be had with her in a place like that. There are a few of us on here with one eyed mutts and we all get 'em out and do a bit.
  15. What a great gesture, great result and great write up, really enjoyed that....!! Well done mate, our game needs much more of this type of stuff....
  16. Dunno much about those Wheeler dogs, when they hit the back pages of 'certain mags' they all just reminded me of bigger versions of those mini bully Nuttall dogs that got themselves real messed up on the simplest of jobs... (Too much bull IMO..(?) The Spartacus dog was, I remember, full of himself. Though Gouldie's line produced plenty that were very timid and in all those I seen, it didn't make one bit of difference to working ability. Never seen those types 'lumped' together before, like its the 'norm' (???) most have either gone with one or the other..
  17. Get it up ya coward. For the abuse you've just given me pray you look like a greek god! N...n.....n......now d.....d.....d....don't ger.....ger....get all h.....h.....h....het up Ga....Ga.....Gareth !! Lol lol
  18. At 10 months, that food would be best split into two meals. Mine stay at 2 meals from 8 to 14 months. Though if they are doing anything other than exercise, one of those meals is very light.
  19. A good working lurcher is an investment,..so there is no hurry to be doing too much,.. of anything... Personaly,..I would allow the dog as much freedom to run and play, as is safe to do so,..and concentrate 100% on socialisation, socialisation,.socialisation..... This is an all important attribute, in the 21st Century,.lots of things for a raw boned youngster to take in, understand,..appreciate and hopefully not be fearful of...Once a young canine feels comfortable and secure with everything around him,.the actual schooling bit,..ain't rocket science...so,.just get yourself out and about,

    Brogues

TKMax in town was doing those about six months back, the boots and the shoes and they still wanted two ton for 'em. I'd have loved a pair but not on my budget...
  21. Though I'd rather have Winston on my mantlepiece, Charlie is the better and more striking bust by far.
