  1. Pablo, i hope you don't mind but i edited this post to get it right. As far as i'm concerned Ste is the best hunter and dog man this city has ever produced and his dogs have been sommat special. A book should be written before it's too late!
  2. Maybe it's just me but imo any half decent running dog can be a good lamper, nothing that hard in the game. Greats are a bit different though but behind both is an owner that is both keen as feck and has a fair bit of lamp savvy and it's him/her that makes the dog... No doubt about it!
  3. Damn, that is sad news... Edited... i missed a post on page 2....
  4. Fatman, I started digging with you shortly after Spots passing and you said then that you might never have as good again.Knowing just about every terrier you've had since ,up 'till the present day and the ones you have now it's nice to see you speak fondly of him. What's more, knowing the standard you've kept since then Spot must have been some worker or he'd have been long forgotten because you've had more than a few good ones since then. It's funny but we Irish have had the coloured terriers now for 30+ years but most of us still have a soft spot for a good white one. Especially the
  5. Dogs and ferrets, if i can get it, they get it raw.
  6. The key attribute a good lamp dog needs is a bloody good owner...
  7. I thought a lurcher was a cross between a sighthound and a working dog. A fen dog which is mainly saluki x greyhound which makes that a longdog not a lurcher. 2 different dogs, for 2 different jobs. Ha, maybe it's worth a look back at the history of coursing blood in this country...
  8. They are ALL Lurchers, pure and simple, with some types excelling at certain quarry or ground. It's up to the owner to choose the type best suited to his or her needs.... People over label these fecking dogs too much!!
  9. A big black dog called Duke that a mate of mine owned. The most ignorant, arrogant, boring, robotic dog i have ever known but with the most determined, one-track mind i have ever seen. The dog was text book, week in week out, season after season. He was some animal.
  10. Real nice pups them Mud, keep us posted mate.
  11. Love old pics, keep em coming.
  12. Personally, i wouldn't give a flying feck. If it makes it to graft, you could loose it at it's job. So provided the vet ain't expecting some lucrative, long term treatment, crack on! Even if it turnes out a nailer to work, I very much doubt i'd breed off of it. The condition 'may' be heredetory and you wouldn't want that in a line. My daughter also has a heart murmour and swam 600 metres on her 5th birthday...
  13. I go at least four times a week. I check it's all on, it's all clean and make sure the instructors are doing their job properly.... Serious work. It don't half take it out of you..!
  14. I can vouch for Tim's unsociability, it's driven both by his looks and nasty little habits. Even subscriptions should be handled by a third party!
  15. That's just the thing, I don't want to be a CA basher, i really don't but lets not get too historical, this is an issue for now because its now that we feel unsupported. If it's all about politics, what political party would only publish its manafesto through its own magazine, leave out issues that a huge chunk of possible supporters need to know and never speak directly to the public to try to win them over with what they are or going to do...?
  16. This is a great post and covers the point my rant misses... Why isn't the CA leaning on the media, why cant it find a friend in public television... Clarissa done it so well and was 'our' best champion and sadly she's gone with no media replacement! That should be the 'direct route' to us, show that they are trying to win over the public, just as our enemies do daily!
