Lets be honest here, all the big GF's have lost touch with the very people they want through the doors. Ten years ago it was boom time and everyone went to the fairs, planned it out through the year. These days most of it is tat or overpriced gear. They need a re-think, get back to grass roots. Without the dog lads they are finished but they cant see the wood for the trees... -

Oh lordy, you only have to mention some big brute of a new breed and the peddlers will be scouring the tinterweb for breeders. Bought for buttons, imported and peddled for thousands till the arse falls out of em and every rag-arse in the citys have em and the pounds are full to bursting....

Though i know what you mean, in the field there are too many variables BUT as said, a lurcher should ONLY be judged on what it catches and it dont matter how feckin fit you think your dog is, if it catches feck all, it's shite...!

My old dog here will die trying to get to me. He tries so hard to constantly please me but those doggy traits can win and he can drift like the rest. A good bitch can be every bit as good and then some. But it really dont matter, its down to whats available, what suits and what you want from it and that makes it all a level playing field. Ya pays ya money an takes your choice... But... Everyone admires a good bitch, never forget that...

I think some people over think fitness. Of course a dog must be at a certain level of fitness to start work but it's only that work that can take em to any real standard but lets not get carried away, performance is the real measure of any lurcher, fitness only helps performance!
