I thought we all born into a meritocracy. Not into a caste system. You should be promoted on merit and ability. I don't believe a man is better than me because he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. This country is riddled with snobbery and an ancient class system. It starts with royalty. We need to modernise and get rid of this stupid system which writes people off before they have a chance.

I'm not on about how hard they are. I'm on about the fact that almost all ranks above lieutenant are public school and Sandhurst. Comprehensive kids don't figure in their recruitment targets. It's your school, your uni, your accent, your social class which gets you into officer class. Check out the stats.

I don't get this continual focus on illegal immigration across the channel. The UK pays out a lot less than other comparable countries on asylum seekers. Most of the boat people are from countries where the west has been poking its military nose. Many are genuine asylum seekers. Civilised countries have to accept their quotas. With respect, that's low self esteem. "I'm paid enough, I'm ever so humble, I'm only a working class lad." Bollocks, you should be able to pay your bills without scrimping. You shouldn't have to ration heating. I remember you writing once that the army was an equal opportunities employer. How can it be when the best ranks are occupied by a particular class? Promotion to the top ranks is denied to working class blokes, no matter how much talent you have.

Yes but if you are a family man you need to be able to pay your bills without rationing your heating etc. If you ask somebody to put their life on the line you should at least pay them appropriately. I know a bloke who works for a big estate. One of the royals came to visit and he told me the dogs are not house trained. The houses are so big, the dogs never learn the trick of whining at a door to go out, so they just crap anywhere. They have flunkies to pick it up. Good job the royals favour small dogs, could be a JCB job if they kept Great Danes.?

No wonder todays kids have got problems. They are fed a diet of cartoons and computer games. I don't think they can think straight. Exercise is completely foreign to them. I feel sorry for them, they are bedroom bound.

There was a bloke arrested and charged for shouting " who elected you?" at the king. That's all he said. Top rank in the police have had to warn rank and file cops not to hassle people who are simply holding up a blank sheet of paper. I've never watched the royals Xmas message in my life. But you are spot on. Its just spin and propaganda. If he's worried about us, his "subjects", he should nationalise his many houses and estates and let those who are suffering have them. He could put his hand in his deep pockets and donate some of his many millions. He could give one of the queen's corgis to iworkwhippets, he's after a dog. Why not volunteer at a dogs home? They are always looking for people to socialise and walk dogs. I used to do it. I would always make a beeline for the lurchers and walk them.
