Good point Mary, though it's stated above the fairs are open to all and there's nothing to hide when it comes to fieldsports. Yet letting everyone welcome and being on the back foot as others take charge is two different things. As Corkman says what happens if things turn nasty say for example a guy that works his terriers or lurchers hard in the winter months ( for what they were bred to do ) turns up at a show and say ISPCA or USPCA members don't like the signs of work on a dog and may feel it can be a breach of legislation and enough evidence for the dog to be taken away and maybe a prosecu

If they're bred from working stock that's been from a mans yard, from dogs you've seen dug over and they worked well and you wanted a pup! Then what's the problem? If you buy a dog in not knowing much that's a different scenario. All these good dogs came from men's yards, very little bitches though, Some of the best producing bitches were substandard, good solid bitches are few and far between. Yes there's many men have yards of well bred dogs.. Thing is there's men not even on here or even would know about this forum that have dogs and bitches and 3 or 4 foot digs is ok when your just diggi

Fair enough General - you did make it clear that you were passing on what you had heard and didn't make any allegations yourself. Sorry for putting the point I was trying to make to others to you in a question to you - I think I already knew what your answer would be.atbNo need to apologise Albert, it's a hunting forum after all and you haven't offended me in anyway, I hope likewise, healthy discussion never done any harm, only good. Neil's made a good point there about the ISPCA, I never referred to them as the same as the USPCA in the North yet my initial post was, if they were anything like

AlbertJ That's fair enough and I only stated what men had said to me and I replied to the content on this section of late, I'm sure your well aware of it. You had no need to repeat yourself as I read and understood thoroughly your position which you made clear at the beginning. Don't take it personal because I've no beef with anyone regarding dog shows. Any issues I do have which would be very rearly aren't sorted on the www. Also there's no need for you to be asking me silly questions now, atb.

What a Lakeland should look like ?
THE GENERAL replied to Tam O'Void's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Nice lump of a dog there Lee -
Nice looking yoke he is.

Shouldnt take much for them to go AT and best of luck with her.

That the pup you got a while back AT? She's very like my dog, would they be related at all or is she from different stuff?

It makes no difference to me as I don't go to many shows let alone participate, but the talk is a lot of folk are not happy with the goings on. Ive spoken to two different lads that were present and they said they won't be back story's that there was pictures being taken of vehicle registrations etc. Whether it's true or not I don't give a damn, the main issue is how can you run a working dog show if the men/women that work there dogs and make up the majority of the show are not going to attend, without them people there isn't any show. I don't think keeping the likes of the ISPCA happy or edu

Handbags at dawn again lol. Season starting shortly most lads can't wait to get at it, others are already organising events for next year which I've no problem with and I enjoy a good show, though I rearly attend let alone bring dogs. The only reason that would draw me to a show is to meet likewise folk and have a catch up and maybe get a few new collars or anything else that I may fancy. Reading the content on here over the summer months only reinforces my thoughts on the matter. Dogs that are in poor condition is one thing, but if the ISPCA are anything like the USPCA in the north they'd kno

Neil these other two pups from the same litter are the same very forward and bonkers. I seen them the other day again and they're crackers, two bitches he got I thought he said a dog and bitch but I was mistaken. This Poker dog was the same from I got him at 6 weeks old, must just be in all them dogs he's taken everything in his stride, can't ask anything more than that.
-
Nice dog. Yes he's black, it's not his fault! Forget the names etc. If he makes the grade and proves his worth, which I hope he does, still just another Black dog and long may they continue.

Let's be honest lads "aye but you have to draw the line somewhere blah blah" where do you draw the line? I might draw the line a bit further down the bar than the next man and likewise the fella next to him. So just to stop any arguments lads don't bring any working terriers that have signs of work to a working dog show just incase you might offend someone that draws the line where you don't! Forget about Game fairs because at them there's Joe public and they'll definately draw the line not where you do and won't like to see marks on a terrier. But at a working dog show which most are piss cra

If show ponies win there's men giving off, then lads bring workers to a working dog show and there's men giving off about that also, I'm genuinely baffled.

Them Derry lads like trying to give u a hard time Neil.

That's right Chesney RB bred Ali he was out of Milo and Tonic. I dug over the dog for a few seasons. He's dead a right while. -
Each to there own mate, but alls well and good until you slip another dog in on action and there's a bad collision and a there's a serious injury on a dog like a broken leg that could have been avoided. Also if your out on your own with one Lurcher and you bump into a fox and that dog isn't up to scratch you'll soon see it looking around wondering where it's mates are to help it lol.
-
That's a good point BB, maybe a 10 deck would be enough and smoke a few of them while your there ?
-
Probably wouldn't cost much for a pup most I've seen on them DVDs need doubled up so you'd like to think you'd get one for the price of a packet of fags lol

never said that they were equal in numbers to wheatens i did say that wheatens excelled but some even though a small amount of the kerry blues and glens worked and worked well in the early days if trials were brought back nowadays you would quickly see how far back the wheatens have gone working wise from been showed theres a few good wheatens knocking around still but they are small in numbers now too.I never said you did, it was just the way I worded it hypothetically speaking. I've a friend who's uncles bred and worked Kerry's for years and apparently they had good ones but I've seen no pro
