  1. Hacketstown Co. Carlow I believe Neil. There's another one very similar only there's Wheatens and Kerry's in the pic with the men, it was taken in the North though.
  2. I've got a few some are mine others are close friends and relatives of the men that kept them dogs. Most of them are not with us anymore, so seeing this forums a bit slow at the minute I thought I'd share a few maybe be able to get a good thread going. I started one a few years back but unfortunately I had to pull it because some people started mentioning names of men that still keep the breed alive today, which in my opinion was unnecessary.
  3. I've a head like a sieve and too much information at times. Pic of Hacketstown Jack or Brownlow Bob can't remember which one.
  4. Terriermen at a show in the 60s. Co. Carlow I believe.
  5. Just heard the sad news that Jerome/Sandy Mc intyre, Rock Lane, passed away this morning. Well known by many for keeping wheaten terriers all his life. RIP
  6. Not sure If this has been done already, what's the thoughts and predictable outcome for this multimillion £ fight.
  7. That Farmers was some spot walked in after a show got a pint and put a pound in the poker machine got a Royal Flush on 2s, £100. Didn't get home until the Sunday at 3pm such a session all the lads had. Great craic, the Farmers is closed now a brave while.
  8. Attended Tandragee show a few times, it was a proper working dog show. a good day out. Atb.
  9. About 15 years ago while out with my terriers on ground close to my home which I thought I knew inside out at the rear of a graveyard, a black bitch I had back then found a freshly opened up rabbit burrow under a tree. She squeezed her way in and within a few minutes made contact. I ran to the graveyard and got a spade and while digging to the bitch a vixen bolted. I broke into the bitch trying to dig past a large rock. Pulled her out and there in behind the rock was two fox cubs only a few days old. I bridged the dig and filled it in as careful as I could and while doing so noticed the vixen
  10. I have used them myself never had any issues. Couldn't make my mind up whether I rated them or not, I'm very sceptical when I get something for cheaper than its meant to be.
  11. They're some serious looking mills, I've only known wooden slat mills with steel frames and add a block underneath or whatever for incline and depending on what your trianing. Them yokes dog on it flat out not a sound. Hard to beat the noise of a dog rumbling on the slats though.
  12. I'd have waited until the stitches were out that way you know it's healed enough before you start any other treatment.
  13. Same here Socks, while doing the dogs I give the kennels a good clean and then a spray of Duramitex rub it in and let the air dry them out before dogs are put back in. I hear other lads swear by giving kennels a coat of creosote is as good as any, but never tried it myself.
  14. Only dogs with the MDR1 gene can have serious complications on ivermectin. Yes most collie types are renowned for having it, so do other types also. An easy test in the vets will let you know if a dog has it. There shouldn't be any collie in my terriers so hopefully if I feel the need to use it I will be ok, fingers crossed lol.
  15. Thought I'd give the terriers and boxes a good going over with this stuff on that good evening we're having, hard to beat in my eyes. Give them a worming and some Thornit powder for there ears. Anyone else use Duramitex? What's your views. Atb.
  16. Only certain collie bloodline dogs im led to believe. Know lads with collie cross lurchers never had a problem using it. 0.1 mil per 10kg body weight. That's straight from my local vet, who am I to argue. Wouldn't do it that often though, supposibly it's hard enough on a dog can set them back a bit. I've only ever used it for skin problems wouldn't use as a wormer as there's plenty of good wormers out there to cover them all, milbemax the best I've used to date. Edited to add I wouldn't use the same wormer repetitively always mix them up.
  17. people should be dropping rabbits of 6here 9 there that sort of thing.all i see is the english lads ferreting and necking rabbits, ive never seen this over here anybody i know all keep um live. You do know they're edible ?Most lads as you say neck them as most lads are not messers. their also 7quid each at the dog track, thiers fellas labouring alday for 60quid.That's true but I doubt you'd get a mortgage on that basis lol.
  18. People probably afraid to go to Lurgan, rough place thon lmao
  19. Bit too much eye liner for my liking.
