  1. The bottom of the lake is mulch and muddy even when wadding around the outskirts when fishing you have to be particularly careful, it's an unforgiving place. I lost my footing one day a few years back in 3ft off water and the effort I had to put in to get my feet free and stand upright was a scary experience to say the least.
  2. You would think so but the bottom of this place is just as dangerous as the surface so wading the area to locate it would be risky.
  3. Thanks Fatman I'll pass that on to him, sounds about right. Will let you know the outcome
  4. A mate of mine was out on a Lough doing a spot of fishing and his outboard decided to jump overboard. It's worth enough to try and retrieve and he knows the approximate area it's in. Max depth 6ft off coloured water. Any ideas on best way to try and locate it lads? Magnet on a string/rope no use as the shaft and prop are aluminium, net or diver has been mentioned. Any advice more than welcome.
  5. Yes D, but the whole show was worth looking at.Cheers Neil, yes I got onto watch the entire programme, it's great to see a bit of field sports on the tele for a change I could watch that type of programme all day.
  6. Is this it? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03mtjqb
  7. When a dog is ready for work it should be entered as much as possible within reason depending on the work ethic of the dog. I don't know anyone that puts a number in their mind and says when they get to that number they'll put the dog away until the next season! To do that would be trying to achieve a goal that you expect and your not thinking about the bigger picture. Numbers to me don't mean anything, to some lads it does but i would be more inclined to be assessing how the dog preforms and the determination to get results every time it is given the opportunity. Every dog is different so ho
  8. we are not responsible for any injuries caused whilst using this site There's a few on here could claim for RSI they're on that often, where and when they get the time to work dogs apart from being married to this forum is beyond me!

  11. For what it's worth I'd know a few shinners very well and they would do a fair bit of hunting themselves, shooting, ferreting, digging you name it, they enjoy a good day out as much as the next man but for various reasons I won't be voting for them and I told them that. I'll not be voting at all. I'll have to run it by them about the party's views in the North as well as the rest when the knock at the door comes, watch them squirm lol.
  12. My best mate worked terriers for years, we both did together, this past few years for different reasons he's gotten out of them and is more into gun dogs. He still has a few terriers about him so I suppose it will always be in him but he doesn't do much apart from xmas time every year we always get out together for a hunt over the holidays for old times sake and I look forward to it. I'd never imagine falling out with him for his choice to pack the terriers in, it's just one of those things. I know a few older guys done it for years and once they hit there 40's they packed it in. Everytime I m
  13. Cracking read Lutra well put and hope to hear more in the future.
  14. I've seen a big decline in certain areas, nowhere near as many compared to years gone by. I met an older man that lives local to me on the site we were working on, got talking and I never knew yet he had an interest in hunting until he said he'd been out all night before. He'd shot 5 and one was at 320 paces from the roadside where he had shot it from. That doesn't mean anything to meapart from, I knew then why around the local spots I wasn't getting any joy with the dogs. Then there's other places I go to that are snared and shot out poisoned you name it and I've hit lucky and got a hunt. No

  16. I put on the childish comments and ruining the thread part seconds after i initially posted it. Is that alright for you?
  17. I wasn't going to comment on this Neil but me two mate's was out today for a shot as it was the last day of the season for them and they bummed into a chap in ardee who knew you, they got chatting about dogs and yourself and he said this doubling dogs up is a regular thing with you and the brown dog yea keep aren't up til much ,,,only saying chum This is the reason a lot of people don't comment on this site anymore. That's right Liam and if you do comment you get critisized and told your on an ego trip when your only commenting on a hunting related topic, which is the purpose of the forum. Ot
