No mate he's not putting a clear roof on anyway only shed and walkway will be roof, a row of 4 galvanised pens will be on the concreted part so plenty of air and light for them so when it's warm they can lie out. Boxes will have lids for easy cleaning and extra ventilation if needed.

Cheers Katchum, aye sounds like money no problem as long as you don't have to give it away lol. Right lads what's the going rate at the min for blockwork ???
-
That's what I thought, tough going when your not at it all the time. He's in two minds whether to put tin on it or some other type of stuff he was mumbling on about. I'm out of there that's the main thing lol.
-
The wall with the holes for boxes was originally only ment to one course high to stop the splash of washing pens out. I told him he should build it higher and do it right but he didn't listen. Then when I was finished he decide to do what I had suggested, hence why it isn't tied into the pillar or other wall. It's not weight bearing so should be grand.

Neatness, sawcuts ? slap them in as long as it's plum lol

Just finsihed building a shed and dog pens for a lad I know. The shed is 14x10 ft with 3 windows and double doors ( I think he's moving into it lol ) and the pens have a rear walkway that have the boxes inside threw the 4 holes left out in the front facing wall. Pretty basic design, there's over 500 block in it. Thing is I haven't been building in a few years and I wouldn't be up to date with today's prices so I just thought id ask what the gong rate is at the min. Ps. I done all the work myself no labourer or anyone else helping.

"wall Of Fame Working Oldies"
THE GENERAL replied to bitchie's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Not like you to hold back Fat man lol. I gave a bitch that didn't suit me to a man in the mid 90s and he still talks about her to this day, most his kennel are bred from her and he would give anything to have a bitch like her again! My friend gave a bitch to a certain man for the same reason and the guy ended up writing an article in a magazine about her, best thing from sliced bread she was then. You wouldn't have said that if you seen her yourself. Mad old world we live in. -

I never seen the dog in the flesh, let alone work. All I know is that the dog we had worked well and was suited better to us compared to the stuff from Tonic as they where lacking in certain departments. That old Sam dog didn't make a name for himself either until he went down south. Same as a lot of dogs that men didn't hold in high regards when they had them but others did when they had them in there yards, it's just one of those things I suppose. -

A friend of mine had a grandson of that Sam dog, his dam was Penny sire was Tipp Tim. Very good dog he was indeed. We've still stuff out of him. -
I know a few lads that have good yards of terriers but they're tortured with this problem of dogs hoking in empty places. Ive told them and they know it's their own fault. Every time they run a fox into a bank with the hounds a terriers lifted from the van or jeep and brought down and dropped where the fox has entered so basically them dogs from a young age never really apart from the rare occasion get to check empty spots, so they more or less have it in their head that there's a hunt in every hole. Surely their nose tells them different but their heads are saying no he's in here somewhere!

Thanks for explaining that Blaise, I understand you now.

Thanks for that Blaise, I'm sorry to hear about Comete it seems like she was a useful bitch for the hunt, very unfortunate. I've lost you slightly on your last sentence, sorry for my ignorance in advance. 102 hunts with a result of 69 badgers could you please explain further as I was expecting the tally to be more than the amount of hunts and not less. Also do yous not stumble across foxes in earths from time to time when checking them for badgers ?
-
RIP Tosh, sorry for your loss Fatman.
-
So with 11 terriers worked the previous season obviously some being young dogs only learning their trade and only got, say a handful of hunts over them. Then common sense would mean that would be lowering the average for the more experienced terriers. Which leads to my next question. What was the most digs yous had over a terrier last season, what type of terrier was it and how many badgers and foxes where accounted for over the 102 hunts? Sorry for all the questions, I'm genuinely interested.
-
Blaise, what's the average amount of hunts a terrier would have during a season?

West Coast Of Ireland Fishing. Help.
THE GENERAL replied to mick20's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
My mate fished Ree last weekend they had'nt the results they were hoping for only one jack pike and 10 trout between a group of 5/6 of them. Biggest trout around 6lb. It does hold plenty of fish just takes you to be on them at the right time. -
Fell And Moorland To The Rescue Again
THE GENERAL replied to Rat face's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
In reality and it's only happened a handful of times to us over the years, if you get into a bit of bother there's people you know you can phone that at the drop of a hat will be on their way to help you out. So maybe it's not really needed to the majority of men, but some maybe don't have alot of people they could lift the phone or rely upon so that's when it could be needed. Anyway I was only stating it's a pity not just over here but that most places don't have the likes of the FMTC -

Get you now mate. No I couldn't see it being an issue, to be honest that kind of politics and hunting shouldn't be mentioned together in the same sentence if you ask me. -

I seen this post with pictures on facebook earlier in the week. Facebook is a lot like this forum, you scroll threw a tonne of shit and be lucky to find something interesting. What caught my attention was a pic of a guy with a black dog under his arm, his face looked like a child on xmas morning! So I read the article, it had been shared from the mans post that owned the dog and nothing was mentioned about what the media have stated. Fair play to FMTC you can't beat what those lads went out of their way to do. Nobody else would have been experienced to rescue that mans dog other than men tha -
It was £1 sterling to $1.33 the other day. So that works out about £380.

Craic could u give me an example of cave man behaviour? To me it's like the Main Street in my town on a Saturday night after 1am, ill treated dogs are very common, most are from pet homes normal Joe public that don't know any better. The majority of men that work there dogs look after them better than they look after themselves.
