    I used to have a nocturnal mooch with the air rifle and take the dog with me and where sometimes I'd be a bit wary of some bugger appearing in the dark it didn't worry me when I had the big brindle bellend with me because he would have nailed them.

    When you say he didn't like some men was he just wary of them or trying to get to them for a nibble? The one I had was a decent guard round the house but normally ok out in public but he wouldn't let you touch him if I wasn't there. We passed one bloke in the road while I was running him along the bike and the mutt was desperate to get him and was still pulling to get back to him half way down the road so god knows what triggered him but he wanted to bite that bloke. I wonder if he had been on my property while we were out and the dog remembered him or something

    The one and only time I got in bother with the police was pinching the pop out of someone's porch with some older kids. My first ever nose bleed was from one of them glass bottles my brother hit me with too Bloody pop man

    The sharp tooth forks are a lot more heavy duty than a normal garden fork mate, google them.

    Apparently they can be kept together in their big batch of fry for a long time and will only start scrapping after being separated into their own tanks so you would think it would be easier to manage them all together in a big vat rather than feeding individual bottles like that. They reckon if one male from a batch of fry beats another from a different batch then all his brothers will be the same and beat all the other batch.

    I've got a male koi plakat type in my tank here and he seems happy enough but he would be happier in a jar like the Thai keep them in making himself a bubble nest etc rather than in the flow of a filtered aquarium.

    I'd never really noticed alder beetles until a couple of years ago when we had a plague of them on the alder hedges on one of our sites. I've seen a few since but nothing like that first year.

    It's a bit like that round here, why is it not 5 or 6 babies though? In the past you'd see litters of younguns sat outside the warren?

    Plenty of hares around and more deer than there has ever been but the rabbits are still struggling. The past couple of years they seem to be trying to recover but they don't seem to be breeding like rabbits and replenishing their numbers.

    Would you not run some reinforcing mesh underneath it?

    Me and a mate imported some over here about 15 years ago now. I've got a nice one in the tank now but he's a different animal to them performance bred ones.
