Had a do out with the ferrets today on a bit of permission i've got that holds a few bunnies (the place we got 32 in the middle of the field in a ten holer) but its bloody hard work to catch them. Last week we did the hedge on one side of the field and had to dig practically every one out This week we did the ditch on the other side which is practically one burrow that goes the length of the field, with us only having 3 collars at the moment we used 2 jills and a tiny hob I bred this year which worked their arses off trying to get the rabbits to bolt or into a stop. My terrier had it a while back and it cleared up after a few weeks with stuff from the vets but I got some good advice off here to use Canisten on it and if it ever comes back i'm not going the vets.

Don't keep the light on all the time just have a quick scan round till you spot something, when you do get yourself between it and where it wants to run to then stick the lamp back on and either slip the dog or walk it up if its a squatter and the dog doesn't know to run the beam yet. As for technique you'll work out your own, everyone lamps differently but try and get yourself between the quarry and its escape route. Edited to add, keep the lamp on the rabbit not the dog or infront or behind the rabbit. Sounds daft but some people do it. Good luck.

I think I might go and see the miserable old gits tomorrow after reading this thread. Their always good to wind up (my mum can't cook and my dad supports Man City so their easy targets) but they know I love em to bits, when I was a kid I needed shooting not kicking out

Walk the dog over buries you've seen a rabbit go in and learn how your dog marks, most dogs have different ways of doing it. When he does mark bolt the rabbit for him and let him chase it so he's got a reward for marking.

See if you can get him to run them on for a week and then they'll be miles better for the ferrets, pay for his chick crumbs or something. A day old is basically a fluffy egg.

Their rare as rocking horse shite nowadays, when I was a kid every old woman had a yappy black and tan football with legs that would bite given a chance. As kids we took my mates nans one out for a bit of bushing and it picked it up real quick and was the fastest thing i've ever seen for her size, she'd let you in the house but just try getting out (it ate someones weed when his nan was on holiday and slept for a couple of days too ). A mate of mine knows someone who's been after a stud off one for a while now with no joy finding one.

Getting expelled for the second time round. The drink, drugs and waking up with birds in a completely different town to where I started and not having a clue what her name is came later on in life. I'm still young enough to be out there doing it but what a waste of cash and brain cells those years were
