    I watched a new offering on Netflix... the Mauritanian, It was a well acted and a well directed film which I enjoyed . I don’t want to spoil it and mention the plot but , there is a possible thread that could come out of it . Another thing to it’s credit it didn’t decide to cast masses of black actors .     The beauty of these callers is the way you can set them out in the area you wish to shoot and operate them remotely. I maintain that a good mouth squeak is better than any of these speakers but when you call yourself the fox is zeroing in on you and can potentially see you or wind you .     There is a problem with non lead alternatives for .243 , they don’t perform as deer round . I foresee lots of .243rifles on the second hand market . Also “ high bird “shoots ? How will it effect them ? I know steel has improved greatly since my early experience of them . But I think we will have to think more about the range we take birds . This has all come about because the shooting community needs to self regulate, otherwise there will be legislation. On the continent they don’t want lead in their food .     The shoot I keeper has been selling our birds for very little at the beginning of the season and then as the numbers of shot birds increase we give them to the game dealer. We also have a decent amount of deer on the estate. The syndicate has decided to invest some money and we now have a plucking machine, chiller , and newly fitted out preparation room . We will be able to sell venison and shot birds locally. The birds will be shot with lead and so will the venison .     I’ve been using Norma subs . I bought a 1000 and I’ve probably shot 150 so far . I was looking for an accurate and good alternative to the old Australian Winchester rounds that I’d been shooting and that I’d liked . I’m not disappointed.

    The professor and the madman (prime)Mel Gibson , Sean Penn , lead a star studded cast . I sat through the 2hr 5min film and it kept me watching and I didn’t fall asleep, I also didn’t have the urge to turn it off . Was it a great film ... no . But given the lack of new films at the moment, give it a go . It’s got to be better than , police interceptors or can’t pay we’ll take it away or Love it or list it .

    I’m not saying that it is the case with all of the homeless / drug/ alcoholics , but there are families out there who are so dysfunctional, domestic violence, sexual abuse , drug , drink . These people are not a rarity, it is unbelievably common place . I think that a lot of the homeless have not had a good start in life . What is remarkable is that there are not more of them . Me and my Mrs have looked after kids who have been starved / neglected, sexually abused and beaten . The damage was done to these kids .     Well done Stavross. I am ashamed to say that years ago I thought the homeless and beggars were just “lazy buggers” , who should get over their arse and get a job . Having done Fostering for a few years , I’ve seen first hand what drink , drugs and sexual abuse does to peoples heads . We shouldn’t judge people until We’ve walked in their shoes .

    You would have to really need a job to do that . I couldn’t think of a worse way of making a living , double glazing salesman perhaps, preying on the elderly? These “ enforcement officers “ are in fact salesmen, with targets . I watched a bit of YouTube footage of how they operate, it was wonderful watching them being filmed by phone and having the door shut in their face , with a few choice words of encouragement to help them on their way.?

    It will be interesting to see how you do . I’ve never tried anything that light in my .223 . I think that weight is more suited to Hornet and .222 . I was thinking of trying some different bullets , Berger , Barnes or Nosler . But in the end I just played it safe and ordered my usual 50grn Vmax . They seem to be performing well enough. They kill well and group better than I can shoot . I use the 70grn Sierra Blitzkings in my .243 and they are very accurate and kill extremely well . I’ve got them tanking along a bit too .     They say it never rains , but it pours . My rifles have been happily gathering dust in the gun cabinet for a while. As I posted the other day I’d planned on visiting the chicken farm , so I was all set to do just that . Today I was working on a house on the estate , doing some pointing and brickwork , when the estate / shoot owner drove past to tell me that his sister’s chickens were visited by Charlie last night .     It’s the same Marxist bunch that were holding vigils on Clapham Common for the girl allegedly murdered by the police man. The same bunch that want men banned from the streets and the police defunded . But what about Lorraine Cox who went missing last September whose remains were recently discovered dismembered in Exeter ? Hardly any mention in the press . It’s hardly been reported.     I went for a walk this morning and no trace of a litter of cubs . That is good news . I know this place like the back of my hand so it was easy enough to check , it’s only about 60 acres and about another 50 of the neighbours fields over which I can shoot and check . There is only really a thick ditch or dingle and a few spots on the bank . Brock is present in the sett so I can’t do anything about that . I will be out over the next few evenings to see what’s about . The foxes have not had chicken for a while as these are new birds that have not been out yet . But I guarantee foxes

    I thought I’d pop over to see the chicken farmer and see how he was . He told me that he can let his birds out 1st April. I said “ I’d better pop over and have a look “. There will be hungry vixens around now , probably with a litter of cubs , that are still reliant on her for milk . I always try to find the cubs . But my last couple of attempts at cubs with my terrier have been frustrating. I’ve got a tiny Russell bitch too . But they always seem to squeeze into impossible little rabbit holes . There is also a huge deep disused badger sett that I know reads 3.8 meters in places
