    Bit of sad news for me . My very good friend and keeper of a local commercial shoot handed his notice in the other day and will be gone by February 4th . He is moving to a 4,500 acre shoot in Northumberland. It’s a good move for him but I will be sad to see him go , he is probably the best keeper I’ve met . Most are big headed ego maniacs with zero people skills . My friend is different, he never loses his cool and is friendly and sociable . He is probably one of the best terrier men I’ve ever met too , his kennels are full of some of the best patterdale terriers you will find anywhere . His w

    I’m out of likes . But I have spent a lot of holidays in Polruan , and it reminds me that when this lockdown is over I will be down there again .

    My earliest memories from my hunting life are of ferreting. My dad kept racing greyhounds that we raced at Longlevens in Gloucester and Swindon. Some we kept at home and others were kept with a trainer on a farm . We always went to this farm on a Sunday to exercise them or take them to time time trials . I must of been about 7 or eight and one Sunday morning while I was walking a couple of greyhounds with my dad we stopped to talk to a chap in a trench coat and cap by this hedge , he had some rabbit holes netted and a ferret down , at that moment a rabbit bolted and he grabbed it and killed it

    It’s the mixed messages from the media that I find bewildering. On the one hand they show a woman in a hospital bed saying how serious it is , people dying in beds around her , then they hand over to the sport and it shows all the footballers not even attempting any form of social distancing.

    I get that sport brings much needed enjoyment to many . I haven’t heard of any commercial shoots near me carrying on , most are catching up and pulling necks now .

    My shooting season is over . The new lockdown rules mean that organised game shooting is not going to happen this season. I should have been out this morning for a shoot day today , but instead I’m sat on the settee watching the television. police are issuing fixed penalties for people driving to beauty spots for a walk . And there on the news are rugby players and footballers hugging and kissing each other , dancing around the changing room , and all the staff on the touch line hugging .     Some of the commercial shoots have had some big mop up days . We were holding out to see if there was a chance that we could shoot again before the end of the season but Boris put paid to that .

    I’m a mild mannered person who doesn’t usually let people get under my skin but Tony and Cherie Blair are two people that I feel hatred towards. That is a powerful emotion for people I’ve never met but they are both vile , corrupt , despoilers of a way of life in this country . I will never forgive or forget the hunting act which Cherie pushed for . Nigel Farage usually sees things from a common sense point of view but he has got it very wrong in thinking that man has anything to offer this country .

    Had a call this morning from a keeper , “ you having a walk around shoot today ? we have already started here at dawn , me and the under keepers and a couple of others are shooting as much as possible, today is the last day before lockdown, that you can do this “. So I rang the boss and asked permission, which was granted after a brief explanation of why it was necessary to get as many killed as we could . I then rang a few helpers and got our team together . They were either at work or at home . And in either case they stopped what they were doing and put guns and dogs and cartrid

    I was given a few bottles before Christmas and it’s been nice and cosy in the the SL house . On a few forays outside to put the recycling out in the evenings saw me scurrying back indoors, muttering things like “ feck it’s cold out there .     I remember back in 1982 and I was a junior soldier on a day trip to the imperial war museum . I was in a group with some lads from Ireland, they had never seen a black man in their lives . As we drove through London and they witnessed plenty of blacks it was like being on a coach trip in a safari park , they were fascinated, “ Bejeeezus , just look at the f****n state of em , der loik monkeys “ !!!! ????     I get what you are say Greyman. I’ve watched the video and I’m familiar with the hospital as it’s my local hospital and I’ve had to visit it from time to time . The ground floor where she is filming is mostly outpatient clinics. The wards covid and otherwise are mostly in the tower block and that is closed to the public, there is security on it and she wouldn’t have been able to show it . I’m only being devils advocate, because I’m against this level of lockdown .
