  1. Rapids are ‘olde skool’ now, but I reckon you could make one last a lifetime. I brought mine up to date slightly by fitting quick fill and gauge. I have faith that the thing will last forever.
  2. You made an impact on them, well done pav
  3. If you want quiet, eley fourlongs or cheddite silenzia are the quietest I’ve tried. Fourlongs don’t have much range though.
  4. They’re putting an oxidised coating on some of their ammo now Nathan. Eley edge are the same. It’s supposed to improve consistency in velocity. I haven’t managed to get hold of any of these new eley hv’s. Hopefully they’re as good as the old hv’s were. Let us know how you get on with them.
  5. It’s the magazine capacity. You can get 7 or 12 shot mags for the rapids, they’re interchangeable. Have a look for damaged screw heads and tell tale signs of ham fisted tuning attempts. Many have been butchered over the years by DIY home tuning as rapids were a prime choice for high power output. They’re strongly engineered though and can usually be put right by somebody who knows what they’re doing. A bit agricultural nowadays maybe, but I wouldn’t part with mine even though the HW100 is much more refined.
  6. Good stuff Nathan. I reckon the 99s is hard to beat for the price. Lovely little break barrel and well made too.
  7. Oooh, excellent stuff, them were t’days......I always wanted a feinwerkbau sport custom back in the late seventies/early eighties? The one with the chequered forend. Then later hankered after an airmasters 88 sport with tyrolean stock. Never had either though, but you never know. I did have a venom bsf b55 with custom tyrolean stock though. I regret parting with that, a very rare beast. I’ve since read that they only did 20 of them ?
  8. I’ve seen a few rabbits like that over the years, never a squirrel though.
  9. What’s that animal in the top picture Mark? Might be a rare breed, I’ve never seen one before.......and you’ve shot it??
  10. Cheers, I used to use my supersport.25 for feral pigeons in factory units and rabbits around factory units back in the nineties. Very successful it was too. I regret selling it really. I have a .25 Hatsan striker but it’s a bit basic. Works ok though and isn’t pellet fussy like the bsa was.
  11. If they’re crapping all over your feed bays get ‘em shot. They will spread disease.
  12. How do you rate the scorpion in .25. Is it 12ft lb? Is it pellet fussy? My bsa supersport.25 only really liked milbro rhinos.
  13. They’re all good, but I prefer the 99s because it’s lighter. Some people prefer heavy rifles, but I can carry the 99s around and shoot it unsupported easier than i can a heavy one. Tuned it and fitted a set back trigger and custom thumbhole stock and it’s a nice little break barrel I reckon. Lovely and smooth to shoot as well.
  14. Have you checked that the bore is clean and not full of anti corrosion grease from the factory? Also, if you’re running it at max power, it might be worth backing the power off a bit to find a sweet spot with the pellets you’re using. It might be pushing them a bit too hard? At fac power, different barrels can be really unsuited to some pellets and work well with other brands. They’re more ammo fussy than 12ft lb rifles and some pellets are all over the place as a result.
  15. I often take some with me, as well as subs. I have an embankment riddled with rabbit burrows that’s80 to 100 yards from cover depending on which part of the embankment. If I shoot the embankment if mostly use the hv’s when I’m out with the .22.
  16. Yes, I’m using mini mags at the moment but rws high velocity hollow point are my preference.
