  1. The original eley wasp .22 were the only pellets that my airsporters liked. I couldn’t get good power or accuracy from owt else I tried really. Similar with the Webley mk3, although it’s not quite as fussy as the airsporters were. I send to use champion pellets as well, they were popular, still got some left in .22, strangely, my hw99s loves them.
  2. What? You mean those beatall and bulldog pellets weren’t accurate? ? you’ve gotta be kiddin’ me Mark.? I used to pay 14p a 100/box for them, thought they were ace? and I could hit a tin can every shot.........nearly. Edit to say, my local hardware shop stocks boxes of 200 Marksman @ £1:37/box. Tried a few in my HW100. They weren’t quite as accurate as the jsb’s I can say for sure?...............
  3. I enjoy my spring rifles, even have a few pistols as well. I have some enjoyable times shooting them. I’d like another bsf if I could find one for sale at the right price. If it’s pests I’m after though, it’ll be a pcp in the truck, or a shotgun or a powder burning rifle that I’m taking with me, with the possible exception of feral shooting. I might well take my .25 springer for those.?
  4. Winchester 101’s are good guns. If you get on with a 101 it’ll be a good buy if it’s in good nick.?
  5. Good shooting. Send it to Brian May for his top pocket?
  6. That’s a nice looking piece Deker, is that the one that you used for that epic squirrel bashing some time back??
  7. What pellets are you using in the .177 HW100 Mark?
  8. Well I’ve had a bit of a play with some jsb’s at 25 and 50 yards. The advertised weights of these were pretty much on, so I took calculations using these. The pellets were 8.44 grain exact, 10.34 grain exact heavy and 16.20 grain beast. I took readings at the muzzle, at 25 yards and at 50 yards. Unexpectedly to me, I found that the lighter 8.44 grain exacts actually retained energy at 25 yards, better than the heavier ones. Not so at 50 yards though. Here’s the results for the 8.44 grain exact : mv 778 (11.34ft lb) 25 yard v 672 (9.55ft lb) 50 yard v 581 (6.32ft lb). 10.34 grain exact heavy :
  9. Great result Nathan, well done?
  10. Told you that you wouldn’t shelve the 12ft lb guns for long. When you first get the fac, you also get the novelty value of a new experience. After the initial massive grin factor fades a bit, you realise that they’re just different tools.? Good shooting ?
  11. Interesting stuff. I absolutely don’t need anymore air rifles though. Bought the HW100 on a whim, went shopping with Mrs Rimfire and called at the gun shop on the way back. Saw the ks model with the new style stock, liked it, brought it home. I’ve only played about with it as yet. That’s three pcp’s plus loads of springers, gas ram and co2. Had a clear out and sold a load off in the nineties, including my lovely venom b55?. Since then more seem to have crept back in though?
  12. How’s the 110 compare to the 100? Just out of interest like........?
  13. Same here really. I’ve got a good few spring and gas ram guns but I just use them for fun these days really. With modern pcp’s You’re buying performance and capability in multi shot that a spring rifle can’t do. No matter who’s behind the trigger, a multi shot pcp has superior overall performance. They’re a more advanced tool ?
  14. I’ll do a chrono test at range when I get a bit of time for it. As for accuracy, the beast is ok at medium range and the heavy is very accurate. I’ll run them both against the exact 8.4 for both accuracy and energy retention. As soon as I can get it done I’ll post it up? Edit to say, don’t know about shot count with the heavies, I haven’t checked that....yet.
  15. Have you tried any of these?
