  1. What have been done with the parents and have you any pictures?
  2. Met loads over the years. Some can't keep up, some don't like to cross boundaries, some take the piss and risk ya liberty. Some let you down, loads talk bollox ? keeping ya mouth shut at times is an important skill when hunting ? I think a lot of the time life gets in the way and makes things hard to organise. I tend to go out mostly on my own, as I can grab a hour or two here and there. Distance is a big thing with hunting associates now a days for me. As you get older people spread about and arranging meets becomes a bit of a thing. Driving a hour or two, to meet and take the dog

    Dobermans ?

They'll be loads of decent secondhand Shepherds that people can't handle, if you are prepared to drive and you know what you are looking for. Seen and been offered lots over the last few years, That's without even looking. Seen them all, at all ages.
  4. You seen a bird fly a Hare? A battle yes I agree, but chasing the fastest animal in the cuntry for a 10/20 seconds chase at most isn't giving the quarry it's best chance. The bird on bird thing is, I think the most sporting and fairly matched. A good Pheasant that can ditch in cover, or a heavy fast duck taken by a Falcon is pretty spectacular. I'm not say that catching rabbits isn't great action, because it is. It just seems easy, "if" you know what you're doing and Moorman, you seen to have sussed it. Well done geezer.
  5. I've seen Goshawks nail rabbits one after another and if the rabbit make 50m, it did well. With Hares as you said, the main feat is hanging on to them. That is unless the Hare has been flown before and it knows what is coming. then they're hard to catch. As a dog man, I cringe a how easy a Hawk makes a capture. As skilful and elegant it is, I call it mugging ?. "A waste of a good Hare" , I heard it described as. I still enjoy a few hours out with the birds and go as often as my spare time allows me to.
  6. Not read all of your thread, but how much does that bird weigh?
  7. Do you get much of a chase out of them Squirrels? Rabbits are a bit point and shoot with a Hawk and I always found Hares a bit unsporting.
  8. Yes, but it's up to you as the breeder to do your best in placing them pups, their destiny is in your hands and that is why you/we should talk about excess pups. The ones you keep are in you control and I can only speak for myself here. My pups have the best life and the best upbringing and I need not be concerned about those.
  9. Yes, I understand that with big litters, but you'd could be nutting the best ones.
  10. I'd like to see a good Boxer. Seen loads over the years and they were all pretty shite. Some had the aggression of a Bull dog, but that was it. I've seen a few doing man work, but these were Mastiff looking things and even then they weren't much cop. They possibly used a Boxer because there was feck all else to use at the time? So yeah, I'd like to see ya Boxer x.
  11. So a Shepherd and a herding type are differernt? So what do Shepherds do, if they're not herding stuff? I'm not taking the p, I just don't think I understand what you're saying. Are you talking about the different stock they herd? As in sheep, cattle etc?
  12. It'd be good for dog kennels, it would be good for loads of outside stuff. Shame if its all been dumped. I mean, if you were to build stuff that is made traditionally from wood, I don't see the problem. Anything that is rot and chew proof costs a fortune and I thought this gear would do the trick nicely.
  13. May be the birds that want him aren't of interest to him, who knows?
  14. We live in a valley with a nature reserve on one side. It's a very diverse landscape with scrub, hedges, woodland, pasture and plenty of water. I get through over 160kg of bird food per year. When we have friends stay and they're staying outside. I tell them that they should go to bed because the birds will wake you up, they tell me to sshhhh. I get up in the morning and go see them around 9am and they've been up for 5 hours, after a couple of hours kip and mostly drinking before bed. The dawn chorus is proper loud when your in a tent ? fecking townies.
  15. When I lived in town, the Blackbirds used to make a racket at all hours, must be the street lights.
  16. Same here. For the first few nights they drive the dogs mad.
  17. I've shot Foxes that have ended up like that Muntjac in a couple of nights. I have then shot the Fox doing it.
  18. Huge beast? A Muntjac? Jahid Choudhury? It's all becoming clear ?
  19. With all this Grenfell Tower business, what has happened to all the removed cladding? It would make ecellent kennel building material. Cant find anything online.
  20. We have 3 dehumidifiers ? they do warm a room up, but not enough to say its nice and warm. We use them because our living quarters aren't properly vented and stuff gets mouldy. Plus you'd end up looking like a bit of Jerky if you stayed in the room.
