  1. Sounds like wood hasn't gone up much in the last twenty years. Used to sell a cab star tipper load for about 45-50 I think hard wood. Shame you don't have some of this going on near you mountains of points we used to push over the edge to rot though managed to flog a few
  2. yea ok I admit it I cut me string too short
  3. yea and the good thing is its so light you can pop over your neck for when you walk the dog in the evening
  4. Very sad indeed that's the trouble with these dam dogs hard not to get attached to them even more so when they are good ones

  6. Good day out and I was thinking that simon looks a cracker
  7. I made a bow as a young man ah I mean young boy and it was rubbish so I threw it in the shed. About a year later I came across it and gave it a whirl and boy did it send an arrow a hell of a long way. It had had time to season and gave it a hell of a spring. I think it may have been ash
  8. I checked out a forestry block this morning. I had lamped the top but the field was way too rough so won't be doing it again. I hoped the ferreting would work out better. It was all going to depend on the age of the trees. I remember clearing the original block of larch 25 years ago or there abouts and they had been replaced by sitka or norway dense as hell. I tried to stick to the top where there was a bit of break in the tree's but it was still dark I could just make out the odd rabbit slipping across down into the wood. The dog took off down into the dark and I couldn't see a thing lol. I s

    Debt

fook em and declare bankruptcy (as long as you dont own your house) its like a breath of fresh air and a weight lifting apart from the inconvenience of no credit of any description for a few years which is no bad thing
  10. bloody right she will doing all the right things there
  11. Woke up this morning with the wind blowing but nice and cold. Decided to try a little wood I new of that has one or two about. Called into to see the farmer even though his been letting me go there since I was 11 it feel like a liberty if I don't check in with him now and again. We started at the top of the wood and I walked through the cover while the dog walked along the top peeping down every now and again as if to say keep up the good work the swine Then his nose went up and he came and joined me and started casting about. he stopped for a sniff at a set of holes bu
  12. yes common sense tells you not to blast the dog in the face lol
  13. The beam on the 500 is a bit tight i do notice that if i have to run to keep the dog in the beam. But I avoid that by getting in the right position in the first place if i can. I did a rough field the other night and used my other lamp to give a bit more spread so the dog would hopefully see the obstacles better. But he still managed to nearly knock him self out and I gave my self a reminder not to be so stupid in future. A poxy rabbit is not worth it
  14. gopro is very good especially for close up action and takes a tidy picture too. Not tried one of the cheaper alternatives
  15. Started with one of them cheap Lucas lamps of some description then got a spotlight fitted with a door bell switch which was a great idea instead of snapping off lever switches every ten minutes then eventually got the blue eye. I had forgotten what it was called until I saw this thread just remember it being blue and shiny at the time and very handy in the big fields compared to the others
  16. A carry box some cheap nylon nets, collar and a couple of bells off ebay to get going. A carry box make one or buy one bout 15 quid, 10 nylon nets a tenner and less than a fiver for a collar and bells not essential but handy on your own. Then over time you can get some tidy purse nets and a locator if you want
  17. Does that come with built in battery? yes it is built in. My mate whos very good with electric and soldering said it would be a doddle to fit a switch and a cable coming out so you could run off an external battery as well. But I don't think it would ever be necessary as 2 to 3 hours continuous is plenty for me any way
  18. I bought the Clu lite PLR- 500 after seeing it recommended on here and its cracking great range and bright. Also very very light
  19. I don't follow ruby but even I know who he was. Very sad for such a strong young well respected man to go so early RIP
  20. Only way I learned was having a pup and getting out there as he worked his way through the quarry list. Stuck to easy spots starting out and progressed and learned together. As for educating the public about terrier work you need to be of a certain mind set to appreciate what your little tyke does. As it tends to be the nitty gritty end of dog work
  21. To add had one a couple of nights ago his nose must have been touching the sheep netting but he turned back out into the field which was his undoing
  22. Get quite a few by the hedge a lot of time they panic or just be daft and run back out
  23. Best I have lol I have never taught him to jump I would rather he didn't as it wouldn't put any thing extra in the bag around here. One less thing for me to worry about. I have no problem popping him over fences when needed. He is a natural athlete and clears ditches and stuff no problem and soon finds a way through or round if quarry is the other side. Some superb picture on this thread though very nice
