  1. Biggest thing is to stick at it and consistency some days you don't feel like it but you all ways feel better after.
  2. I actually felt bad about cancelling it because they went to a great effort but have to watch the old pennies
  3. Only thing that would bother me would be upsetting my girls. We are all very close and get on well apart from the normal cobblers. Oh and could the wife handle the bloody dog lol
  4. its good grub really agreed with my dog and fed him for two weeks for 2 quid then I cancelled i think it was like 26 per month to carry on. You can cancel it in there control panel. Seem a very good company The scoop was worth two quid and they really do mix it for your dog in nice named bags
  5. They certainly have there niche though I am going by the one I have ever had. She looked like some thing that spent too much time down the dog groomers and belonged to a little old lady which she did in the end lol. But I still had to lug 21 rabbits home one night which is good going for this area. I would have another tomorrow
  6. lot to be said for trust I caught me dogs tail in the door going out lamping last night. It really hurt him and he looked at me as if to say why the hell did you do that. He caught 3 rabbits and each one he wasn't that keen on me having but he had been doing well on previous nights. His a funny dog on one side his full on and brash but when its comes to things like that his a sensitive soul lol
  7. Mine was like that but I found her fine on the lamp just picked rabbits close in and we have smaller fields around here by and large. I lamped a spot this year that I thought nearly killed my speed merchant I have now it was so rough. I won't ever run him there again but my beddy/whippet would have been in her element in it.
  8. and on another note I don't understand peoples reluctance to see a doc that's what they are there for. Most things can be cured if caught early but you leave it too late you might not get another chance. Push them along as well as they aint all ways that proactive
  9. bottom pic what a smashing russel dog or whatever other cross is in it's make up yes I thought that
  10. If the doc does give you the all clear yes running under a cold hose is a big help I found after a run
  11. good for you plenty of length on them hedges
  12. nope staying in try and give the poor rabbits a reprieve for a night or two they can only take so much lol
  13. I start all my seeds in a cold frame just to try get them a decent size before they go up the allotment. Also try and get ahead of the club root not that it helped much
  14. Most I ever had to do was 7 or 8 feet. All ways did my best to avoid any deep places and got the dog on a lead when we were passing any where bad. Got caught out one day ferreting and forgot about the holes ahead. A dog had been lost there once apparently and mine went down luckily there was nothing at home just a bit of scent. Bloody relieved when he surfaced and I actually ran into the trees shouting rabbit so he would follow and I could get lead on quick Out of interest if your going down to these depths do you start the hole off really big and keep it that way if possible ? I soon learn
  15. Just as well I never caught i would have devastated it in the kitchen like this poor sod still tough after two hours and me cream mustard sauce split
  16. time really flies gaz I remember a pic of her only few months old carrying a young rabbit on some open quarry type land. Looks to be doing great
  17. For once the wind dropped and no rain but it was on the way. We nipped out to a new spot I picked up and just walked a couple of hedges. The dog new there was some thing about and started working the hedge. Just taking his time checking things out nice and steady managed to pin it down in the end and gave a nice little mark netted up and popped the ferret in but the sly old rabbit bolted the far side out a sneaky bolt hole and was away. No big deal and nice for them to get away some times. He had 3 on the trot on the lamp last night so the fridge is ok anyway
  18. Amazes me how the little dogs manage. Jammed up tight, dark, heat, lack of air and a set of teeth in front of you possibly for hours at a time little heros
  19. This fella of mine though I think his great and wouldn't swap him for any thing and his doing grand job so far would he put more rabbits in the bag than this little chap i used to have that would be a big no simply because the terrier could get in any place and follow the rabbit any where. But then I couldn't take him lamping
  20. if you want a good ferreting dog you can't rule out any gundog, terrier, collie and obviously lurchers in all there shapes or any dog really. The real good ones can come in any shape. That leads on to the next question what makes a good ferreting dog and that will depend on what each person expects. For me putting them to ground and marking any thing else is a bonus
