  1. Yes I think if you just spent half an hour with some one with a bit more experience you would find it would be a different dog with some one else on the end of the lead and then you would think ah it is possible after all. Very easy to get stuck in a rut and think ah well that is my lot. If you just carry on nothing will change as you are now. So you could either go see some one or just have a dam good read up and try stuff. It can be mundane and monotonous marching around the same old field time after time but its got to be done
  2. I wish all he wants to do is hunt up. I have put the hours in will walk to heel until he goes into gaze mode then he gone ruled by his heart. This lead set up has stopped him lunging for any and everything. Think I took wrong advice and had him out ferreting at 4 months. I should have trained to good standard then introduced him to work. been there lol not to late to have a go at putting him right Can't stop mine mind if there is something about but up to then we ok them luggs tell it all, terry "who me dad ? NAHHHH " yes thats the look I get all these ye

  4. Does any one find there dogs act different in the yard with the ferrets compared to working. My dog now will be 4 in march and has been around them since a pup. They are in the back yard in the hutch or run and his seen them every single day. In the winter at least so far his been perfect. Its like his in work mode and knows they are tools to do the job. He does every thing right in the field and steps back out the way and ignores them. In the summer then to keep the familiarity going when I clean them out and let them run around the yard. He waits by the door and wants to come out and then i
  5. Teach a release command as well as heel command. Mine has no issues hunting on Don't get me wrong its took me fooking years and not perfect now but not far off

  8. with out with I often have a few plants left and just throw them in and not net. I have yet to see one survive. I may as well throw them straight on the compost
  9. A few cucumbers at home lots of tumbling toms though the plants don't look overly happy then we have marmade, superb and maybe a roma or two more tumbling and some purple spouting which i need to get up the plot and some beetroot need to sow some savoy sharpish but I struggle to get brassica going this time of year.
  10. That all sounds bang on and the exact opposite of what I did so thats how I know its bang on lol.
  11. I try and net every thing and if I don't its gone. Pain in the arse but got to be done. Also important to prop the net off any leaves. I fail on that bit some times
  12. I must say the first night i took the 150 out i found the colour of the light wierd and i nearly went back to the car for me old lamp. But after a couple of night i got used to it. For sheer convenience you can't beat them and for a couple of hours out which i do they are ideal. I don't remember the dog looking and me and saying I really don't like the colour of this light you know. He would have a crack if i used a candle
  13. not sure where you are or if your sorted but http://www.railwaysleeperswestwales.co.uk/
  14. I don't see a problem with an older dog. Just because the owner has got fed up or has other reasons don't mean the dog won't be fine. Some real crackers floating around on fb just looking for a home If I ever offer my dog up mind for gods sake don't take him His got more issues than you can shake a stick at
  15. close call and some ones going to lose there certificate
  16. I used a flashing yellow road light . I did turn the flash off i am not stupid I was only a kid and the fella up the road told me he went lamping with his lurcher and you got rabbits out in the fields at night so I wanted to see for my self. Turns out he was right

  19. Them lettuce look lovely and clean all ways a good selling point with the family that. I grew some butterball lettuce this year and won't be again. They are a magnet for the little slugs getting in. I grew some others as well nice and crispy much better slugs been on the rampage and decimated me runners which were looking good strawberries get a good nibbling as well. Nothing sacred ready for the caterpillars though
  20. aye get a couple of kits and gently does it. Depending on the dogs attitude kits will be quite tempting but as its a pup you are in good position. My dog has been around ferrets all his life but never seen a kit until a week or two ago and lets just say things didn't go that well But he is on track with them now
  21. Could look into cordons was thinking about a couple my self couple random pics off google
