Caucasian Ovtcharka Aka Russian Bear Dog Cross Greyhound?
NickF replied to yeoldhunter's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Hard to tell how much of the dog is fur, any new pics? I wouldn't mess with one mind. Arent these the sorts of things that were bred with greyhounds in middle ages for hunting? The same were bread with greyhounds and mastiffs for bashing enemies...? Alaunts and what have you -
I remember years back seeing an Eagle owl sat looking out of the bell tower of St Albans Cathedral awesome things. Hows it going with the trapping, fascinating thread, post up the outcome ;-)

The wife and I decided to give Turkey a miss this year. We fancy salmon as a main for a change, anyone got any suitable winter/Christmas recipes for this please?

I was listening to Chris Evans auction off golf trips and car trips for way over £50k. Unreal. Of course he gets to go along on the jolly and I doubt hes paying his way even if he isnt getting paid its a freebie. Im not a fan of any of the big charitys as I understand the 'owners' or trustees get to take up to 10% in management fees, its another tax scam to me. Might be a bit bitter but thats that.

Anyone Give Their Dog Supplements ??
NickF replied to whitefeet4190's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I give my pup an egg every day or so. I also read on another site that egg including the shell (powdered up) is good too. My thoughts are that there is so much science in modern dog foods, especially the 'specialist' running foods that a normal diet using these with water etc as said and the additional egg, meat etc will give them all they need. -

Pups First Catch On The Lamp At 8 Months Old!!!
NickF replied to Me and my whippet x's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Cheers, perserverence it is then! I do take her out with a lamp and switch it on and off and get her to come back when off by recall. Have fun with your pup mate, atb -
Im at the stage with a 5 month bullx pup where I am getting her to retrieve in the hall at home both with a toy and with a toy wrapped in bunny fur. But, in the garden, she will retrieve the toy but not the toy in fur, she would far rather give it a good ragging. I am now also using a fur covered toy on a flirt pole. She hits it well after a good chase but will often play a tug of war before getting it back by me 'reeling it in'. All retrieves to hand are rewarded with treats, I ignore any fails. Any ideas on how to wean her onto retrieving fur to hand in the garden? Many thanks for any ad

i like to see foxes around mate but for someone as high profile as him to say they pose no threat and encouraging people to feed them is ridiculas it doesnt make you a bell end because thats just your opinion and your not shouting it from the roof tops but packham is putting in to the media to swing peoples views on foxes which have no reason being in towns its a known fact that town foxes are no where near as healthy as the trully wild foxes of the country side and theyve attacked kids peoples dogs and cats and they can leave your garden in a right state If people want to feed fox

f***ing sad, hope they get found and the thieves what for, atb Nick

Be better if they had focussed on the decline of hares, pointed out that if they licensed coursing, the hare would be looked after as it becomes a source of income if people pay to course the hares on a londowners land

Just How Much Protein Does A Puppy Require?
NickF replied to wuyang's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
A mate of mine feeds his dogs cheap £8 a bag dry food from supermarket and says the same as you. They look alright on it. Seem happy enough. And his dogs are fine in the off season. But when we start grafting them it shows. All day ferreting then lamping at night and then out the next morning. His dogs start lacking, over the weeks the coats start to dull and his dogs take longer to recover. Whereas my bitch seems to thrive the harder I graft her, coat shines and muscles start bulging etc. I think good grub does make a difference when they are being worked hard. as they say you ar -
Lovely looking pups, atb but what in the bitch please unless I missed it, sorry ;-)
