At the risk of being hammered for this idea I thought "dont ask dont get" so here we go; I havent kept ferrets since I was a lad and have mno place here to work my young bitch. Im in tow minds over lamping locally anyways. Its quite usual for shooting parties to be arranged on sporting estates around and about and in the past when I did a bit of shooting, would always try to find a place to shoot (or fish) whenever going to a fair or planning a few days away with mates or my Dad. Does any such thing exist for dogs? Id love to spend a weekend with my bitch (10 MO) in the early part of n

My dog is a greyhound/deerhound/?? Im not sure of her actual bloodline as she was rescued stray in Cumbria at approx 6 months. She is now 10 months and coming on really well, lots of work but very rewarding. She is 24 TTS, Im not sure if she will grow up much more but I imagine she will grow out a bit. She has a long coat but very fine, when she is walking out, shes OK, its walking back or hanging around in woods wet and muddy she will drop her tail and shiver. I was thinking about getting a coat for her. From what everyones said it seems to make sense to keep her warm after running or when ha

Yup, Im a bit worried about the rocks, if I go I shall be taking my dog for definite, thanks for the posts, any help or advice would be great. I doubt any dog would see a rabbit bolt looking at that vid. Fishing has to be good, BBQ everything caught too ;-)

Loads of goood stuff on this thread. My pup has just reached nine months and the last few days has been hell on earth. I thought I had won, recall was great, could call her off almost anything. Last week or so as people have said shes found loads more fun than me. I shall start over :-(

Thats a great story mate, sorry about the toe! Mud wrestling with rabbits hmmm. Mines just about 9 months so a long way to go yet, hardest bit is dealing with my patience I think!

New respect for single handed coyote dogs
NickF replied to judge2010's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Some of the comments after it are worth a read. Especially the woman with 120 acres, sounds like dog heaven to me. That Dane looked knackered, poor old f****r. How can you not here a Coyote attacking a Great Dane whilst training another dog nearby wtf? -
Well, stitches are out tomorrow. She seems right as ninepence but wary of any big yellow dog. I spoke to the vet last wee and he said the wound was deep. He was able to put his finger on her femural artery which scare me blind, I think had the opened the poor girl would have been dead by the time she was home. Ever onwards now though thank heavens.

Watching Purdeys progress has given me a lot of insite, I dont think it will be long before I need to find some land (permission) and see for myself.

Love the white coats, good luck with them all

Is a Lurcher going to catch out of instinct or training?
-
She was in a lot of pain last night but loads 'improved' today, she can stand unaided but cant sit/lie unaided yet. Last night was pretty shit tbh. The stitches are over an area about 3" and there is one other puncture wound a few inches away. Thanks for all the well wishes I think its a few weeks of help assurance and patience for us all.

Yup, fair comments, she'll stay home. My thought on it was more 'getting back on the horse'. The bill is £220. The mastiff owner is paying that, if that dont teach them to muzzle or leave it on a leash when people are about nothing will. The damage report is purely muscular and the vet is certain there is no bone damage at all which is my biggest fear, at 8 months, she has so far to go, any bone/skeletal issues now would be pretty harsh.
-
Just spoke to the vet nurse, they starting on her now, had to wait as shed eaten. Its the Herts Game and Country Fair tomorrow, if she is bearing up in the morning, I might go over and sit by the show field for a few hours and see how she takes it. No rush but as the weathers nice and she's by and large amongst friends it might be an idea to see if/how badly shes spooked or not

youll have to cover vet bills then im affraid,be classed as a accident,if your dog was undercontrol then it would have been down to them vica versa,my dogs are fine with other dogs but i make a habit of slipping there lead back on if another person/dogs are approaching They've agreed to cover the vets bill and thats something, the dog should be muzzled, you wouldnt see an ex racing grey without one. If they know their dog is in anyway likely to cause harm it should be muzzled

Nope neither was, it was pure chance meeting in a meadow

Out walking this morning, bumped quite ;literally into a cpouple walkiing an old mastif (Rhodesian?). My pup was quite content stood by it, it looked as though it was about to sniff her and did so and whallop, the f*****g thing flattens her to the ground and sinks its teeth into her haunch. It took 10 secs to drag the f*****g thing off. My bitch pup Annabel is at the vets now. I am f*****g speachless. Im afraid of bone damage too, those batsrds are going to pay for the vet, the ostiopath the f*****g lot. Then, I shall start on the dangerous dog reports. Shes been doing so well recentl
