    I read recently that due to the high numbers of lurchers being bred without too much thought on the 'finished' result, there are a lot about with shorter legs than front so the back is sloping downwards. As has been said, nice proportion is the ideal IMHO too.

    I also think and strongly believe that by and through hunting, a balance in the wildlife of this country is maintained, that is a moral responsibility for everyone to understand and respect, not just people who live in rural environments. This is accepted however grudgingly by society as for example deer culls continue. The 'antis' have lived outside of any environment where maintaining the balance of wildlife has been a ongoing task.     Too crowded, when folk were polite, there was far fewer people. Now we are seeing the kids raised by the chavs of the early 90's who are as idle as their single mums (not everyone just the chavs) heading into a very busy crowded country. Far too many pressure groups that get listened to by weak politicians and social leaders getting their way Also, the end of the pubs as community centers.     Cheers lads. I reckon you are about right at about 25" Gaz, that was the dams height if that can count (1st cross bull x grey). That said the sire was 27 (GreyxDeerxSal) so Ive no idea tbh but you'd expect about 24-25 eh. I read that roughly speaking the jaws grow until 11 months, skeleton until 18 months and bulk out up to 2 years. Whatever the height, I reckon she will be a strong dog though.

    When you get vandalism on this scale then there is little chance. Not just that but the landowner is a wealthy conservative politician, no way would there be any support for coursing, silly to even imagine it. The lads that done this beggar belief.     Mate if this is aimed at me, I served in the British Army throughout the 80s. I keep in touch as best I can and over the years never has my support for the Army/Forces dwindled. He knew he'd done wrong so why they left the camera running or in one piece was to me very stupid. Obviously they never knew this was coming. I think he should be spending 3-5 years in MCC. 10 years is horrid. It shows absolutely zero respect for the service made by this lad, the poor sod is going through hell and does not deserve it.     He would have got the finest medical care possible...and the best aftercare.... then taken to bastion prison where he would get 3 decent meals a day... hot showers... flushibg toilets...and clean clothes.... Not to mention the 24hour armed guard on the prison... or the guards manning the cells 24/7... And probably a hefty payout in compensation for his injuries - wouldnt surprise me! ...     He was a twat for leaving his camera switched and also, in my view, the guy he killed was of more value alive. He would have been treated and then interrogated and he may well have been able to shed light on IED manufacture or anything that would have been of value. 10 years is too harsh but, he put the Army in a very public position where they had to act. Legally, he is a war criminal. On the ground he was just stupid.

    I saw an interview with a copper on this on Country File. He said that if they see vans/dogs they will do all they can to disrupt your day. That includes repeated stops, searches, confiscations. Guilty until proven innocent. Its f****d up
