Thanks for the well wishes lads, much appreciated. I shall be looking for a new pal very soon.

All of that but also 'stay' too. I dont care whether she would sit, stand or lay but as long as she stopped I was happy. Lots of traffic here and loads of barbed wire here so I was happy she couldnt jump.

RIP, sorry for your loss

All the above plus, what I used to do was turn my back, start digging around on the ground with a stick, after a while when the dog comes to see what you are doing, drop a treat into the hole. Worked for me.

I lost my bitch today, just 2 1/2 years the poor soul. She was beyond doubt my closest pal. She would give everything to get onto most things and in her time made a good fist of rabbit and a great deal other prey that she probably shouldnt have but once she was on to something nothing would stop her which proved her undoing. This morning my wife took her for a walk in the local forest and she got onto a herd of deer. She was kicked and the hoof punctured through her belly and into her ribs and left her innards out. My wife rang me to say a Land Rover was on its way to get them out but she was

I also found that turning my back and sitting sdown would get mine to come back to see what i was up to, then drop a treat on the ground by my feet, when she bet to get she would expose her collar. Also, try putting the dog on the lead and walking a while then taking it off again a few times so it dont identify the lead with the end of the fun.

Great looking set ups, stayed in worse holiday chalets myself -
For me mooching is best when dawn and dusk kind of come to us. Like when its about 6.30 a.m. and just getting light. Otherwise all the rabbits are too close to cover.

This one almost looks like an oil painting, magnificent looking lurcher, must be something to see at speed -
true, ray said exactly that in one show.most deaths occur when you try to walk out of a place, but must be hard not to though. They seem to re-enact military situations where if you do stay put you are more likely to be captured or whatever. If you have no threat beyond survival it makes absolute sense to stay put. Knock up a little 3 bed semi, make peace with local tribes and after a few months, bingo! you've recreated Bradford

I reckon that Bear chaps all bullshit. Anyone see the episode where he skinned a snake, pissed in the skin and kept it for laters? Id rather be stuck with Rambo tbh. I always thought the first rule after water heat shelter was to stay put anyway, not go wandering around

Not staged at all IMHO, it takes years and years to train the birds and from studying Ghengis Khan, this has been going on for centuries. This is worth a read; http://www.mongoliat....com/eagle.html Not saying its all staged.... but watch this! #! Think about it, out in the middle of nowhere.. deepest Mongolia/ khazakstan.. and the camera man, with all his gear happens to be in the right place at the right time?? with the hapless mutt running straight at him?? luck or staged? like i say, not knocking the birds or anything, just wondered how they obtained the "wolves"...

How can you eat anything that's not gutted/cleaned? ..more people in China learning English than there are people living in England!

Thanks all, based on her retrieval I'm not so convinced about the collie! I'm hoping to go ferreting at end Jan so Ill take your advice darbo, thanks very much

We rescued her at 6 months and have put a lot of work into her. Despite nearly being mauled to death by a Mastiff and being stray at 4 months, she is coming on well (I think!). Her retrieval is a bit erratic and no idea how she will fare with quarry, should know that in a few weeks. Anyone care to guess at her cross? She is 24" tts, based on photos etc, my guess is Grey x Deer x maybe Beddlington...???

I appreciate its probably not done these days to post up hunt pictures but I doubt these chaps will mind Had to laugh later in the morning as this fellow took half a burger from a watchers hands
