  2. depends on the dog mate, some it might make hard mouthed on rabbits and others it wont effect. ive been out ratting with beddy/whippet first cross and killed plenty of rats then gone on to lamp rabbits straight after, the dog has killed the first one or two then has adjusted its self and been soft mouthed on the rest.

  6. the numbers are not the best round my area this year, some of the good old reliable spots have hardly a rabbit on them. will have to rack my brains and go to some new spots shortly. theres one spot that i was catching mixi rabbits off at the end of last season been there twice this season had 38 and 25 its some how thriving which suprised me.

  12. as ray said it was a enjoyable couple of nights and a good crash course for young buck. although we had 30 lastnight i had a couple of little misshaps, we started at a spot and moved to another area. inbetween the two spots i stopped to have a look on a field and noticed i had left rays slip lead at the first spot, so we had to go back and find it which we did. when i finally got to the secound spot the bulb went on the lamp, luckily we wasnt far from home so we had to go back to the house to get a new bulb. then my 3rd misshap i got out of the motor and it started to role down a bank because
  13. i looked after a first cross for a couple of weeks a few years ago. i use to take it to some local fields and let it off the lead and you could just watch it run in a straight line until it got to the hedge then it would just run round the field untill it decided it wanted to come back to you lol. it was faster than i thought for a heavy looking dog. dont know what it worked like but they didnt keep it long.
  14. well done. i like to see whippets working the lamp.

  18. decided to take my young nephew out again with his two young gill ferrets. i had been lamping a spot the other night and noticed the rabbits mostly headed for one spot so today i decided to see if i could get any with the ferrets. i picked the young lad up at 11 o clock this morning and headed out to our spot. we pulled up and started off walking a hedgerow towards the place i had in mind, about 100 yards up the hedge i got a mark off my old dog under a small oak tree which was only 5 holes. i started to put the nets on and bang a rabbit bolted and off it went down the other side the hedge
