  1. good going lads, like you said its still warm yet.
  2. with all the work youve put into those two dogs i can see this wouldnt have been a lightly made decision. good luck finding them a good home. theres certainly been plenty of ground work done with them.
  3. go for it the dog will manage a few runs.
  4. the best dry food i found for working my dog on was eukanuba. he looked well and maintained good stamina on it, i could see where the extra money was going with the overall condition of my dog.
  5. looking at the size of the knuckles hes got plenty of growing to do either way mate, steady or spurts.
  6. well done lads nice little trip out.
  7. thats spot on, just the sort of thing i needed to hear.
  8. not really mate. ive a soft spot for whippets.
  9. thanks for that jai. i would go direct to him if i was to buy one.
  10. myself or my dog don't pay any attention to them. i just carry on lamping other rabbits elsewhere in the field. surely you could of got slips on other rabbits in the field
  11. for those who have or do own mike brown whippets how have you found them in general. i am asking this question as i am seriously considering getting a whippet in the near future for a bit of general mooching and to assist on my ferreting trips. ive been looking at the pics of his dogs on a website and i am just curios to see how folk have got on with them.
  12. he is already top dog thats my theory out the window then.
  13. i dont see why not. although they have been kenneled together all that one of them would be the boss if its the one that isnt very well, then the other will try and take advantage of the situation and become top dog.
  14. looks like it would make a tidy bunny bashing lamp. might try one myself in the near future at that money.
  15. nells rabbit fair and square. i had a similiar thing happen a few years ago me and a mate was walking a bypass embankment with the terriers and catty's the dogs put a rabbit up and it took off straight out into a field towards some lads that were ferreting the far hedgerow it went straight into the warren they had netted up and was caught as a back netter. they were chuffed it was there first rabbit of the day.
  16. ive just got back in only had a couple. its still here and ive been walking fecking stubble fields the rabbits would have herd me walking a mile of tonight.
  17. wish the same could be said here. its not the best of nights.
  18. the only trouble with shooting alot of clays is a clay starts to slow at a certain distance and becomes easier to hit. where as the old pigeon can change direction and speed so is harder to hit. alot of people who do laods of clay shooting often struggle to shoot pigeons. beter off being out there doing it, theres no substatute for the real thing.
  19. imo a golf course is not really the best place to be running/teaching a young dog like that as the rabbits generally tend to be as fast as fcuk. i would try and find some different ground to start the pup on somewhere with easier rabbits.
  20. just because you didn`t see much that night you assume someone has cleared it, more likely it was a bad night for some natural reason or other, fox been about, cover recently cut or any one from a hundred or more reasons, some nights i see maybe a dozen fox`s and loads of rabbits another night in the same fields nothing at all. very true paulus, its also very in the year to be lamping.ive found with long hours of daylight the rabbits dont seem to be out as much of a night. give it another month or so and some spots you think havent got many rabbits on sometimes altar and show good nu
  21. another thing ive noticed with some dogs. they can jump but have always been lifted over fences since pups, and have become reliant on being lifted over and pretty much refuse to jump.
  22. i am not really bothered about runnig style. more interested getting a good bag. a good bag filler on the lamp always appears to be a steady type of dog from what ive seen.
  23. nice one chaps. it will nice when all the crops are cut and we are all able to lamp all the ground available to us.
